James Milner Will Be Raring To Go Next Season

Kevin Keegan has said that James Milner will be available for the game against Chelsea on Monday.

James Milner – skillful youngster has impressed Keegan

Keegan told the Evening Chronicle today:

“I took James Milner to West Ham on Saturday because I wanted to show him that he’s a player I like, and I want him to be part of it.”

“I think he knew he wouldn’t be playing, but when I told him I’d like to take him, he just said: ‘Yes’.”

“He’s got a lot going for him. Like one or two players now, he’s found himself on the outside just by circumstance, and the fact the team’s put a run together.”

“But James could well be included in the game against Chelsea on Monday.”

Keegan has always said that because Milner is so fit, he would not need to be eased back into the team, and we’re sure he will be ready to go on Monday afternoon, if called on.

But we also expect Newcastle to field an unchanged side, with Senegal international Abdoulaye Faye back in the side for young David Edgar, and the best James can do will be to make the subs bench, for what promises to be an exciting last home game of the season.

James was injured at Liverpool at an unfortunate time, and since there’s only two games left James will probably have to be satisfied with coming back in the close season, ready to fight for this place as a starter in Kevin’s new team.

But James is such a model professional, obviously well liked by Keegan – a wonderful role model for Newcastle’s young supporters – and we’re sure he’ll do just that.

Comments very welcome.

I wonder how well he’d do in Geremi’s place. He’s got more pace. His passing may not be as good, but it’s been a while…

i think after half time it will be changed to 442 rather than 433, im really excited to see jimmy back, even though he doesnt have the best cross he runs his arse off and is a good winger, keegan will make him a better player im sure of this

No Keegan rates him, he’ll be there, make no mistake. Agree with Maverick absolutely a Keegan type player and he will improve, we sometimes forget how young he is as he made his first tean debut for Leeds at such a young age.

geoffo – That happens a lot, I often forget how young Fabregas is because of how young he was when he made his debut.

I like James as a person and for all the work he puts into games, but sadly he aint good enough… His crossing and passing stinks, he isnt THAT fast compared to other wingers, and he holds on to the ball WAY to long making dribles that dosnt help at all and often losing the ball by doing one to many… A more direct winger would be nice, but i would still like to keep James as backup, he is still young and can improve… Names such as SWP, Lennon and Joaquin that we have been linked with would improve the right wing.

And btw, Geremi has been a big factor in our improvement imo… His precise passing and direct play really suits our game.

I wouldn’t be surprised to see Milner leave this Summer, along with N’Zogbia.

Expect heavy pressure to sign him from Villa!

milner is not technically good enough for us. his crossing and distribution is crap. maybe one decent cross every few games. if you notice we have picked up recently since he has been out the team, i dont think this is just a coincidence.ask yourself how many premier teams would he get a game for.not many!

If they would give 5 mill last time, he will properly cost 6,5 this time around. Since he is in the managers plans and we dont need to sell.

He won’t leave, we will look to build the squad this summer and Milner is the only senior player at the minute that is a Right Winger!!

But to be fair I have always thought he would be a good att mid, or play the position Geremi is currently playing (right of a 3 man midfield).

    1, Good work rate.
2, Can hit a good long shot
3, Young, epl experience and good potential

If we buy some top midfielfders Milner would be a great squad player.

We should be looking to get rid of Smith, Ameobi, carr etc… players that just don’t cut it.

I don’t know how i feel about N’Zogbia situation, I think he is a cracking player and with the team attacking more now he would just keep improving!! King Kev should try work his magic make him want to play for us!!

If not ship him out – no point in keeping a player that will not give 100% commitment.

I reckon he’s gonna wanna play for KK!..
…He was prob a bairn when KK was here last time & has some fond memories, even not supporting us!..
…& he’s still young enough to afford to hang around a while!..

Sell Zog to spurs… They cant get enough midfeilders it seems.

Can’t see Zog goin’ to spuds either…They’ve got too many midfielders already…& they’ve gotta stop spending soon, or they’ll bust!..
…Unless they start selling…Then that means getting a whole team to click in time for next season…Sounds like a recipe for catastrophe!..

Milner has been one of our best players over the last 2-3 years. In the drab Souness/Allardyce days Zog and Milner were the only real attacking force we had.

I agree that if Zog wants to leave then let him go but I’m shocked to see so many toon fans turn against Milner.

He’s still very young and over the next 5 years could become a top class midfielder. I’m sure KK will see his potential and try to keep hold of him.

Don’t know what would happen if we signed Joaquin though…

Do not see any reason for Milner to leave. We do need cover for him and Kazenga could well do that. I know I am wary of cast-offs from the Gang of Four but it seems Pennant will be available from the Merseyside outfit. It seems Xavi Alonso too. Now, he is a playmaker and neat and accurate passer of the ball. Worth a look? Both have EPL experience and their ages are OK too. Not Crouch though. Carroll will become better than him.

We haven’t had too much competition for places, Keegan has raised the bar already and by doing so means players like Milner will have to find another 10% to get in the team and stay in the team, I think he will rise to the challengse and if we do bring in Joaquem, Milner can refine his game even more, two quality players in all positions means you can realisticaly challenge at the top

I always quite liked Milner playing as a slightly withdrawn striker at Leeds, but he isn’t going to get that position with Owen doing well there.

I agree his crossing isn’t good enough and he seems to dribble too much with his head down, but KK can teach him to improve on these things.

He’s still very young, very fit and overall a good player. My brother’s a Villa fan and he couldn’t get enough of him that one year he was there, so I reckon we should keep him if at all possible. For one thing he’s versatile, which most wingers aren’t.

Just remember the managers that Milner was playing under, Souness, Roeder and Allardyce, no wonder that lad was not firing on all ctlinders!! No-one was!
Hopefully with Keegan encouraging the attacking style we will see the very best of Milner next season.
He ticks all the boxes of what we are looking for in the transfer market, young, EPL experience, european experience and commited! Why pay £5-10million on a new player to replace him when we already have a real gem, keep Milner!

The lad got injured at the wrong time and unfortunately he has ran out of games to stake any sort of claim to a spot in the first 11.

I would keep him if possible as a squad player, he is not good enough to be our number 1 right winger – Too slow and too inconsistent.

If Villa offer the £8mil that was reported a couple of months back, we should snap Randy’s hands off.

Get the money for him now and sell him to Villa. He will not get much better than he now uis cause he is not that intelligent to learn so much more.

Replace him by Arshavin and then we would have a quality RW.

BTW what did you think about Liverani? Good CDM, good pass, good skill, intelligent, just a bad penalty taker 😉 .

Football is a cruel game cause Rangers do not deserve to be in the final, what a shame for a team like Fiorentina who really want to amuse the crowd. Go Zenit!!!
