Newcastle United Reserves are sending a strong side to Northwich tonight for their tough game with Manchester United.
James Troisi – made full Australian international debut and will play tonight
Newcastle will start with Peter Ramage and new boy Lamine Diatta in central defense and also have young stars Tamas Kadar, Ngo Baheng, James Troisi, Lua Lua and goalkeeper Fraser Forster in the starting line-up.
Shola Ameobi was also set to start but will be withdrawn since he has agreed to a loan move to Stoke City until the end of the season.
Canadian defender David Edgar and striker Andy Carroll, who scored for England Under-19s earlier in the week, will not be in the squad as they may be involved at Tottenham on Sunday, in our important league game.
Reserve team coach Adam Sadler said today:
“We are looking to keep up our recent good form.†“It’s always a test against Manchester United, and tonight will be no different.â€
“We didn’t play as well as in recent weeks against Bolton, but we didn’t give up and got a draw.â€
Australian winger James Troisi, who made his international debut against Singapore in a 0-0 draw last Saturday, will also play tonight.
The Adelaide-born 19 year-old youngster will be hoping to catch the eye of watching Newcastle manager Kevin Keegan, to try to break through into the first team.
James said:
“Newcastle are going through a bit of a tough patch at the moment so it has been a bit hard for me to get in the squad.â€
“Hopefully, things will change for the better in the next few weeks and ease up a bit.â€
Adam Sadler will field the following side for the tough test tonight:
Newcastle United Reserves: Forster, Ramage, Kadar, Doninger, Tozer, Diatta, Godsmark, Troisi, Ameobi, Ngo Baheng, LuaLua.
Subs: Lough, Soderberg, Morris, Marwood, Danquah.
We’ll have a report of the game later this evening.

Comment #7was a friendly against singapore 0-0 troisi played, apparently very well. however wasnt included in the final squad for the wc qualifier match against china. this isnt anything to be disappointed about though as hes young and it was a crucial match. incidentally it was also a 0-0 draw
