Andy Carroll Included In England Under-19 Squad

Newcastle’s 19 year-old promising striker, Andy Carroll, has been included in the England under-19 squad for next month’s European Championship qualifiers in Belarus.

Andy Carroll – called up again for the England Under-19 squad

England will play three matches against Poland, Serbia and Belarus, between May 26-31, with the winner of the group advancing to the finals in the Czech Republic in July.

Andy has appeared as a sub 12 times for Newcastle but has yet to start a game. He started 7 times for Preston North End during his loan spell earlier this season and appeared 5 times for the Deepdale club as a substitute. He scored once for Preston but has yet to score his first goal for the Magpies.

Newcastle management are pleased with the development of young Gateshead-born Andy, who has certainly looked the part when he’s played for the club. We expect Andrew to pushing for a first team position as early as next year.

As expected, England Under-21 captain Steven Taylor and James Milner have been rested by Stuart Pearce, from the England under-21 squad, which will face Wales in a friendly match at Wrexham on May 15.
