Keegan Really Buzzing After Win

Kevin Keegan was said to be very upbeat after yesterday’s win against Fulham, when he talked to the Sunday Mirror. For Kevin to be upbeat, that probably meant his feet were 2 inches off the ground.

Kevin Keegan – very upbeat after yesterday’s win

Keegan was buzzing aftre the game as he said:

“I’m absolutely delighted and we fully deserved to win.” “We’ve eased the pressure on ourselves but it is just one win.” “However, it has given everyone at the club and our fantastic fans a massive boost in what has been a fantastic week by our standards.”

“It was a really good win but not fantastic considering everything.” “We stuck to our plan and fully deserved the win.”

“It could have been all over at halftime as we had three good chances and at 1-0 you always fear the worst.” “We lost out recently to late goals against Middlesbrough and Blackburn. In fact, we played better against Blackburn than we did today and got nothing from that game.”

“This first win has taken a longer time than I or anyone else would have thought, but it has eased the pressure on everyone.” “We worked hard as a team and, forget about me, this win was important for the players.”

While a clean sheet was vital, and the first one since Keegan’s first game in charge against Bolton on 19th January, Keegan was quick to acknowledge his goal scorers, Viduka and Owen, as Newcastle moved to within 8 points of that magic 40 points target.

Kevin continued:

“I said when I came that we did not have a big squad but that we did have quality, and that we did need everyone available.” “We did not have Mark Viduka for six weeks but we do now.

“His goal was a typical Mark Viduka goal – great feed and a great finish. “The same can also be said about Michael as it was a typical Michael Owen goal and he is as good as anyone in the world at that.”

“He has dispelled the theory this week that he is not as sharp as he used to be, and must be getting near the 50 per cent mark for Newcastle in terms of goals, and you have to remember he had a lengthy lay-off though injury.”

Good game and a great result for the Newcastle fan base yesterday. At the end of the game, TV cameras showed all the Geordie fans’ smiling faces and it was great to see that.    “All the lads and lasses there – all with smiling faces” – comes to mind.

We’re not out of the woods yet, and not overconfident by any means, and realize we still have to pick up lots of points before the end of the season.

But times were good again at St. James’ Park yesterday, that’s for sure, and it felt so good.   😀

A hugely important result yesterday and a decent performance.Michael Owen played well when coming deep while i was also impressed with Vidukas hold up play and Obas power and direct pace.Ab Faye was solid once again in defence and Jose Enrique continues to improve and adapt to the Premiership.
Lets not get carried away though as we must put this in context of the quality of opposition we were up against.Fulham were poo (oops missed the `r` off there) with only Bullard threatening. We still have plenty of room for improvent and surely better full backs would have exploited our narrow formation?
We need to ensure we build on these 3 points.

We have been getting better and better over the last few weeks even though the results havent been there. The most important thing now is to continue and look to win our very next match from now until the end of the season. Look at the team sheet every week and we have the players to do that in each and every game – In King Kev we now have the believe that we can win the game ahead. Still mile to go but our results are showing signs of a team below mid point now we need to keep pushing up and finish top of the north teams (which shouldnt be hard!)

Aye…I’m really likin’ the 4-3-3 formation…It worries teams & forces them to stay back…Specially with the attack we have, it takes at least 4/5 defenders to look after MO, OM & MV!..

Jimmy Greaves never back tracks on what he said when we first won promotion under KK he said we would be relegated before christmas…

We finished 3rd and qualified for europe

The man just spouts crap and never gets pulled up on it when his expert opinion go tits up, just go back on the bottle jimbo and we’ll listen to real people in the know Martin O’Neill, Arsene Wenger, Rafa Benitez, Nikolas Anelka, Stuart Pearce, Maik Taylor, Gavin Peacock and Les Ferdinand to name just a few, Who all said pretty much the same thing Keegan will keep us up and get his own lads in and we will all see a different Newcastle United next season new players, New Style of football and loads More points on the board and certainly no threat of relegation the toon will take off again and the messiah will make it so.

    LONG LIVE THE KING

That Martins “quotation” is bizarre, given that he’s just started two games after being out for ages at the ACN and then injured. Seems like a completely made up story to me.

I can see Martins may have said that a while back, and note that all the articles are saying is that he “has said” this – there’s no indication of when it may have been said. Same old sloppy, self-serving journalism, aimed at selling papers and nothing else.

Either that or it’s true and Martins is the thickest footballer in history.

Football’s a funny old game Mr Greaves and you’re just a funny old cockney has been. If Keegan is supposedly out of touch after being away 3 years why are we supposed to listen to this ancient dinosaur who has’nt been involved in football for ages.
