Sister Josepha Matthews Meets The Messiah – Video

A great story on BBC Look North about Kevin Keegan and one of his biggest fans.

Kevin meeting Newcastle fan Sister Josepha Matthews yesterday

Newcastle United manager Kevin Keegan met one of his most devoted fans yesterday, when he met Sister Josepha Matthews at St Vincent’s RC Primary in Newcastle. Sister Matthews is a 53 year old Nun who has supported Newcastle United for 37 years and used to play football herself – as a center forward, no less.

The football-mad nun uses Newcastle legends Jackie Milburn, Alan Shearer and of course Kevin Keegan, in her teachings at the Roman Catholic school.

Keegan told BBC Look North.

“It’s the first time we’ve met. She’s a character,”

“She reminds me of a teacher who influenced me. She used to referee and you never argued with her as a nun.”

Sister Matthews has worked diligently over the last few years raising money and refereeing matches for the school football team.

She talked to BBC Look North and was obviously delighted to meet Kevin:

“I think they’ll see first of all that Kevin Keegan is a friend of Sisters,”

“To think that he would come into our little school. I can’t believe what has happened today – it’s brilliant.”

Kevin is so popular at the club, because he is always willing to do these kinds of things, and long may he continue. It’s a credit to the football club.

And there’s an obvious reason why Sister Josepha Matthews was so delighted to meet Kevin yesterday – after all he is the Messiah – at least in and around Newcastle. 😀

Here’s the video on it.

I saw this on the Belgian tv channel (PRIME SPORTS) yesterday. It was lovely to see how KK was animating the little kids.

The sister is educating new Geordies year in year out 😉 . Keep up the good work lol.

When Keegan was manager the first time – he used to take the players to the hostipals to cheer people up, and they used to take orphaned kids away on trips like to lap land nd what not. Was a real community thing – id almost fortgotten about all that until i read this. Now you see this is also what i want Newcastle to be again. As we climb back to the top – in europe. I want people to look at us, and not thinks we a bunch of nasty f@#ckers, like Man U, But a truely nice club with nice people. Looks like Keegan is doing all over again. Love the guy – go kev !
