Faye Tips Team-Mate Taylor for England

Faye’s presence in the back four over the last few games has been massive and his dominance in the air is there for all to see. His young partner Steven Taylor has also formed a solid partnership with the Senegal International.

Steven Taylor – plays well with Faye

Faye’s experience has also seemed to benefit the England Under-21 international Steven Taylor, who has played solidly in the last few games, and looks what he is – an up and coming center-back with tremendous potential.

But if Faye is the senior man in our current central defensive partnership, Abdoulaye is confident that Taylor will go on to become one of the best defenders in the country.

Faye added:

“He is good, a good player. He’s 20, 21 years and he plays very good. He is strong and he works very hard, I like Steven and he is also a very good person. He can get to England level, I’m sure of that.”

“But he’s young, with little experience. He’s playing a lot now and that will help him. One day he will be in the England squad, that’s for sure.”

Just to get things straight Steven turned 22 years-old in January and of course he is the current captain of the England Under-21 side, in which James Milner is also a regular.

It will be interesting to see if Kevin breaks up the partnership in the last few games to give Lamine Diatta and even Peter Ramage a game. Both their Newcastle contracts run out in the summer, and the club will need to decide if they are to renew the contracts of the two.

It seems obvious right now that Kevin does not want to upset a winning aside, but he may introduce Diatta as a substitute in place of David Edgar for tomorrow’s game.

Comments very welcome.

defiantly, im sure tayls could, all he needed was a steadied constanstant same back four next to him, and he has that now, watch us as fans reap the rewards of staying faithfull to him.

KK will keep faith with his present combination. We have no new injuries to upset the apple cart. True- Steven is still only very young. Remember our Moncur? He developed into a fine and solid CB after he was 21/22 did he not.
Taylor needs more experience and a supportive crowd behind him. Faye is right – we must give the lad more of a chance to develop but not at the risk of losing games at this point in time. As for the England squad? He is potentially better than some in that national defence.

CRAIGG – maybe he has more potential than those defenders (Upson and Davies) but so far he has not shown it to me. And Davies is not that old too so it has nothing to do with being young.
