Butt Mustn’t Let Yellow Cards Affect Him Monday

Nicky Butt is on 14 yellow cards for the season, and one more caution and Butt will miss the first 3 games of next season.

Nicky Butt – 14 yellow cards this season

Butt is walking the proverbial disciplinary tightrope on Monday afternoon, but we don’t think it will affect his performance against Chelsea. That certainly mustn’t be the main thing on his mind, and if it is he shouldn’t be played. We’ll need all his combative capabilities to wrestle midfield from Chelsea’s world class midfield players.

Nicky talked about the situation today to the Newcastle Journal:

“It’s not really playing on my mind,” “I’m pleased the title race is still alive – especially for the neutrals that are watching the league unfold.”“I think that for any game at St James’ the fans wouldn’t let us rest on our laurels anyway, but obviously Chelsea are still going for the title so it should be a good game. So there is always an incentive to get a result, especially when we’re at home in front of our own fans.”

“When you’re up against one of the big teams you definitely want to show that you can go out and compete with them. But obviously I’ve got a lot of friends at United who I still speak to and so it would be an added bonus if I could do it for them as well.”

We’re sure Nicky would like nothing better then for this Newcastle team to beat Chelsea, and you just know he’ll be getting phone calls and text messages galore from his Old Trafford mates – a Newcastle win would almost guarantee Man United the Premier title.

But Newcastle should be in the mood on Monday afternoon to give Chelsea all they can handle, and if we can do that, surely it’s a pointe that next season will be a very good one for the team.

By our poll on Monday’s result, 44% of our readers think the game will be a draw and 42% think we’ll win. But that’s only with 379 votes so if you haven’t voted yet, please do.

We sure hope next season will be successful us – but first things first – and let’s see how we perform against Chelsea.

Ed, Butt is a proffessional footballer who is almost certain to pick up regular cards doing the job he does – it goes with the territory!!

I cant imagine it will even cross his mind – if it does, he shouldnt be on the pitch.
