Nicky Butt has had another good season at Newcastle , and he is playing particularly well under new boss Kevin Keegan.
Nicky Butt – success next season?
Nicky is always down to earth, but he also feels that Newcastle are now playing well, and already have some excellent players in the squad as he talked to the Journal this morning:
“I’d like to think there are exciting times ahead for this club next year but every year seems to be the same at this club,â€
“We say next year, next year but we’ve got the right people in place now, the right manager and right coaching staff, and obviously we have got some good players.”
“We need to add to that and then we’ll be able to really look forward to it.â€
Nicky’s right, and since it’s the end of the season we look forward to next season. That was so true under Glenn Roeder two years ago when we won 6 of our last 7 league games and beat Chelsea 1-0 at St. James’ Park with a late goal from Titus Bramble. We finished 7th that year and got into the UEFA Cup by winning the Inter-Toto Cup.
It was also true last season when we had a new manager Sam Allardyce in place, 9 new players Sam had brought in, and a new Billionaire owner Mike Ashley, in place.
But it may be different this time around, because the great Kevin Keegan is back, and if anybody can make this club successful in the next few seasons, it’s King Kevin.
The fans know that very well – and we think they’re right.
Roll on next season.

Comment #5Reports in Sweden states that Sebastian Larsson will leave Brum (even if they manage to avoid the drop). The fee mentioned is 5 mill and that feels like a fair price. Wouldn’t mind us buying him.

Comment #6NO… Not Samir Nasri, at least not for 15 million. Perhaps for 2-3 million… http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Z6L3RtJKv1o

Comment #7Absolutely true point from Butt, We got some exciting time at late and feel we’ll be good for next season again and again. I don’t know why. Hope next season will not be the same.

Comment #8I think Nicky knows the score on his age and time left at NUFC. He is an experienced pro but still has lots to give. For the sake of some solidity as as a guide for the younger players he is needed. OK, he will not play the full game total next season, but it would be good to know he will be there when needed.Success next season. I think so next time around.

Comment #10I´d love Samir Nasri, let Habib make the call. Sebastian Larsson would be nice even do we maybe in my opinion have preatty good cover on the right. And as a Swede it would be nice to have Swedish player in the club of that quality in the club. Not like Andreas Andersson.

Comment #11I dont think so at all… All he has going for him is his dribling skills, no vision, no great passing… Wasnt the price for Ribery 15 million when he moved?, surely Ribery is classes better.

Comment #13Nasri wouldn’t be my first choice for an attacking midfielder but I think to get the quality we want to the club we may need to pay a little bit more than others.

Comment #14Hamas, i agree with that… BUT… Shouldnt we go for someone like Diego and VDV first then?.. I really think what we need as a creative midfielder who can rip open defenses with his passes, rather than a dribler extrodenary.

Comment #18I just can’t see us being able to lure VDV or Diego here though. VDV wants to go to Valencia I think and Diego’s been linked with Arsenal and that type of club. That Montolivo lad who played for Fiorentina last night looked alright, I wouldn’t mind bringing him in. However that would probably only happen if Milan manage to beat Fiorentina to 4th spot in Serie A.

Comment #20Hamas… Modric was being linked with Arsenal, Barca and Real and we still nearly got him, also he ended up at Spurs ffs. Sure we can end up disapointed, but KK has always maintained that if you dont try, you wont win.

Comment #23True, it can’t hurt to try really.
Also, VDV’s mother has moved back to Valencia I think so he wants to be closer to her. Plus I think he supports Valencia anyway.

Comment #25Its always been “next season” for as long as I can remember – even after we had won the Fairs Cup back in 69!!!!! Then there were the 2 FA cup debacles and the League Cup loss to Man Shitty.
But, maybe, this time “next season” might just be a really good one!!!
Fingers crossed eh!!!
