Mark Viduka – Achilles tendon problem

It turns out that Mark has been carrying an Achilles tendon problem for the last few games, and he may need to have an operation at the end of the season, to clear that injury up.

However, he will not miss Newcastle’s last two game of the season against Chelsea at home and Everton away, but will probably go under the knife immediately after the Everton game on Sunday May 11th.

Mark will also get a good rest in the summer, as we reported earlier today, since he will not be playing any World Cup qualifiers for Australia in the summer.

Mark needs the rest and hopefully he will be fit and ready in August, because he’s proved to everybody what an important player he can be to Newcastle next season.

Has he been playing with that?? Is he mad? I felt slightly in my tendon just before a game, played the game and the snap that came when I was going from starting position to sprint with the ball forward was unbelieveable. It hurt unbelieveable bad but it doesn´t go more up than in the calf. And you are from football for a year when it happens. And i´m only 20!!

It was basicly like being shot in the foot. The sound was very loud as well. You can all feel your tendon at the back of your ankle. When you play game it handles like 8*yourbodyweight

So I think it´s kinda unlikely he´s playing with that. Every doctor says he shouldn´t

Sit him out and play a 4-4-2 for the last 2 games or put Carroll up there.

A question: are we expecting to go back to the 4-4-2 next season and is the 4-3-3 we’ve been using more of a quick fix?

If so, now that we’re safe, shouldn’t we be trying the system we’re going to use next year?

I was always under the impression 4-3-3 was a temporary thing, although I’m not sure if I’d be bothered if we kept it next year.

But if the plan is 4-4-2, shouldn’t we try…

    Martins – Owen
    N’Zogbia – Barton – Geremi – Milner
    Enrique – Edgar – Taylor – Beye
    Harper

which would let Duka get his operation, Butt doesn’t get suspended, and brings Zog and Milner back into the team?

Obviously only if 4-4-2 is the formation next season…

    Why ‘fix’ what ain’t broke?..
    …Haven’t you noticed, everyone’s tryin’ 433?..
…If we’re winning, why go back to potentially losing?..
…D’y’think we’ll change back to 442 next season then?..

Its a good opportunity to put him in for a couple of rounds of liposuction at the same time!
