Keegan – Viduka Can Be Huge Bonus For Newcastle

With Mark Viduka becoming fit again, Kevin Keegan has talked about the Aussie International and says he can be a huge bonus for Newcastle in the last 9 games.

Mark Viduka – can be huge bonus for us in last 9 games

It’s hard for us to disagree with Kevin on that one.

Kevin Keegan talked about Mark Viduka on Thursday:

“If he’d been fit and available, Mark is the kind of player you want on your teamsheet every week,”

“You always want your best players available, but forwards who can score you goals and win you matches and who have experience, you need them especially.”

“If we can have a fit Mark Viduka for the last nine games, that’ll be a huge bonus for us.”

“I get on really well with Mark and I’ve never had a bust-up with any player at this club, and that’s the truth.”

“He’s got this fantastic ability to score goals in tight situations and to score goals at important times. That’s what wins you football matches.”

“ You saw Fernando Torres the other night score a goal [for Liverpool] when a lot of players would have taken another touch, and Mark comes into that category, too.”

“He doesn’t need a lot of space, he can do the unexpected.”

We’re not sure Mark is as good as Torres, 😀 who has been in world class form for Liverpool this season.  His winning goal on Tuesday or the Reds against Inter-Milan was just sublime. But we certainly understand the point Kevin is making.

To be honest, we’ve blasted Mark a bit since Saturday, because he seems to have been out injured all this season, and has hardly contributed to the side this season, plus he’s on huge wages.

But we’re clear that if we do manage to survive this season, there will be 3-4 players who will have done the job for Newcastle when it really mattered, when the chips were down.

These players will in essence have saved the club from relegation and a catastrophe that would be on Tyneside, as it would us back 2-3 years.

They are usually called heroes, and we have no doubt whatsoever,  that Mark can be one of those players – if only he can stay fit.

Comments welcome.

no not as good as nando torres but can do a good job for us. the goal he scored the other night was viduka esque… no need to touch it to turn and instead just shoot

wouldnt mind any 2 from viduka oba owen and carroll against brummy on monday although i think oba should defo start tbh. his unpredictability is worrying for defenders and we need more of that in our team atm.

ps yh torres is pure class .. but who needs him when uve got big vid eh haha

know what guys…… I MISS SHEARER IN FRONT !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! It’s so different now. Only oba is near to shearer in term of temperament on field in my sight. They both have similar level of fighting spirit (but still alan has more). If i could choose, i’ll put oba in front of anyone we have now.

Viduka is certainly huge, but like Micky Quinn it doesn’t matter how “huge” you are as long as you score goals. 3 -1 Newcastle on Monday

I still reckon ‘Fat Duka’ still has goals in him. Supply him with decent crosses and through balls and we’ll see goals for another couple of years yet. But Andy Carroll is waiting in the wings, and if Smith/Fat Duka can’t do this business then he deserves a chance.

I think Oba’s fighting spirit is as good as Shearers, however Martins still has time to improve as a player, if he is made to feel he is top choice and fully part of Newcastle’s future then the sky is the limit for Martins, if he is left on the bench and moved around eventually even his enthusiasm will die, Sam came close to breaking him.
I am happy Viduka is back, his scoring rate per minutes on the pitch is good, but Martins is the one who will run rings round the opposition, break up their tidy defense and either Martins himself or any other player may score when he is on the pitch, lets face it when he gets the ball we dont have a clue what he might do and we watch every game, so what can the defense study to learn about his game!!
So I hope Viduka can be used but not at the expense of Martins and we dont want two more matches with yet another player trying to fit back in to the team, we have had players back from injury and players back from the ANC, we want a bit of stability and continuity over these next few games to get some points.

to be honest VIDUKA OWEN was so far our best partnership up front…I’m sure we will start with MARTINS OWEN and that could be a wise decision, becouse KK can bring in VIDUKA (only if needed) for OWEN or MARTINS!
