There are reports that Aston Villa boss Martin O’Neill is still keen on Newcastle United right winger James Milner.
James Milner – one of Newcastle’s best players this season
Milner spent a season at Villa Park on loan for the 2005-2006 season and played 33 times for Villa and scored 3 goals. Aston Villa of course were very close to securing the Leeds born native but when Newcastle failed to sign Mark Viduka, James was recalled from Birmingham around 6pm on the last day of the summer transfer season – 31st August – whoops.
Not a good way to treat the then 19 year old youngster, but James took it all in his stride. He is very mature for his age, and only wants to play football. James had an excellent season playing for Glenn Roeder in 2006-2007, and played 53 times for Newcastle and scored 4 goals.
The Daily Mirror are reporting that Martin O’Neill is willing to pay Newcastle £8M for the talented winger, to add some balance to the Villa midfield.
Not sure what the most forceful and polite way to say this is – but absolutely no chance!   Nice try.

Comment #46Newcastle have too much quality to go down and a win over Small Heath today will be a massive boost in confidence.
Milner is still raw and needs a manager like O’Neill to make him a top quality player (unlike Kev).
I would easily give £8 million + Maloney!
Any takers???
