Newcastle are certainly being linked with many young stars in the transfer market, and today we are said to be interested in 20 year-old Fiorentina midfielder Zdravko Kuzmanovic.
Zdravko Kuzmanovic – Arsenal said to lead the chase
The Sun says Arsenal lead the pack, in the chase for this young star, and are expected to beat other clubs going after the youngster, which is said to include Newcastle United.
Born in Bern, Switzerland to a family of Serbian expatriates, Kuzmanović holds a Swiss passport, and was signed from Basel for around £2M a year ago.
Kuzmanovic has played 25 times for Fiorentina and scored one goal. He played 34 times for Basel making his debut in 2005, at the age of 18 and scored 4 goals. The 6’1″ midfielder has already played 7 times for Serbia and scored 2 goals for his national side.
Arsenal representatives are understood to have flown out to meet officials of the Italian club to thrash out a deal, which is said to be in the region of £5M.
We hope Newcastle officials are in there too, trying to get this player, who by all reports is a future star.

Comment #7Kuzma has been pretty good for La Viola so far this season. Mostly tho as a right midfielder and not in the center. I would say that he does need more experience but has the potential to fill into a CM role in the Prem.
He has the pedigree but not the experience and it does tend to show. For example, against Everton in the UEFA cup in the home tie he dominated the midfield and scored. But on the away tie, despite being on the pitch for the full 90 he was utterly lost (panicked?) and nowhere to be found.
As Fiorentina fan as well I’d prefer him to stay at Franchi, BUT if he HAD to go anywhere I would prefer seeing him at St James’s; but I wouldn’t expect miracles from him
I do know that Fiorentina has been talking about keeping him for next season in a RM and CM position. But if the price was right, Corvino and Co would not hesitate to ship him out for a nice profit.
