Newcastle United have reportedly reported their interest in a couple of new players.
Jimmy Briand – Newcastle again linked with player
There is news today that Newcastle are interested in 22 year-old Rennes forward Jimmy Briand.
Portsmouth have been favorites for the forward since the January transfer market but French sources today have said that both Newcastle and Arsenal are also tracking the youngster.
Jimmy has played for Rennes 81 times and scored 13 goals for the club and is a French Under-21 International, who stands 5’11” tall.
Simon Vukcevic – attacking midfielder plays for Sporting Lisbon
The agent of Sporting Lisbon attacking midfielder Simon Vukcevic has revealed the interest of three Premiership clubs.
Zoran Stojadinovic claimed Everton, Manchester City, Newcastle United, Valencia and Atletico Madrid all want his client during an interview with Blic.
Stojadinovic said today:
“He is very happy because big clubs are interested in giving him a contract,”
“But he’s concentrating only on Sporting and wants to help them ensure qualification for the Champions League.”
Of course the more clubs interested in the player the better it is for his agent, so he’ll mention as many clubs as he can.
Simon is just 22 years old and has played for Lisbon 19 times since moving from FC Saturn last summer, and has scored 7 goals.
He has already played for Montenegro 3 times so far.

Vukcevic – Hes good but im not greatly fussed either way. Although its refreshing to be linked with a player like this rather than your shithouses like Ben Haim, Nolan etc.

Comment #5I really hope KK is going to be in on the next meeting with a player we are after. All due respect to Dennis Wise but how can he sell NUFC to any player. He has`nt been here 5 min. KK is the only person who can sell this club and all its passion to someone.
I think the Moric deal is a prime example. Do you really think he would have signed for Spurs if KK had spoken to him? I dont think so.

Comment #6aghh more speculation lol. its getting tiresome now i wish we would confirm or reject the storys, although that would mean that the price would jump i guess im just excited but also aprehencive about who we bring in.

Comment #7Not exactly signings thaat would set the squad or the fans on fire… Need to aim higher… MA needs to open that purse and wheel the first one in, when the statement is made, the rest will follow easier.

Comment #12Really I’m quite bored with the speculation crap . It’s to sell papers and to increase the wages and fees of agents and players . I want to see and buy young players who are not in their national side who are out to prove a point , who are keen and passionate . Not overpaid prima donnas coming to toon for a meal ticket with no determination on their future .
I’m glad the Rugby League seasons started some real passion and grit , if are midfield could put 120 tackles in for the match we’d be grateful !!

Comment #14So if they are proved players at international level, they are by default overpaid leaches only coming to NUFC to suck from the money tit?… Some people think to little of our club. Funny how everyone was over the moon when the Modric rumour arrived, now we suddenly dont want players of that class “because they only come for the money”… The grapes are sour said the fox

Comment #15robertsa… Dont worry mate, it dosnt make sense if you think about it… KK would go after Modric, and when that fails he would go after Vukcevic?… Dosnt exactly seem like players on the same page does it?… I reckon we will try for class, and we might get more burns, but we also might get some luck our way.

Comment #22Woah, dream teams… Hmm i might get lost here 😀
Harper (Deserves it)
Beye
Taylor (I know he isnt the finished article, but i think he will be with the right backup)
Metzelder
Bridge
Lennon
Diego
Butt
McGeady
Owen
Berbatov
Tho i use some top players that we might not be able to get, i have left the completely unrealistic targest out like Messi and Ronaldo. i have also used players that we have been linked with at some stage of the season, and tried to keep a few so the team isnt a complete makeover (Butt might need to make way if we’re gonna hit big time)

Comment #30Overpaid prima donnas?? How bet we try pull an overpaid top FOOTBALL PRO?
Some might say Ronaldo is overpaid. Bollox to a teamfull of youngsters trying to break into their national side, bring in some top class players that are busting to prove themselves in the EPL along with the rest of the overpaid prima donnas.
We missed out big time on Modric, next move is another of the same ilk, we can afford it, and we can sustain it, no benefit in being the 16th most valuable club on the face of the planet if we cant go and show it.
