Newcastle United’s Habib Beye loves playing in a Kevin Keegan side, and it seems that Keegan is just as positive about his Senegal right back being at Newcastle.

Habib Beye - had his best game for the club on Saturday
The 30 year-old Senegal international has fully benefited from Kevin’s enthusiastic approach to the game, and he had two assists on Saturday as he continually supported the attack down the right wing. He looked a great player on Saturday, and 61% of our readers think he was Newcastle’s best player with 689 votes in so far.
And Keegan, who was obviously way up-beat after another easy win, interrupted Beye’s interview after the game, to tell the Press just how good he felt his full-back was.
And the former Marseille player continued his interview and said:
““Kevin Keegan is only focusing on doing good things for the club.” “In turn, the players want to do something good for him.†“When he speaks, you listen to everything he has to say.â€
“It was a good performance from the team – this is the third win in a row.†“Nine points is perfect for us.†“We needed to save the club from relegation and stay in the Premier League, and those points have almost helped to do that.â€
“It’s not just for this season – these wins are helping us build for next season.†“To keep a clean sheet was very important for the defence and everyone at the club.â€
“We’re also getting a lot of goals – in the last four games we have 10.†“It was just perfect, and the manager was happy with us all.†“But we want to win all of our last five games.†“That would be something very positive for next season.â€
Keegan’s new 4-3-3 formation has had the team looking just great in recent weeks, and defender Beye says there are now lots of different attacking options for the team.
Habib continued:
“It’s magnificent with the players we have. Mark Viduka keeps the ball very well and it’s the same with Michael Owen.†“And Oba Martins is electrifying.†“They all scored, so that does great things for confidence.†“The plan worked very well and we played 4-3-3.â€
“This is the best system for the team.†“But we must continue to do what we have been doing for the final five games of the season.â€
Habib is the best player Big Sam brought in last summer, and since Kevin came back to the club Beye has played even better at right back. He will be a fixture at right back in Kevin’s teams for the next few seasons, that’s a certainty.
We’re so pleased to have such positive and talented players like Habib at the Tyneside club.
Comments welcome.

I’ve got to admit it but Fat Sam seems like he knew what he was doing on the market.
He just didn’t manage the team well.
Beye is awesome, Enrique is the best (only?) left-back we’ve had in years, Faye looks steady, Geremi is dependable, Barton is finding his feet, Viduka has been good whenever he’s played - only Smith has failed to achieve and that was because Allardyce played him out of position for most of the season.
Special K seems to be getting the best out of Allardyce’s players. You’ve got to love Keegan.

ed, nice new banner, the best team we’ve played in a long time, i always knew owen and martins could play together, just one question tho, why does keegan have a man city track top on?

Habib has made the position his own and its great to have a class right back with loads of experience. I’m sure he’s one of the “leaders on the pitch” that Sir Kevin was talking about last week.
Big Sam signed some good players and Habib is one of the best of that bunch if not the best. Sam improved on the threadbare squad left by Roeder (with kids in defence remember?) and no doubt Sir Kevin will build on that solid foundation in the summer.
The future is bright! The future is black n white!!

I was considering to change my name in Oba - Beyefan, cause he really is a fantastic player. He talks like a leader (was the leader of Marseille) and I would love him to be our captain (Owen is doing great tho’).
If I look back at the transfer window last August, I felt really miserable when he turned us down just before kick off of the EPL. When I read at the end of August that SA had new contacts I was dancing around. I knew what he could do for the club as I saw him play often on television.
31st August 2007: oh man what a day that was (not only my last day of my holiday; I’m a teacher and school in Belgium starts 01 September), but all day long I waited to read the news that Beye sifgned a contract for the Toon. But no that day the only one who signed, according to the BBC site, was Faye. Thank God the next day when I was heading to school
I read on the net that Beye also signed at the closing stages of the transfer window.
Indeed SA brought good players to the club, but he was never able to gel them all together! Maybe because he played his worst transfer all the time (indeed Smithy).

Ed - I was checking the facts of our goals and injuries and saw that Faye is not listed. Faye scored 1 goal in the 1-5 defeat at home against Man Utd. So he also deserves to be added to the list of goalscorers
.

whats with the new banner like? it looks good but kk s wearin a man city badge!
11 Bill F // Apr 7, 2008 at 14:45
Perhaps we should get Sam back as chief scout,
If Beye has any influence at Marseille still, he can persuade Nasri, to sign for us.
12 Spyro // Apr 7, 2008 at 14:50
OH YEAH! banner needs to be changed again…shame, it looks really good aswell
13 Spyro // Apr 7, 2008 at 14:51
probably not nasri bill f, but he could persuade cisse
14 Callum // Apr 7, 2008 at 15:09
Keegan is wearing a Man City coat lol
15 Bill F // Apr 7, 2008 at 15:20
Spyro, chucks his teddies out of the pram to often for me. Rather have Crouch or Gomis.
16 HeronMag // Apr 7, 2008 at 15:29
I agree Bill F. Gomis looks great. But knowing big money toon transfers he’ll probably come here and magically lose all ability and strength!
He looks great for St Etienne. I wouldn’t mind seeing Dean Ashton come in as a long-term replacement for Viduka if Gomis decides to go elsewhere.
17 Leo // Apr 7, 2008 at 15:41
yeah good spot JMC maybe the picture to replace it should be the one of keegan spraying the lucozade in the air
18 Anon // Apr 7, 2008 at 15:52
NASRI will Join either Real Madrid or Barcelona in the summer!
NUFC have enquired, but deal is dead in the water for that very reason.
KK is definately looking at McGeady as a possibility, not DECO as reported, but Messi is also under scrutiny, though we dont think we’ll get Messi. Henry will stay at Barca also.
Kompany is also another target, with an 8m bid being readied for the Big Belgian, and Moutinho is also a possibility.
KK has briefed Wise and Jimenez to find a good up and coming Defensive C/Mid. As N Butt as he will only be regular for another season.
Fabiano is a target, as is Gomis.
SWP is also on KK wishlist, and early reports say the feeling is mutual.
1 CB
2 Fullbacks
1 Winger
2 CM
1 Striker
7 Players is what KK wants.
Hard to beleive me????????
I have my sources ;-).
Watch this space!
19 CRAIGG // Apr 7, 2008 at 15:55
I hope yor right as ive said for ages we need 7 new players not 4 or 5
I SWP signs for us i’ll cream my pants, looking back at some of the goals he scored for city.
20 faustino // Apr 7, 2008 at 16:08
If thats the truth it would have to mean P45s for Smith, Emre, Carr, Rozehnal. Though I am dubious on the 1CB front, I’d have said two as Cacapa has to be added to that list for being old and lame. Plus, I would have said two pacey wingers not one a Zog is blatantly gone.
Put it this way; I wouldn’t have fancied him to stay if he’d played every game. If he goes to spurs that leaves the possibility of Mcgeady and Lennon next year. My god that would mean pace.

Beye was my MOM on Sat, closely followed by Barton, although I’ve slated him in the past you have to give credit where it’s due - he’s been playing really well the last few games
Surely Oba’s getting votes because he’s a fan fave, he was good on Sat but no better than the rest of the team. Beye and Barton really stood out
23 Ross // Apr 7, 2008 at 16:43
my mate said to me
“regardless of what joey barton has done off the field, you cant afford not to play him. he’s one of your best players, and he’ll come through and show that within the next few weeks”.
i at the time, said barton wasnt performing and he could be left out.
but suddenly he’s found his feet and looks very good.
better keep that quiet from my mate though or i’ll never hear the end of it! ha
24 HeronMag // Apr 7, 2008 at 16:45
I thought Michael Owen was outstanding against Reading. I agree that Beye and Barton were excellent. Owen impressed me with his intelligence. He seems so far ahead of some players with how fast he sees chances coming.
25 ChrisL // Apr 7, 2008 at 16:48
Ed - I think the new banner picture is great, having the team in formation & the sky line is all excellent…. But could you have a happy Keegan instead?!!!
26 Ed Harrison // Apr 7, 2008 at 16:51
Obafan - thanks for heads up - in fact Faye’s goal was last one ManU conceded in the league before yesterday’s game against Boro. It’s down there now.
27 JP from The Rock of Gibraltar // Apr 7, 2008 at 18:01
ED- Nice banner especially the way you have set the players up in the formation and starting line-up we are playing now
Shame about Keegan wearing a Man City coat

OH YEAH thats the starting line up, didnt even notice
30 Grey // Apr 7, 2008 at 21:56
Couldn’t agree more about him being Big Sams best buy, but lets congratulate the whole team, Geremi & Barton have shown us how they can play in the last few games!
31 IrishMan // Apr 7, 2008 at 23:00
At last you put Harper on banner.
32 KKN39 // Apr 8, 2008 at 2:11
contrary to most ppl said we r not blessed w/ wingers: Milner definitely better as AM, Geremi better as DM (well maybe on the right), Zog unsettled and unreliable, Duff’s days as world-class winger long gone (and not to be back i’d say). now 433 is the best system for creativity and variability in attack but we need to bring in new players who can play as a winger & striker & AM. pure one-sided wingers like Lennon not the way to go for future. pacy, skilful, versatile attackers with a bit of steel (ideally two-footed as well) like Arshavin, SWP, Lisandro López, Adriano (Seville), or even Zarate or Chermiti may be the more desirable type of players for us.
33 Whitt // Apr 8, 2008 at 7:38
SWP is hardly 2 footed, no steel, and quite over-rated. pacy, skillful, and versatile…sounds like Milner, Zog, McGeady, and Arshavin.
(Milner’s not so pacy, though)
34 HeronMag // Apr 8, 2008 at 9:08
SWP overrated!? He’s a quality player! One of the best attacking players in the Premiership. Don’t know who you’ve been watching mate.
