Newcastle Transfer News Today

Not too much news today on the transfer although there’s another report that Kevin Keegan is indeed interested in Barcelona’s Deco.

eren-derdiyok-43.jpg

Eren Derdiyok – he’s the number 9 in the air

We think Deco may want to move to the Premier league and we also believe he would be a good buy for the club. But whether we could attract a player of Deco’s ability to Tyneside remains to be seen – but he could do a job at Newcastle for at least the next 3 seasons.

Another interesting story today is that 19 year-old 6’3” Swiss striker Eren Derdiyok of Swiss club FC Basle wants to join Newcastle. He seems to be able to score goals too, having scored 10 goals this season for his club in 23 outings.

Eren Derdiyok has spoken of his desire to play in the Premier League alongside Michael Owen at Newcastle, and he’s already a full Swiss International, having scored against England in February.

So that’s some good publicity for the club and we think Kevin should at least check out the youngster.

Also some news late yesterday that Newcastle may be interested in speedy winger Joaquin of Valencia, but we’re not too sure if that’s an old story, just being regurgitated.

However, we think he’s the type of player who would interest Kevin Keegan so there may be some truth in it.

Comments always welcome.

I was reading the other day that Deco is always out on the Booze with Ronalhino. What type of form has Deco been in when he’s been playing? anyone know?

Tonight see’s Fiorentina v Rangers where Newcastle have been tracking and considering a bif for Rangers centre half Carlos Cuellar. By all accounts, unlike Boumsong, he plays well in all competitions rather than just the SPL.

So will be interesting to see how he does in a big test for Rangers tonight against a quality Fiorentina side.

    This shows Newcastle’s defence targets:

If your on here tom_toon, what do you think of Guillame Hoarau?

plays for Le Havre in French Ligue 2

he’s 24, 191cm, 6’4″ or 6’5″ whilst ligue 2 is not as strong he has scored 31 goals in 40 games, averaging a goal every 112 minutes of play

you can see him on http://www.frenchleague.com

    looks like John Carew

Damned again nothing mentionned about Gomis or Arshavin.

These 2 players would be fantastic signings to start with. If I was manager (if if if 🙂 ) I would go after them, but okay I’m not.

Deco; a part of me says YES; I think a new league would do him good; I think he would prove that he is not past it. On the other hand a part of me says NO, because his form is getting worser by the year and also his attitude is not always that good (remeber Euro 2004 when he was substituted).

Cuellar and Arshavin should be the 2 players who Wise and his staff should be looking at tonight. Let’s hope and burn some candles.

The Swiss bloke should be one for the future we could have a look at definitely. Deco? No way will he want Tyneside. Is Rangers v Fiorentina on TV tonight? If so we should check out this Cuellar’s performance. While we are at it we could look to see if KK, Mac and Mort are there to watch. Anybody we could use playing for the Italians?

Newcastle United are keeping tabs on Hamburg striker Ivan Olic.
Toon scouts have already checked on the Croatia international, though they will face competition from Portsmouth at the end of the season.

maybe we were watching vdv instead of ollic

Why is it we seem to be competing with the likes of Aston Villa, Spurs, and Pompey for players? We must have more to offer surely? They should be crowding round us for our cast-offs!
Have not heard of Olic and still curious about Rangers and Fiorentina match. If Hughton took training then KK was not off looking at a defender. He may have only gone for a game of golf!. I think Mac goes for the beer and sandwiches.

The problem KK is facing that without European football we have to go for those little gems that might turn out to be superstars (Ginola, Tino, Cesc). But for every one of those you could end up with a bunch of foreign wasters who struggle with the speed of the PL.

But sometimes if you sign someone big then other top class players want to come and play alongside them. A possible option for KK

A lot of footballers and clubs will be watching our game against Chelsea on Monday. So as a team we need to look like one that would be good to play in, and as fans give them an atmosphere they want to play in front of. Monday is a massive calling card for Newcastle to attract players.

Hopefully Keegan has more sense to come out and say who he wants…….
if he does it just alerts other clubs to players’ availability hence pushing up the asking price and contractual demands. These days there are plenty clubs with Billionaire owners and money to spend so we need to be as stealthy as possible to snap up the top players. The Modric deal was leaked by the Croatians who no doubt wanted the best price possible for their starlet, expect other cash strapped clubs to adopt a similar approach when the Toon comes a knocking.

    We don’t need Deco.

Marty – personally I would rather see Manure win the title with a mostly home grown / nurtured team rather than the cockney tossers with their billionaire owner buying anyone they think is half decent. Plus i would hate seeing that smug cheating git Drogba with a Premier League winners medal round his cheating neck !!!

I’ve got to say I love the way are prospective strikeforce could look in a few years time where a 6 foot bloke could be considered short alongside Carroll, Zamblera and the likes of Gomis or Derdiyok. All big and powerful, and if we get a good mix of pace and skill then defenders will be quaking in their boots, particularly once we’re back in Europe as those defenders can be on the short side.
