Chris Mort was delighted with the win over local rivals Sunderland yesterday.

Chris Mort - Newcastle Chariman will negotiate with Michael’s representatives

Chris Mort is the one who will be negotiating Michael’s new contract from the Newcastle side and he said today:

“As we have said all along, we are obviously keen for Michael to stay.”

“He’s a fabulous player and he showed that again.”

“Now we are looking forward to sitting down with his team and working out an agreement for him to stay at Newcastle United.”

Mike Ashley went into the Newcastle dressing room after the game and he was ecstatic with the victory. We have to admit we’ve never seen the Newcastle Owner so happy as he was after the win.

Chris Mort continued:

“As I have said all along, Mike has been very clear from the outset.” “He wants me to run the club and he wants to enjoy his football on a Saturday or Sunday afternoon.”

“He enjoys supporting the club in every aspect. Lots of fans have a quick beer before a game, and he was no exception yesterday. And after the game he went down to the dressing-room to say well done to the players and Kevin.”

“Obviously, I’m thrilled with the result,” “To go in at half-time against your biggest rivals 2-0 up was a great experience.”

It’s great to have an owner with the passion of a Newcastle United supporter. Just imagine what he’s going to be like if Kevin builds another fantastic side, that could even challenge for the Premier League and other trophies.

We don’t think that’s too far away.

Comments welcome.

Considering it was because of Sunderland that MA began sitting with supporters in his Toon top and they (Mackems) stopped MA from buying drinks for all Toon fans at the stadium of shite has made this win even more enjoyable.

    Keanes face lmao……..

They were poor tbh with no real cutting edge up front and when we needed Harper he was there ever reliable.

Great team performance again by us and great atmos by all the Toon army yet again.

As Tery Mac said…. it’s just like the good old times gaffer lmao.

owen is fabulous, that is why he is too good for Newcastle.Btw he is not an idiot. He will wait until the summer to see if anyone will rescue him before he commits footballing suicide again.

Well at the very least we have him until the end of next season. Shaz, you’re right only about one think - Owen is not an idiot - thats why he’ll extend his contract with Newcastle. He’s happy at Newcastle - you can see it in the way he plays.
Ashley has the cash and he will do what’s necessary to keep him at the club so I’m expecting it’ll be a formality.

:) MO is so brilliant & will keep on that way for NUFC for years until he retires in 4 or 5 years.

  • 8 Shaz // Apr 21, 2008 at 15:28

It is not about happiness,it is about trophies and Newcastle will never win them.He will wait.

  • 9 IanG // Apr 21, 2008 at 15:36

Ok Shaz, let’s attempt to apply some logic to your argument.
Try this… It wasn’t about trophies when he chose Newcastle over Liverpool - why would it be about trophies now?

don’t tempt any future fate… ‘Newcastle will never win them’ (any trophy) ? How can you be so sure? We can’t even know for sure if we’ll live another day tough.
yea wishing good luck to all EPL teams in Champion League. Do the best !

  • 20 Shaz // Apr 22, 2008 at 16:11

Well this year’s fa cup is a once off.Anyway the last 50 years is a pretty good indication. That and your defence that never improves over a course of th is the butt of many jokes.Even Cannovaro would struggle to improve it.
