Keegan – It’s Fantastic Working For Ashley

Kevin Keegan has today paid a huge compliment to Newcastle Billionaire Owner Mike Ashley, by thanking him for not interfering with things at the club.

Mike Ashley – great owner for Newcastle United

Keegan is just delighted that Newcastle’s owner does not interfere in day-to-day football matters and that’s fine with Kevinm as he talked today to the Sunday Sun:

“It’s fantastic working for our owner,” “I never see him, and there are no leaks coming out of the club at the highest level. There can’t be when you never talk.”

“What is happening to Sven-Goran Eriksson is beyond belief,” “I believe Sven’s remit in the first year of his contract was to get into the top half of the table – and this is the best season City have had in the Premier League.”

“If Sven leaves City then they’ve got to treat him well. He’s done nothing wrong. They need to pay his contract in full, shake him by the hand and treat him with respect.” “They need to let him go and get another job and there will be hundreds of people who want him as a manager . . . maybe even our fella. You don’t know.”

“Nobody’s safe – but have they ever been? These things will happen more and more as you get more people with money, who have no real idea about football, running clubs.”

“The problem is when they are not prepared to leave the running of those clubs to people who do know football. That’s why Sven is in the position he is in.”

We agree with Kevin and we think the actions of Thaksin Shinawatra, the Man City owner, are deplorable. Sven is much better off getting out of there, and we think Shinawatra will have a hard job attracting a top class manager to Eastlands. unless he agrees to keep out of the playing side of the club. There’s no chance Jose Mourinho will join unless he agrees to let Jose do it his way.

The situation at Liverpool is also not good, and American owner Hicks has been far too outspoken in his criticism of chief executive Rick Parry amid an Anfield power struggle that’s currently ongoing.

Keegan said:

“They’re a club I love and I think Rick Parry has been treated disgracefully.” “What so-called businessmen, who are supposed to know about etiquette, are saying publicly in interviews should be said in the boardroom between individuals.”

“I’d like to think that’s the way it works at Newcastle. People always try to shoot holes in you but they can only shoot holes if you leave the gaps.”

“What I see – and I have my own opinion – is a guy in Hicks trying to get someone so riled that they’ll buy him out for more money. That’s what I see.”

“I might be wrong, but if that’s not the case then why don’t they just get together in a room and work a way through it?”

Kevin is so right about this, and it’s a sad thing when one of the great English clubs is being disgraced by a Yankee owner. The sooner he gets out the better it is for the Reds.

However, at Manchester United, on the other hand, the Glazer family are doing great things at the club and it appears that Sir Alex Ferguson couldn’t be happier with them.

We also believe that things are now in place at the Newcastle club, to allow Kevin Keegan to bring us back into the fold of the great English teams – but of course only time will tell.

Comments welcome.

Best owner in the league. Who else would sit in the away end and sing the blaydon races with the fans? Buy us all pints. One thing lacking. FUNDS!

once there was a time when Sven was regarded as the worst coach of England, most would have thought so but then theres was this geezer called Mclaren and he was even worse so now were all saying that Svennis is not that bad coach after all even though he did f… all for our country (besides playing hoof ball like big sham)- hes being treated poorly hes a good coach, maybe we should have
stuck with him….anyway who gives a sh.. about city – lets raid them for defenders and if they wont sell lets go back and not give a fiddlers fart about them

Agree with toon1978, the jury should still be there for Ashly as he really has not done that much yet.

Watching Man City game now, and I am worrying about the potential signning of Duune now. He is hopeless against top class players like Torres, and we do have defenders like him in our squad already, haven’t we?

The problems at Liverpool aren’t hilarious, they are great club and probably deserving of more respect than any other in the league given there achievments over the years, also great fans who have great knowlege of the game. I for one as a die hard NUFC fan would in no way like to see that great club implode. Yet another insensitive piece of twadle from Hammas ” I hope it ruins the club”!! what are you on????

To be totally honest and brutally frank I do not care two hoots about either ‘citi till i die’ club or fans, nor their ‘city of culture’ (choke) counterparts, over the years I have had very bad experiences with both sets of their fans.

There is and can only ever be one team for me NEWCASTLE UNITED (the real City of Culture), so anything that lessens the competition is fine by me. But leave Dunn at citi please KK. If you have to raid their defenders look at Micah Richards or Nedum Onhua.

    HOWAY THE LADS.

marguerite i agree if we are going to look at mancity defenders nedum onouha would be my first choice, richards will not be coming, no chance, and onouha is a good defender and he is flexible

what dya mean by bad experiences?

Beer and worse thrown at me, threats of violence, insults galore, also witnessed an 8 year old fellow fan set upon and stripped to his shirt at the end of an extremely cold night match by the scouse thugs. When I challenged their cops to do something about it as they were just stood watching, they told me they did not want their heads kicking in!!!!! city of culture indeed – don’t make me laugh!
Sorry GeoffO could not disagree with you more.

Hamas…….you’re an idiot fella. Liverpool are one of the world’s truely great clubs with fantastic fans. I’m black and white till I die, but clubs like Liverpool are what make the Premiership so successful.

There has always been a mutual respect between the Toon and Liverpool – working class people who love football. To want a great club to die shows what a complete tosser you are!
