Kevin Keegan has certainly been getting the very best out of the squad of players he inherited from Big Sam Allardyce.
Kevin Keegan – I may be dreaming about summer transfers
But that after all is what a good coach does, and there’s no doubt that Kevin Keegan is a very good coach indeed.
While he has been praising his squad over the last few games, and rightly so because of their great performances, he is overlooking the shortcomings in his squad.
That is something he is very anxious to address in the summer as he talked this morning to the Newcastle Journal:
“What you’ve got to have in your squad is the ability to change things at all times,†“I don’t think at this club we’ve got a balanced squad at all. I’ve got one left-back (Jose Enrique). I’ve got one holding midfield player (Nicky Butt).â€
“There’s places where it’s out of balance, but there’s places where it’s very exciting.â€
“I think the summer could be very exciting. I’ve got an idea who I’d like to bring here, but I might be dreaming.â€
That last comment tells you Kevin’s thinking of some big names to bring into the squad, doesn’t it? We’ve been linked with some big name players including Thierry Henry and Deco.
But we see that Manchester City have approached Ronaldinho and have talked to his brother yesterday, who is acting as his agent. If Kevin would like him in the Newcastle squad that should alert the club to get in contact with Barcelona immediately, to see if we have any chance of getting the super-star to Tyneside.
But hey, Ronaldinho, maybe we are just dreaming.
Comments welcome.

Comment #1Do not see Ronaldhino coming to Britain at all. He is still only 28 whereas Henry will be 31 before the start of next season. Does he want to return to the premiership? Both would be great additions though. Who would want to go to Sven’s ship canal when one can choose the Tyne Valley anyway? Nothing wrong with dreaming KK after the nightmare of Fat Sam!

Comment #8Hey Graham – We’re Newcastle United. We are stupid terms and money! Luque, Dyer, Marcelinho… the list goes on.
But every now and then we hit a gem – Tino, Shearer, Ginola, etc

Comment #10hey dyer although injury prone, he brought alot to the team when he played and he may of cost 8mil when we bought him but at one point we were offered 30mil off manchester united for him, we should have taken it but we didnt, also he got us some money back when we sold him… how much was it again?

Comment #12yes chappa useless, while he is not the Henry of old but i meant not footballing wise. That man is not for us, he would think he owns the Toon, just like he did Arsenal. I don’t want him at all. i wouldn’t even want a 26 year old Henry tbh, but hey that’s just me.

Comment #13I think it was £7m or was that parker
Dyer shouldnt have been in that list though heronmag as he did a lot of good maybe Boumsong, Babayaro, Carr, Amdy Faye, Guivarch, Bassedas, Cordone, Viana, Andersson the list could grow and grow and i’ll think of about 15 more names who have robbed us blind in the past 10 years since KK left.

Comment #18players who might be coming in the summer some interesting names but two players who would be a waste of money lennon lots of pace terrible crosser of the ball and pennant even worse, not as good as what is already here don’t waste any money on those two.

Comment #19OK craigg I’ll retract Dyer from my list but you’ve more than extended it haha! But to be fair you have to speculate to accumulate. When we hit it right and get that one player who really hits it off the money made through European qualification, good cup runs, etc more than pays for the mistakes made on the market.

I agree, Bellamy was that signing under Bobby he cost £6m we qualified for the champions league qualifiers 2 seasons in a row £20m straight away money another £10m for our finishes in the league 3rd, 4th and 5th minimum, Extra TV revenue £10m, scored 2 goals to take us to the champions league 2nd phase £10m not to mention the goals and assists tally which was immense.
I was anoyed when he was booed when we played Liverpool at SJP last season as he was treated badly by the club and the texts to Al were just frustration.
Its not like Shearer didnt benefit from Bellamys ability he kept Shearer at the top level for about 3 and a half years with his movement.
Fat Fred should be shot for sacking Wor Bobby and letting not so Golden Graeme get his grimy hands on our beautiful football club and be castrated for loaning Bellamy to Celtic costing us the UEFA Cup and the selling him outright.

Comment #21Ronaldinho would be worth evry penny ….not just for his skills, but for merchandising. Usually i am a die hard socialist and would never stoop to consider it, but Mike Ashley has pumped mega bucks into Newcastle and im sure that his enjoyment aside he wouldnt mind topping up those billions. And out here in Asia the premiership is taking off in a big way….unfortunately i am one of 3 real geordies in black and white that has to sit in a sea of Taiwanee Man U and Arsenal fans – well plastic fans. No Taiwanese recruits for Black and White yet but im working on it – and im sure Ashley is to, for all Asia. So Ronaldinho would go some way to increasing our standing with this new group of supporters, even if they cant spell the place or find it on a map !

Comment #23fan of bellamy craigg??? he did do some good on the pitch for us i’ll admit but i never liked the guys attitude and that was before i heard about the phone call business.
my mates used to slag me off anout him too early on in his toon career for being just about the worse finisher you’d ever seen, how many one on one’s did he miss in his first couple of seasons..?
well pace to burn i guess? and at least he got into the position right?! nah i for one haven’t missed him.

Comment #26Don’t remember off hand mate, but i feel you’ve got to factor in the team and manager around a player as well…
Martin’s would of been superb under bobby, running off shearer playing attractive attacking football, I’m sure owen would of done alright too.
Alot of the managers that have come and gone since sir bobby have been the problem, not so much the players at times.
I think KK’s proven that .
