Emre and Barton Will Not Play At Everton

Newcastle announced yesterday that they have allowed Turkish midfielder Emre to join up with his national side ahead of this summer’s European Championships.

Emre – has been allowed to join up with Turkey for European Championships

Emre is nearly always injured, and he has not played for Newcastle’s first team since February 9th, but it looks like he will be fit and ready to go for Turkey this summer.

Let’s hope he doesn’t get himself injured again.

He will not figure in the final game of the season at Everton next weekend and so Keegan will have seen precious little of the Turk since Keegan arrived back at Newcastle in mid-January.

The 27-year-old has made just 17 outings this season, and like Mark Viduka, has been continually dogged by injury during this campaign.

Turkey will kick-off their European 2008 campaign against Portugal in Geneva on June 7, and Kevin Keegan has confirmed the Turk will link-up with his national side this week.

Kevin told Newcastle World TV:

“We will let Emre go to join the Turkey side because we don’t want to throw him in and get injured,”

“That would not be fair because he’s just got himself back fit again after two bad injuries.”

Looks like Joey Barton will also not play on Sunday against Everton and Kevin may give some other players their chance as he continued:

“Joey also will not be playing and we will go there (to Everton) with a different side and maybe give one or two people a chance who deserve it but have had to wait.”

Maybe we will see Lamine Diatta on Sunday. The Senegal captain has hardly been used since January, and he has made just two brief substitute appearances so far this year.

We’d also like to see Andy Carroll get a run out for Mark Viduka, and hope it’s not Alan Smith who replaces Mark. We don’t want to be too harsh on Alan, but he cannot play the hold-up game, which is one thing young Andy is good at.

That’s one thing we really missed in the second half against Chelsea, and we need to ensure we get someone new in the summer, who can play that game, so we do not miss Viduka so much when he’s out injured, which is quite a lot.

Comments welcome.

Let us see something of Lua Lua too. Perhaps Tozer etc. Certainly Carroll instead of Smith. I would have the subs bench comprised of 5 reserve players. Lets see what they can do. The Everton game a golden opportunity for this.

Emre has been a disaster for us. He is fit when he wants to play, but its so rarely the case these days. He should be sold as soon as possible for a player who actually wants to play football.

Viduka is close to the end of his Prem carreer and a replacement is needed asap – I would leave him out and play Andy Carroll. It can do us no harm but can do him a lot of good.

Smith – waste of space, not even worth assistant corner flag attendant after Mondays performance. Sell him.

Sounds good to me, we have nothing to play for and nothing to lose. The youngsters will want to impress so they should still give Everton a tough game. I would certainly like to see Lua Lua and Carroll start.

i would love it if he plays loads of reserves in the last game against everton, the thought of it is getting me a tad excited haha

    beye edgar taylor kadar
    lualua butt milner duff
    carroll owen

that would be good to see as 3 of our midfielders can play the wing on either sides so they can do all the movement to confuse everton and butt can sit back and destroy their attacks lol

CARROLL!!! a must, we have not nearly even scratched the surface with this youngster! Kadar and Lua Lua should also get a run, maybe Diatta too! Edgar is out with injury still i think!

Emre is a disgusting little racist, and should be banned from football.

Barton is sad little man, and is legally prohibitedfrom the merseyside area whilst the court case is ongoing.

Leo – I like the look of that team, although I think I’d leave Harper in there (Everton are a bit good and we ought to avoid a thrashing if possible) and think about swapping Lua Lua and Milner around.

I watched Lomana play at Workington, and he was deadly through the middle – like Dyer with both legs working.

“maybe give one or two people a chance who deserve it but have had to wait”

Players VERY likely to play: Duff, Smith

    Players likely to play: Milner

Players UNLIKELY to play: Zog, Diatta

It’s unfortunate but I’m pretty sure this is how Kev sees things. I would really like to see Zog playing before both him and Kev make up their minds as to his future.

Emre will be back next season simply because we have a small squad to begin with and we cant afford too much disruption by replacing too many players at once.

    Team for Sunday….

I really don’t think we should sell Emre. Instead, get him fit and get the best season out of him next year!

Would be nice to see the kids given a run out, I’ve watched them all season and it would be nice to see them playing for the first team. Carroll, Lua Lua and obviously Edgar who is fit having had his stitches out today.

When was the last time Emre was fit enough to play 6 games in a row???

Enough said – he was a great player, he is no longer able and/or willing to perform at anything like he can/should. Get rid of him while he still has some value.
