Avram Grant Praises Newcastle Under Keegan

Chelsea must end Newcastle’s recent run of seven games undefeated win at St James’ Park for the first time in the last six league attempts to keep their Premier League title hopes alive on Monday afternoon.

Chelsea Manager Avram Grant – praises Newcastle under Keegan

Avram Grant is right to be a little wary of Newcastle right now, as he believes the team have found some good form and shape under Kevin Keegan.

When Kevin returned to Newcastle in mid-January to replace big Sam Allardyce it wasn’t easy, as the former world-class player had to have Newcastle change the way they had played under Big Sam completely.

And Kevin went a full nine games without a win and took lots of criticism from the press, as you can imagine, during that barren time. But since their first win against Fulham (2-0) at St. James’ Park on 22nd March, the team have been unbeaten with 4 wins in that streak and some very good performances.

Avram Grant talked about the new Newcastle side under manager Kevin Keegan today:

“They have achieved a lot and it shows others that sometimes you need to be patient with a manager,”

“They are playing good football and scoring goals. We have achieved a little bit of history by reaching the Champions League Final.”

“But I shall tell the team: ‘You can achieve more, not only this year. You can put this club on another level if you have the belief’.”

We are expecting a classic game on Monday afternoon, and we think Chelsea will be ready for a tough Newcastle game.

We can assure the Blues that’s what they’ll get from this spirited and confident never-say-die Newcastle outfit that Kevin has magically created since January.

We need to be at our absolute best! Other wise well get stomped on. We need to show SWP and Bridge they have a reason to be here next season. This result could swing some transfer targets our way.

Changing Keegan was a risk Ashley took which seems to be paying off now.

By the way, the mystery as to why Ashley wore Alan Smiths number 17 shirt before Keegan arrived has finally been solved:

Ah well spotted Dunc I saw that story and didn’t put 2 and 2 together. Jammy b*strd though 1.3mil on roullete ffs!

I don’t see why people see this as a potential classic though, this is Chelsea we’re talking about ! 😉 Having said that I stand to be 1.5k better of if it is!

Seen that QPR might name Zidane as their manager? That’d be mad.
