Keegan Totally Focused On 9 Points

Kevin Keegan – focused on remaining 9 points

Before boarding the Newcastle chartered plane to London, Keegan told the Evening Chronicle yesterday:

“Six or seven games ago we set a target to win the mini-league in the bottom half of the table, and that’s still our intention.” “That’s the only league we can win – we cannot get into Europe, we cannot get into the top four or anything like that, but we are trying to win that mini-league, and that will allow us to finish 12th at least.”

“Maybe, depending on other results above us, we might even sneak into 11th if it really went well and teams above us dropped points.” “There is still a lot to play for. It is not what you would dream of your team playing for at the start of the season.”

“But it is reality, and it is still worth winning that mini-league just so we finish as high as we possibly can.” “We would go away for the summer and start to think about what could be next season, not just us, but the supporters.”

“If they go away for their summer holidays thinking, ‘I can’t wait to come back next season to watch the football at St James’ Park and on the road’, then at least we have done part of a good job here this season.”

It’s good that Kevin is right now totally concentrating on the last three league games, but we wonder if he had any chance to talk to Luka Modric and lay out his plans for the club.

Kevin is very persuasive, and we think he will need to be used to convince targeted players to come to Newcastle in the summer, as he lays out for them the vision he has for future success at Newcastle.

Keegan is rightly considering nothing other than a strong finish, and we almost expect all 3 points this afternoon at Upton Park..

Kevin added:

“We have had a season we will look back on and think we could have done better.

“But reality says if we finish it well, we could still end nearly halfway up the table, which didn’t look possible five or six weeks ago.” “There is a lot to play for.”

Keegan will in all likelihood field an unchanged side this afternoon in London, and the team will have to be near their best to ensure a win. That’s exactly what we need so that we still some chance of finishing in the top half of the table.

Keegs seems to be searching the world for players but has also said he wants to buy players with premeirship experience….I think we have enough of them we need a new stylish player. Jeremy Menez at AS Monaco is out there and would only cost 12 mill. Hes tough, fast and would suit us nicely

Sorry ED didn’t read (for once) this article becouse I’m still so excited to hear that we finally could get rid of EMRE! Fantastic news, becouse I believe he will make space for a real fantastic midfielder who does not weaken us all the time with stupid red cards or too many injuries…

still excited about this words from KK as I said – keeps me smiling and hoping for some great transfers! 😉

After waking up this morning to hear the news on losing Modric i wasnt great to be around! however i never expected us to get him before all the gossip – but such is the excitment with this club and its turnaround, you do start to dream, as they have come true before ….Shearer!

but like Ausgeordie said there are other players out there – menez, and the others of moutinho, veluso, diego, Van De Vaart – there has to be the possibliity of one of these arriving.

I hope the loss of Mordic to the spuds is not the start of things to come – loosing out in to class signings after announcing our interest. We may need to do teh business b4 announcing anything – but of course we all want to know whats going on and rumours do have the knack of coming true.

In a similar vein I think this search for players with Premiership experience will result in us getting has beens or paying well over the odds for ‘average’ players – its true that players in the EPL have an inflated opinion of themselves and this seems to be reflected in their fees (especially if they are English) – look at Bent last year. I think we need to cast our net far and get the best from South America, Asia as well as the poorer (financially at least) of Europe.

PS 0-2 today EMO and Carrol to get he goals in the second half – and if that all pans out hte winning lottery numbers are 1, 2, 3 lol

don’t worry we’ll get our fair share of quality signings. this is not merely a practise of balance view on my part- pos v neg. but truly and honestly from the heart and mind i feel keegan will fight tooth and nail for the players he really want.

    believe in keegan.
