Juande Ramos Positive Before Newcastle Game

Juande Ramos has made some complimentary comments about Newcastle United before this afternoon’s match at White Hart Lane.

Juande Ramos
– Spurs manager already has one trophy

Tottenham manager Juande Ramos believes Kevin Keegan’s Newcastle squad has the potential for success.

Since the last game when Newcastle beat Tottenham 3-1 at St. James’ Park in October, which turned out to be Martin Jol’s last game as Spurs’ manager, fortunes have changed fairly dramatically for the two sides, with Newcastle now in a relegation dogfight.

Ramos said:

“We’re in a much more comfortable situation than Newcastle – it’s an important game for them because they need the points,” “They are a team with a lot of potential to be further up the table than they are. They have a good squad, a good team and a good manager.”

“Things are difficult for them at the moment and they are finding it tough to come out of their situation, but they are a team of potential.”

And it turns out that Juande is a big fan of Michael Owen:

“He’s a magnificent player and very dangerous,” “We will have to look out for him, paying attention to what he does throughout the game.”

“Hopefully, defensively, we’ll be as good as we were against Portsmouth.”

Juande Ramos looks like an excellent manager and in his short time at Spurs has already done something that Newcastle haven’t done in close to 40 years – win a trophy.

Tottenham of course won the Carling Cup when they beat Chelsea in the final so Juande certainly didn’t take long to bring success to the London club.

It should be a good open game this afternoon but Newcastle need to get something out of this game. If we can play as well as we have in the last couple of games, then a draw is a good possibility, but a win would be great, and is what we really need to propel us out of the relegation zone.

What do you think?

He couldnt be clearer if he started waving one of those big telethon cheques around with Pay Michael Owen the sum of…….. written on it.

You heard it here first – Michael Owen in a swap deal for Robbie Keane, with maybe JJ thrown back in as a make weight.
