Taylor – Chris Hughton Absolutely Fantastic

We’ve been impressed with former Tottenham coach Chris Hughton, since he arrived at the Newcastle club, and it looks as though Steven Taylor is also more than impressed with Chris.

Steven Taylor – Chris Hughton is absolutely fantastic

We have been impressed since Kevin arrived with all of the coaching at the club, but we’ve been especially impressed with Chris Hughton, who seems so enthusiastic, and should work very well with Mr. Enthusiasm himself, King Kev.

Hughton has quietly gone about his business and he has shown why Martin Jol was such a strong believer in his methods during their time together at Tottenham.

Chris’ initial job from Kevin was to put the defense right, and we’ve now had 3 clean sheets in the last 4 outings with the defense. And, dare we say it, the defense is looking superb these days.

Steven Taylor talked about Chris today:

“Chris has been absolutely fantastic,” “Every day, basically all we do is back four work. That’s all we’re getting drilled into us.”“Chris looks after the nitty gritty of the defensive work.”

“We’ve become a unit and much more solid. We’re looking out for each other. If one of us isn’t having a good game, we get behind him. There’s no criticism.”

“We’ve got enough quality in the team to win any game, so it’s up to us as a defensive unit to be solid. It’s three clean sheets in a row now and four in five. We look at it as something to build on.”

“It’s a pity that we couldn’t do it at the start of the season, but it just shows how we’ve developed into a solid unit.”

We now are mathematically safe from relegation but we sense the Newcastle players want to win all the three remaining fixtures to put some gloss on a very disappointing season.

Chris Hughton – with Kevin on the training pitch

We need 3 points today to help get over the disappointment of not being able to close the deal to bring the great Luka Mordic to Newcastle, a good solid win is what we need.

Steven continued:

“The derby win has lifted everybody, the city, the fans, the players,”

“We can’t wait for West Ham now. It’s a big game, we know that, but we believe we can win there.”

So at 5:00pm today we hope we’ll be able to report on the top 10 watch as looking good since we are now just 2 points behind West Ham United. We’ll see.

Comments welcome.

In Jan-March I thought that we had the shittest team in the league and look how KEV has turned it around.
The true test will be the chelsea match, and it’ll show how made 1st team players we need

“Every day, basically all we do is back four work.” That’s cos u needed it and I always said the back four is a unit and need to play together as regular as possible so an understanding is achieved between players and this is now happening.

BSA changed the back four nearly every game!

Gotta beat WH today and another clean sheet would be nice.

Spurs have gotta loose too, they are becoming one of my least favourite teams in the EPL. Twice now they’ve beaten us to a great player and it aint funny.

Apparently Ronaldinho, Beckham, Torres and Ronaldo were all spotted on Tyneside yesterday. What the hell, let’s say Pele was there as well.

    And that bloke from Goal…

I think Taylor is very fair by not only giving lots of credits to KK but also to Hughton aswell. Hughton is involved every game at the sideline and that is very important. Not the way SA was sitting in the stadium with his silly earthing and his chewing gum.

Well done to the staff and board for the last 2 months!!!! Keep the work going and we will land a few quality players who will strenghten us.

    Starting with:
Van der vaart, Arshavin and Gomis!

Not conceded in 334 minutes (five hours 34 minutes) since Darren Bent’s consolation for Tottenham in the 1-4 victory.

Not bad going considering it’s the same players that BSA had.
