Newcastle vs Reading – Edgar Starts

Kevin Keegan has been forced to make a last minute change to the team since Steven Taylor has food poisoning.

David Edgar comes in for Steven Taylor, who misses out and it’s a massive chance for the 20 year old Canadian to show what he’s made of. David has never let the side down, but this will be a big test for the youngster.

The Canadian last started a game for Newcastle more than a year ago during the 2-2 FA Cup Third Round draw at Birmingham City.

Senegal captain Lamine Diatta is now included among the Newcastle substitutes, for the first time since his arrival at the club last month, and Damien Duff is again one of the subs.

TEAMS

Newcastle United: Steve Harper, Habib Beye, Jose Enrique, Abdoulaye Faye, David Edgar, Nicky Butt, Geremi, Joey Barton, Michael Owen (c), Mark Viduka, Oba Martins
Subs: Fraser Forster, Lamine Diatta, Alan Smith, Damien Duff, Andy Carroll

Reading: Marcus Hahnemann, Nicky Shorey, Kalifa Cisse, Kevin Doyle, Stephen Hunt, John Oster, Dave Kitson, James Harper, Ivar Ingimarsson, Liam Rosenior, Ulises De La Cruz
Subs: Bobby Convey, Emerse Fae, Shane Long, Michael Duberry, Adam Federici

Referee: Lee Probert
Attendance: tbc

Good, I hope Edgar does well.

Bad timing with such an important game as this will seal our survival. However, could be a golden opportunity for the impressive young centre back. You gotta take your chances! C’mon Edgar! C’mon Toon! Have a feeling it may be Bartons game this one he’s been promising in last few games, hoping he may score or create a few.

    Possible scenario:
Edgars mum is the assistant chef at the Toon and she is wondering what her little boy has to do to get a start. A sudden thought occurs to her.

Anyone want to continue the storyline.

3 pm Sat is very congested so just be glad there’s some kind of pic imo. You could always try using a proxy for others like tvants n TVU.

    np’s Hadrian.
