Kevin Delighted With Win – Takes Wife Out

Kevin Keegan was so happy after the game yesterday, and the crucial 3 points against Fulham was the 10th game in charge for Keegan, in his second time around at Newcastle United.

Kevin Keegan – he’s on his way now!

Kevin said after the game after apparently making his wife Jean, an emergency cell phone call to get ready to go out:

“It takes the pressure off everyone at the club. The players’ attitudes have been questioned and so has my ability as a manager.”

“Tonight I am going to take my wife out. She hasn’t been out for a few weeks.”

Strikers Mark Viduka and Michael Owen scored two great Newcastle goals, and in particular Mark’s goal after 8 minutes was just what the team needed. This boy is a good player but how can we keep him fit?

Keegan added:

“I can’t praise them too much for their contributions and goals. Viduka’s goal was typical of him, he showed good feet and produced a great finish.”

“Owen has answered his critics with his goals this week. Michael would certainly be in most people’s England team.”

Sunderland also had a great result in their first away League win of the season by beating Aston Villa 1-0, with a goal from Geordie Michael Chopra after 83 minutes.

We hope Sunderland stay up as well as Middlesbrough, but we don’t really class Middlesbrough as a North-East team. They are too far south, and when they start getting beat the fans stop going to the games. The other thing that makes them odd is their fans wear warm coats when the weather is cold. Strange indeed.

But we want Sunderland to survive and we don’t hate them at all – well – only when they beat us. My best friend over here in Raleigh is also from the North-East and was shipped out to the US by IBM about the same time in the early 70s. We have fairly sane discussions about our teams. Yes, we are aware that is strange and unusual. 😀

We’d like to see both teams doing great in the next couple of seasons, because it will be just fantastic for the region. But only as long as Newcastle are just ahead of Sunderland, in everything we do.

We certainly don’t want our Wearside neighbors getting too big for their boots now, do we? 😀

Comments very welcome.
