Keegan – All Our Remaining Games Now Winnable

Kevin Keegan has challenged his squad to finish this terribly disappointing season on a high.

Kevin talked this morning about the rest of our season:

“Reading is our biggest game of the season because if we win I think we are safe,” “I can then say, ‘What do we want to do between now and the end of the season, guys?’ I want to finish on a high.”

“Suddenly, because of that performance at Spurs, those games are winnable – even Chelsea at home, if we play like we did at Spurs. Everton away, West Ham away, Portsmouth away, they are tough games but none of these teams are beyond us.”

Chelsea are still competing for the title and Everton are still in competition with Liverpool for fourth place, but both these issues could have been decided by the time they face Newcastle. Even if they’re not, Newcastle are showing the form that can still win those games.

Keegan added:

“They can all have the situation Spurs had when they have won something and you think, ‘Do we really want this because if we do, we might just get this game.’”

“Portsmouth could just be the same, and West Ham. But Reading will be a different kettle of fish and we can send out a statement – three wins on the trot would be fantastic.”

“We set them a target of the least we expect, which is to win the mini-league and we’re on schedule to do that,” “There are three teams on the form of the last three games in the frame – Middlesbrough, Sunderland and us.”

There’s a real chance that if the team can stay professional we can win quite a few of our last 6 games. One of them is today against Reading at home, and it will be interesting to see how the lads perform after last week’s tremendous win.

But they’ll have to show consistency and today’s game will not be as easy as some fans imagine.

However, it’s still a game we should win and anything less today will be a disappointment.

I argued the other day that our remaining games were winnable. Some, quite sensibly, replied we must not get carried away. Now KK says it. They are winnable – whether we do or not is up to the players and the fans in the crowd. Starting today then? Come on – three points and upwards. After that only five winnable games left!

Might be chasing rainbows, but winning all of our remaining games could put us into Europe if only via the intertoto. (is it still going)

that’s what KK’d expected to turn us into a force once again just like the past when he was here 1st time as manager & he still is passionate & becoming more wiser. Great !
