Mabrk Boussoufa Flattered By Newcastle Interest

Anderlecht winger Mbark Boussoufa seems to have welcomed speculation linking him with a move to Newcastle United.

Mbrak Boussoufa – flattered by Newcastle’s interest

There has been news this week that Mbark’s Belgian club, Anderlecht are keen to keep him and their sponsors KIA Motors of South Korea, have even offered to help with his wages to keep him at the club.

However, today Mbark says he flattered by Newcastle’s interest in him:

“I’m flattered by Newcastle’s interest. It is always nice to know clubs are watching me.” “I spent two years with Chelsea, so I know what English football is all about. I learned a lot from their players, especially Gianfranco Zola.”

“I was on the point of breaking into their first team when Roman Abramovich arrived. He signed seven star players, and the youngsters were not given their chance.”

“I would not say no to a good offer from England. If Newcastle want me they must first speak to my club – and then I’ll gladly listen to what they have to say.”

Reports are that Newcastle want an answer to their bid for Mbark by the end of this week. We don ‘t know if that’s true but by Boussoufa’s own words he seems quite interested.

In fact saying you are flattered is a come-on to Newcastle, so it may be the chances are high that if Kevin really wants Mbark, he would come to Newcastle.

What do you think?

Comments and opinions welcome.

i must admit, i know nothing about belgian football,is this guy any good? does anyone know anything about him? where exactly does he play, can he play in more than one position and is he better than what we already have?

  • 2 Midjew // Apr 15, 2008 at 10:17 PM

    Sounds good!

By the looks of it he is a Good Player.

And ONLY 23. So thats good.

    5m Sounds Fair.

He is left sided player i think, so replacement for N’Zogbia Maybe????

Then we can sell N’Zogbia and get a Right Winger Like Aaran Lennon OR Shaun Wright Phillips

    A direct running winger.

THAT WOULD BE GOOD TO WATCH!!!!

  • 3 Yeomsta // Apr 15, 2008 at 10:21 PM

i agree it would be good to watch two pacey wingers but on the negative side i think reverting back to 4-4-2 would spell the end for oba martins. he’d bench warm for a season then leave and to me thatd be a tragedy

  • 4 matthew // Apr 15, 2008 at 10:22 PM

i know him. he’s a very quick agile technician.can play in every attacking position, midfield as well as a forward(although he is better on the wing)uses both feet perfectly. i think he’s a future star but the only thing that’s concerning me is that he’s maybe a bit too light for the prem league

  • 5 Dirk // Apr 15, 2008 at 10:26 PM

not necessarily the end for oba, we could keep this formation and instead of geremi and barton we could hav some wingers flanking our strikers and leave but as holding midfielder

  • 6 Tom_Toon // Apr 15, 2008 at 10:33 PM

    Harper
    Beye Faye Alves Enrique
    Barton Petre Emanuelson
    Suarez
    Martins Owen

Subs: Given, Taylor, Edgar, Butt, Boussoufa, Milner, Viduka

  • 7 Spyro // Apr 15, 2008 at 10:46 PM

This guy is decent, but nothing to shout about, there are better wingers out there and personally i feel this guy should only be cover for our main left winger.

  • 8 Spyro // Apr 15, 2008 at 10:49 PM

Most people dont realise that if we get rid of Emre and get Boussoufa we are actually giving away the better player regardless of age. If only Emre wasnt so flipping injury prone he would be great for us. oh well.

  • 9 Spyro // Apr 15, 2008 at 10:50 PM

if we are going for Anderlecht players then we should go for Biglia aswell

  • 10 Dirk // Apr 15, 2008 at 10:51 PM

    as in

    …………..Harper
    beye….taylor…faye….enrique

    ..milner….butt……duff
    …………..owen
    ……viduka……martins

  • 11 Hadrian // Apr 15, 2008 at 11:01 PM

    mbark > emre
and dont kid yourselves thinking otherwise ,
one is young , has bags of potential , skillfull , quick and a great left foot .
the others always in the medical room .

mbark is nowhere near the finished article tho , but the couple of times ive seen him play he’s stood out as having great control and being quick .

has emre ever delivered in a toon shirt ?
for the time he’s been here , i really cant rate him as a top class player like his fellow countrymen like too .

  • 12 Spyro // Apr 15, 2008 at 11:04 PM

Hadrian r u trying to say that when both are fit boussoufa is better then emre? thats just stupid if you are

  • 13 Spyro // Apr 15, 2008 at 11:05 PM

Boussoufa doesnt even have the potential to be better than Emre, let alone already be better than him, people on here need to watch this guy more and stop assuming he is a top player, he aint, hes decent, thats all

in fact, if this guy was 2 or 3 years older i would be 100% against us signing him

  • 14 Tom_Toon // Apr 15, 2008 at 11:12 PM

We should just pay 20 odd million for Joe Cole, problem solved.

  • 15 Spyro // Apr 15, 2008 at 11:15 PM

Tom Toon, what is your view on Boussoufa?

To me he is just another ‘giles barnes’ style signing, could be good if you can get him on a cheap, but no one is going to lose seep if we miss out on him.

  • 16 NUFCFAN // Apr 15, 2008 at 11:20 PM

Tom Toon – agree with you on emmaulson – spelling. He is class and can actually play left back or winger equally as well.

and sell Nzogbia – would rather keep him however and add emmaulson to the list. Then that would be three top young left siders.

just need that for the right. I have never rated milner, before i start getting abuse for jumping on the bandwagon, but would like a bentley or another quality promising winger maybe like this boussaifa but would prefer Mcgready – no language barrier

  • 17 Tom_Toon // Apr 15, 2008 at 11:21 PM

Admittedly not seen a great deal of him a few uefa cup/cl games and he didnt really set the world alight but i recon he is worth a punt at 5 mil, id have him over Giles Barnes any day of the week.

  • 18 Spyro // Apr 15, 2008 at 11:21 PM

NUFCFAN i am not the biggest Milner fan, but trust me, he is better than Boussoufa and has more potential than him aswell.

McGeady is class though, and so is Emmanuelson, I dont think we would get Emmanuelson though

  • 19 Hadrian // Apr 15, 2008 at 11:25 PM

    spyro
what the hell has emre done ? bugger all as far as im concerned .

ive followed him since his inter days (second fav team) , and cant credit him with anything other than overhype .

mbark has just as good control , and is far far quicker ,
for a left sided midfield player emre’s slow as sin , and those goals he always gets from outside the box are flukes imo .
he hasnt been able to pick a defence splitting pass out all season .

and mbarks and milners final ball seems worlds apart to me , how many crosses you seen milner land? when you take into account how many he puts in the box .

  • 20 NUFCFAN // Apr 15, 2008 at 11:26 PM

to be honest since looking at boufoussa on you tube he looks a little small to me as well – Sagna would eat him let alone the bottom clubs defnders who would sneeze and knock him over.

thing is what other right wingers are there? Bentley, i can imagine him signing for other clubs. Pennant is rubbish. Struggle with much else.

Agree with you with milner thing he will be a decent squad player for a long time, and think that he would stay loyal too, but not a great winger. cant imagine him scaring full backs when they see his name on the team sheet

  • 21 Tom_Toon // Apr 15, 2008 at 11:28 PM

NUFCFAN – Aaron Lennon is smaller!

  • 22 Spyro // Apr 15, 2008 at 11:29 PM

Hadrian your comments about Emre seem unfair and i too saw him at Inter, he was a good player there. To say his long range shots are flukes is just silly and he is hardly slow. Also, Emre is hardly an out and out winger.

well i have seen a lot of Boussoufa since he plays for the same team that my favourite young CM plays for, and to tell the truth, he has never stood out to me and just seems like good back up, thats all.

  • 23 Spyro // Apr 15, 2008 at 11:32 PM

NUFCFAN, i agree with you about milner on the wing, i personally feel he could be great as an AM rather than a winger and have said it many times. He is not fast and is not a great crosser, but he can shoot with both feet, can can pass and move very well, is not weak and has a little bit of skill. His qualities are more suited to being a central player dont you think.

  • 24 NUFCFAN // Apr 15, 2008 at 11:32 PM

not denying that Tom Toon, but being foreign small and a winger – cant think of many that have done that well – Zola who was class and i know that boussafa trained from him but still. on the other hand 5 mill isnt much to gamble with, not really fussed just not convinced that he is going to set the prem alight

  • 25 Hadrian // Apr 15, 2008 at 11:35 PM

youtube clips are crap for rating players ,
but check out his final ball and control

    http://video.google.co.uk/videoplay?docid=-4864203103780632039&q=mbark+boussoufa&total=56&start=0&num=10&so=0&type=search&plindex=0

  • 26 NUFCFAN // Apr 15, 2008 at 11:36 PM

i would agree with the milner thing – but emre is better at that type of stuff than milner – has quicker feet – however milner has the strength on him.

Again just another position that needs filling by another player more youth, dutch and portugese who are phenominal at keeping the ball and passing – which is why Veluso and Moutinho are exciting targets but yet again – i think quite unrealistic

  • 27 Spyro // Apr 15, 2008 at 11:36 PM

And trust me NUFCFAN he probably wont, i dont mind if we get him for fairly cheap as there is always a chance he could be great and he would be at least a decent winger, but some of the hype about him on here is unreal. There are better wingers out there

  • 28 Hadrian // Apr 15, 2008 at 11:36 PM

i am probably being a bit harsh on emre , but he’s had his chance here .
and his agent is pimping him out all over europe for a reason , and nobody wants him unless its on the cheap.

  • 29 Spyro // Apr 15, 2008 at 11:37 PM

Veloso is class, i have always said that

  • 30 Spyro // Apr 15, 2008 at 11:38 PM

yeah Hadrian i can tell you probably had big expectations for Emre, and you are right, he hasnt delivered really, but if we could keep him fit he is a great player who i would really want to keep if he wanted to stay

  • 31 Hadrian // Apr 15, 2008 at 11:40 PM

veloso will be on manu’s books before long .
but the big teams cant afford all the talent out there ,
i defo thinks its worth a punt on the likes of diego , modrik and VdV .
sven seems to agree with me aswell , and we can pay better wages than them lot and sustain it .

  • 32 Spyro // Apr 15, 2008 at 11:41 PM

it feels weird me defending emre now considering just the other day i was debating with someone who had some deluded belief he was the best passer in the premiership, go figure

  • 33 Spyro // Apr 15, 2008 at 11:44 PM

i think we should go for Jeremy Menez if we are feeling lucky, we could probably get him for around 10mill and he can play both wings, AM and striker.

  • 34 NUFCFAN // Apr 15, 2008 at 11:45 PM

I have the feeling that spurs, city and ourselves are going to be scrapping over the scraps of the players the top clubs in europe dont need. So will be interesting – would have been nice if spurs werent in Europe though – level playing field!

  • 35 Tom_Toon // Apr 15, 2008 at 11:48 PM

So many good players, dunno who i want!

Id say defintely look a Ovidiu Petre because he would be cheap and is pretty damn good.

  • 36 Spyro // Apr 15, 2008 at 11:50 PM

who does he play for tom toon?
    what position?
    how old?

  • 37 Hadrian // Apr 15, 2008 at 11:50 PM

we have the upper hand over both spurs (wage structure) and man city (cant fill their stadium all year round)
but i agree , its the leftovers we are going tobe getting .
cant see manu going daft unless they get some champ lge money off winning it .
chelsea are gonna spend like mad.
arseanl may spend this season , but wenger will be cautious about it .
and god knows whats gonna happen in liverpool , cant see loads of fund being released in the current climate .

so yeah i think were gonna have a pick of some decent players even after the big teams are done .

  • 38 ToonKing // Apr 15, 2008 at 11:51 PM

i don’t know what to say……i’ve seen him a couple of times, he’s tricky and fast and has a good delivery, he also like to dive so he’ll fit right in the EPL….but he’s is very fragile…… dunno.. guess i wouldn’t mind taking a gamble for 5 mil.

  • 39 Tom_Toon // Apr 15, 2008 at 11:51 PM

    Steaua Bucharest.

We need to find the new Hagi. Now he was a player.

  • 40 obafemimartins // Apr 15, 2008 at 11:54 PM

i dont care if i get stick for this but one player we need to keep is geremi. he plays some of the slowest football on the planet but we have 38 points currently. 35 (10 wins and 5 draws) of them when geremi has been playing which suggest the team play better when he is in it.

  • 41 ToonKing // Apr 15, 2008 at 11:54 PM

may i add that the guy has his own website…..so he must be good :D

  • 42 Tom_Toon // Apr 15, 2008 at 11:55 PM

ToonKing – Thoughts on Florin Costea, he meant to be the new Hagi or something?

What about Ovidiu Petre as a cm for us?

  • 43 ToonKing // Apr 16, 2008 at 12:02 AM

as i said Tom_Toon i rarely watch my home league but from what i’ve seen he is a pacy, strong striker has a bit of flair too. he squanders a lot of chances though.

Problem is that the only thing that popped in my mind when you mentioned him was what happened a couple of weeks ago, the news were all over it. His coach asked him to play left winger and he said that he doesn’t like this tactic and that he can’t play on the left and wants to play striker. He was sent to the reserves.
Not really the kind of attitude were looking for ;)

  • 44 ToonKing // Apr 16, 2008 at 12:06 AM

Petre is a good player, very experienced and talented, good distribution. had a lot of knee problems from what i know. He and Mirel Radoi are both considered great defensive midfielfders but both of them are very injury prone.

  • 45 Elliott // Apr 16, 2008 at 10:36 AM

I’m sorry but Emre is rubbish. He’s done nothing in his time here and should be moved on.

  • 46 ToonKing // Apr 16, 2008 at 10:41 AM

FINALLY its back online, i was ready to go back to the bottle again….

  • 47 Elliott // Apr 16, 2008 at 10:49 AM

He looks very small this lad, but if he can clear the first man at a corner I’m interested.

  • 48 londontoon // Apr 16, 2008 at 10:53 AM

Keegan said he wants 4-5 top class players and a few youngsters, maybe Keegan considers him as one of these youngsters who can develop into stars in the future but not straight into first team.

  • 49 Obafan // Apr 16, 2008 at 10:57 AM

Again Boussoufa is not the player Newcastle needs. I think it is very good to look at younger players for the future, but he is not that special.

In Gent he played a good season (cause njo pressure on him), but in Anderlecht he never reached his level from his Gent period (reason: too much pressure on him; in Anderlecht peple expect a lot from their players). And if I reckon it is the same at NUFC :D .

He is not a bad player, but we really should aim higher and 5m£ is too much for him!

  • 50 Spyro // Apr 16, 2008 at 11:20 AM

Obafan i am 100% with you on this one, we can do better

  • 51 Stevo // Apr 16, 2008 at 1:34 PM

am I alone in thinking Gudjohnsen would be a brilliant signing?

I’m disappointed that we’re not making more noise about this potential transfer..the lad is genius yet hard working.

  • 52 Leo // Apr 16, 2008 at 2:20 PM

yeah i was confused about why the site was gone, any word about what happened?

  • 53 ObaFan2 // Apr 16, 2008 at 2:51 PM

    Joe Cole definately.

  • 54 scottish mag // Apr 16, 2008 at 5:24 PM

to all the people saying he is too lightweight, i laugh, u should of seen him v madrid, he was ripping there defense too shreds and getting stuck in about them, he was holding of challenges and beating the defenders, and have u lot not seen how good his cross is, he would be quality signing i really hope he comes to us

  • 55 adam // Apr 16, 2008 at 9:08 PM
