Ashley Like Any Other Newcastle Supporter – Fanatical

Before the derby match yesterday Mike Ashley popped into the Black Bull pub on Barrack Road for a drink before the Tyne-Wear derby.

Mike Ashley – wearing his new business attire

Mike was seen to down at least a couple of pints, posed for pictures and joined in a few songs with the black and white faithful. News is that Mike knew the words to all the songs – good for him.

The lads in the pub of course started the cries of “Ashley, Ashley, get the drinks in!”  Newcastle fans always seem to think that way with that famous Geordie adage – “Out for Nowt.” 😀

But the Billionaire Owner began handing out pints of lager to all the the fans in the pub, and we’re a good time was had by all – and that was before the game!.

Newcastle fan Jack Harrison, 24, from Heaton in Newcastle,, who was at the pub with Ashley, commented:

“He seems like a great bloke, he’s just one of us.”

“It’s great how he bought everyone a pint – there’s not many Premier League club owners who have a few pints in the local instead of the director’s box.”

After the game Ashley was seen to be dancing in the Director’s box after his team finished easy 2-0 winners, with both goals from Newcastle captain Michael Owen.

Newcastle chairman Chris Mort knows all about how Ashley wants to support his club like any other fan as he said:

“Mike’s been very clear from the outset. He’s wanted me to run the club, and he wants to enjoy his football on a Saturday or Sunday afternoon.”

“He enjoys supporting the club in every respect. Lots of fans have a quick beer before a game, and he’s no exception.”

Well, it’s not surprising that Mike had a great day yesterday, that’s for sure.

And we’re sure he downed even more pints after the game. Just like any other Geordie last night.

Great to see. During these times of political correctness, how refreshing to see an owner of a club not only wearing the club shirt as apposed to a shirt and tie, but in the pub having a beer with the fans. He might not be a geordie but he is certainly getting closer to being an adopted one.
If we are lucky enough to get the 4 or 5 quality players KK is after in the summer, then Mike hold on to your hat because your not going to beleive what happens next.
    Roll on next season.

    haha legend.

i met the guy at Arsenal and having spoken to him briefly (although about nothing of any consequence) I can honestly say first impressions – he’s a true gent who will always give you the time of day, despite being a very successful billionaire businessman. Speaking to the fans and just generally having a good time in amongst the Geordies.

To echo the article – very few, if any, club owners like this guy. Who needs the Abramovich’s, Hicks and Thaksinatras – THERE’S ONLY ONE MIKE ASHLEY!!!

He’s a top bloke. We’ll do alright with this gadgy.

From what i’ve heard from an insider, he’s prepared to back KK all the way.

Obviously the club are not going to shout this from the rooftops, coz that only bumps the price of any prospective summer buys.

If we can add a bit of quality to our midfield, one or two at the back, & maybe add one more up front, then we will have a squad that can compete for for a europe place next season.

Lets face it, Spurs, Everton, Blackburn, Man City, West Ham & Pompey arnt that far ahead of us, now that the team are playing with more confidence.

Also, if we can make the same noise at SJP as we did yesterday, the players will respond positively, its like having the perverbial 12th man!

Howay the Lads & Keep the Faith !!

King Kev stated when he returned that owners like Mike Ashley do not come along very often and as long as we make him happy then he will stick around and benefit the club.

Well Kevin and the team are doing their bit and the supporters are doing ours.

It is good times ahead. The main thing is that Mike wiped out the debt and is not milking the club for his own profit. He is already wealthy and does not need to rape the club as per the previous regime.

This means that the club itself with the vast support and merchandising can sustain big transfers going forward. This means the club is REALLY on the up as we do not need a wealthy owner to keep dipping his hand in his pocket.

However I do think Mike will assist with the odd transfer as a gift when we need it

All my mates who said KK return will end in tears were right……….. Tears of Joy

The futures bright – Its black and white…..

Ashley Mort Keegan , its really gonna work isn’t it? They know what they are doing and – so far- its been done with honesty integrity and belief. We’ve just got to learn not to read crap hack journalists mainly from dahn sarf who will write anything to keep their editors need for column inches satisfied

Thats a good point any money from sales of tickets merchandise and hospitality tv ect can now be invested in the running and buying of players of the club we do not need to pay off debt and once we get over the initial getting back up there we will really take off I really hope big ASH is in it for the long haul he has got a massive asset there and he knows it the club is now being run proffessionaly let the good days return

Haha, what a difference a month or two makes eh? I vividly remember several of the posters above (I wont name and shame) totally slating Mike Ashley for his choice of Keegan, and also that he was destined to ruin the club and walk out. Fickle….very fickle!
Still, I’ve been behind him all the way, and for the first time ever I can say that I’m looking forward to the end of the season so Fat Fred and Fat Sam can be banished from Newcastle memory FOREVER!!

l believe we have the perfect setup at our club at long last. No debt, no ego’s, and a long term plan to break into the top tier of the premiership.
When Kevin said it was impossible to buy the creme de la creme players he is talking both in the short term and using a bit of reverse psychology.
It will be impossible next season, but he will still bring in players who will make make us stronger and more competatative and creative.
Expect the fireworks the season after next if we continue our upward momentum.
Newcastle are in a position to buy any player in the world but need to be offering Championship football, but when that happens god knows who will be in our squad.
Don’t expect Kevin to say this though because he has learnt from past mistakes and will be low key.
Watch how the southern football press and Ferguson/Wenger react and talk about weak defences.
When this happens you will know we have at last found our true standing in the game.
