Nicky Butt – Feel Good Factor Back

Nicky Butt has been given an extension to his contract and will still be at the club next next season, and it looks he is really looking forward to it under new manager Kevin Keegan.

Nicky Butt – has been Newcastle midfield maestro under Keegan

Nicky thinks that since Kevin Keegan came back to the club it’s no coincidence that the team’s fortunes have been turned around, even though it took 10 games to register the first win under the new manager.

Nicky told Newcastle’s official website today:

“It’s looking exciting for the club at the moment and there’s no doubt we have the potential to be up there next year,” “We need to wrap this season up on a high and then get a well-earned rest during the summer.”

“After that we can look to next season and see what players the manager can bring in to assemble a squad which can challenge.” “The feel-good factor is back and there’s a great atmosphere among the lads at the moment.

“Confidence is the big difference because once you have that you try things that create chances and goals.” “It’s good that we did stick together and showed team spirit through the rocky patch.”

“That’s important ahead of next season because you need that to stand a chance of achieving anything.”

Nicky has stacks of experience of course from his playing days at Manchester United, and will be just as important for the team next season, although Kevin has promised to bring in another top defensive midfielder, to help Nicky out

That will allow Butt to get a rest now and again, but he’s been starting every game since Keegan arrives, and he’s playing his best football ever at Newcastle nowadays. Long may it continue.

I already forget how the feel good factor is.

This season makes me immune to losses but extremely great feeling when we win, although that won’t bring us anywhere far.

Sigh… but this weekend is another highlight of our calendar. Then beat West Ham to give them more pressure. After that kills Chelsea hope of PL title hope and deny Everton a place in Europe.

    Good luck!

before anyone comes on whinging saying- “how come he got a new contract!” etc…

it was merely an extention, needing very little negotiation, either that or nick butt has one hell of a good agent, maybe butt should give his number to taylor.

Butt will def have a part to play next season – he’s done well in the last 6 or 7 games, we need to sign someone to take over the holding midfield role and Nicky will make a good backup.

On another topic – who on earth is voting for a sunderland win!!!! there’s two of em and I suggest Ed kicks em off this site

How on earth did he get a new contract, oops sorry Leo. 🙂
Actually it doesn’t surprise me, KK is very loyal to players who he thinks are working for and with him and Butt certainly fills that criteria.
Thats why Smith and possibly Carr will probably be there next year.

I must admit I have expressed my doubts about Nicky Butt too. Under KK things are turning out to be different for him and the team. So, no ifs and buts, or no but, no but no but, we must admit his experience will be with us for a while longer. To be honest I am not complaining. I think next season he will be more of a squad player. Still too much of a player to discard.

When did Kev promise a defensive midfielder? I must have missed that interview?

I have noticed that the person calling him/herself “I hate Nicky Butt” has done one off this blog. Nicky Butt – form is temporary, class is permanent…

yea a win against the Mackems is our top priority now. Hopefully we’d stream-roll the Hammer & then kill off Everton hope for Uefa’s spot & spoil Chelsea’t title hope. Wow!
