Michael Owen’s good form recent scoring spree has seen him voted the Newcastle United Carling Player of the Month for March.
Michael Owen – Newcastle United Carling Player of the Month for March
Michael scored in three successive games last month. The list of potential winners was put together by former captain Bobby Moncur and Lee Ryder, of the Evening Chronicle. The list was Owen, Habib Beye, Nicky Butt, Steve Harper and Geremi.
Michael polled 41 per cent of the vote, just edging out the Senegalese right-back Habib, who got 37 per cent. Owen will be presented with his Player of the Month award just before kick-off at Sunday’s Tyne-Wear derby at St. James’ Park.
Owen said:
“It was from the middle of March that we started to turn things around results wise and climb up the table.â€
“On a personal note, it was nice to get a little scoring run going, but there were some good performances across the team from all of the lads.”
Good words from the captain as usual, and we hope Michael can poke a couple in the net on Sunday too – that would be nice.
Comments welcome.

Comment #4Hes done well but an award decided by Bobby Moncur and Lee Ryder is hardly something to put at the front of your awards cabinet is it? What next…the Alan Oliver award for outstanding contributiion to a match

Comment #7Behrang Safari: 23 years old left back plays for Malmö FF in swedish Allsvenskan. One of their best performers last season (the new season started a couple of weeks agoe). Belive he has played one or two games in the national team so he is one for the future.

Comment #9Wouldnt say no to any of those two. Oki, Baptista had a rough time in Arsenal but why not give it another try. And I have always liked Seedorf, was over the moon when rumours said that Gullit was close to sign him for us when he was here. But I cannot see any of these transfers happen though!
