John Beresford – Exciting Period For Newcastle Fans

Former Newcastle United star John Beresford doesn’t believe fans need to worry too much this summer that Newcastle Owner, Mike Ashley, will be ready to splash the cash on the right players in the upcoming transfer market.

Mike Ashley – will splash the cash for Kevin

Newcastle fans are well aware that new players are needed at the club, to keep the momentum going, that has built up nicely over the last couple of months.

Kevin Keegan has insisted the best Newcastle can hope for next season is 5th place, and we need some extra quality in our squad to take the team up the league table next season.

If we get 5th, or at least qualify for Europe next season, that will be a great achievement and next year at this time, we can look forward to bigger and better things.

John Beresford also seems upbeat about the club’s situation as he told the Evening Chronicle today:

“I can’t see Mike Ashley not coming up with the goods.” “When you look at the transfer market over the last few summers there are just so many twists and turns.”

“When a player leaves a club it opens up avenues elsewhere and so on and so forth.” “There is no panic about the situation and I honestly think that Mike will succeed when it comes to the transfers and back his manager.”

“I think that Habib Beye was a great signing for Newcastle and he has proved that with his recent performances.” “We’ve seen flashes of Mark Viduka too, while I hope that there is more to come from the likes of Joey Barton and Jose Enrique.”

“It’s still certainly an exciting period to be a Newcastle fan.”

Good words from John, and Newcastle fans will no doubt try to be upbeat about the club’s situation right now, which could be a lot worse given where we were in early March.

Don’t believe all the news you read in the popular press, most of them are just trying to create another media circus at the club.

Upward and onward.

I would have John Beresford, with his fitness expertise, on the coaching staff. Especially for the reserves and youngsters. He knows exactly what KK is on about too. Ashley is not going to mess about with NUFC – he did not get where he is by being a prick did he?

Why is there so much negativity about Ashley opening his wallet to buy new players. The season hasn’t even finished yet and he has already sanctioned a substantial bid for Luca Modric. It wasn’t his fault that we failed to get the pr**k.If that is not an indication of his intentions what is!

The negativity seems to all surround one interview when Keegan was commenting on the Chelsea match and that he wouldnt be able to buy a team to match Chelsea, when he mentioned who was looking to come on the pitch ie Cole and others, he said they had two excellent teams.
This interview after the Chelsea match, talking about Newcastle matching Chelsea seems to be getting mixed up somehow with a later interview purely talking about sales and buying in the Summer.
The press trying to provoke a response and something to write about no doubt.

Beginning to think Sol Campbell would be a wise acquisition on a free. Better than Dunne and a bargain too. A step up for him from Pompey as well. What about Diarra? He is a defensive midfielder and also a right back. Two birds with one stone – we would have cover for Beye.

can diarra move again? he seems to move every window

if we could get him he would be a good defencive midfielder and a right back when needed

if we could get veloso in we would similarly have a defencive midfielder and a left back

    sorted haha

Doesnt this sound like the Ardiles/Francis/Gross/Pleat/Hoddle spurs sides that we knew and felt embarassed for.

We are signing him, him, him and oh him and were gonna win the league and the champions league.

It doesnt matter how big the players reputation is, Woodgate is one of the finest CBs ive ever seen live yet he looks like a sack of shit playing for Spurs as does Robinson who was brilliant at Leeds go to Spurs and look what happens, Bent and Davids show us that despite obvious talent you will be let down by the pigs ear of a squad at North londons 3rd biggest club

Modric may flop as may any of the other players you mentioned

You cannot even spell E’toos name right you tit.

If we did sign Bullard, Dunne etc. that you patronise then we would be signing decent premiership players and we have had lots of success with unproven players like Rob Lee, Andy Cole, Craig Bellamy ETC.

Take it from me you will fail buying all your squad from abroad and letting good prem players like Lennon and Dawson go, Weve tried and failed many times during our years in the premiership just not as many as Spurs.

I am not really bothered about the Spurs pr*ck passing wind on our blog in fact I reckon we should take it as a compliment as he seems to have a need to release the obvious angst that he was born as a spud supporter. I think we can see ourselves as care workers helping the needy in the community. There is obviously something of a freudian nature happening with him, sad but understandable. It is even sadder that he feels the need to use the name of the of a Toon hero, poor chap he needs our pity.

just noticed ed has put on the side of the wall on the site the comments policy for those to read more easily it goes like this…

“This site is a family site and I ask all readers to keep their language decent and if another reader doesn’t agree with you that’s no reason to go off the deep end.

Please refrain from arguments with specific readers online. If this continues I can bar readers from the site, although in the last year I’ve only had to do that with two readers

    Please keep your comments decent.

It’s difficult for me to vet all the comments going on so if it happens again I would ask readers to CONTACT me alerting me to the situation and I promise you I will handle it quickly.

Following is our comments policy for the blog and what our aims are that allow supporters to comment freely on the news of the day regarding Newcastle United.

    Thanks. ” (Ed Harrison 2008)

i in the past have used bad language on hear but have since seen the errors of my ways and now ensure that if i am going to use an explitive i will edit it so only those of a certain nature will understand it. i also try not to have attacks on other bloggers but it is hard sometimes so i will just have to work on that one haha

Ireland heading to the unwashed for 8M.
Good piece of business for them I recon.

We had our shot at Sol, he’s now off for one final payday at Villereal.

Spurs can have E’to and Diarra. If ‘Arry wants rid as quick as Jose and Arsene before him then I’d say “stay away”

With Palacios off to United, Fletcher would be free. Any interest or do we not mind him following Keane to the Stadium of Shitte?

Appas we have a 20M offer on Werder Bremens desk for a certain Samba boy. Come on toon, amaze me!

We still havent started spending with our new owner but when we do start you’ll be 15 points behind us at least.

    lets put things in perspective.

chelsea have apparently bid 55m quid for sergio ramos of real madrid. thats mad tottally wacko, how can you justify something like that. football is knacked if roman is allowed to carry on as soon not even the world biggest clubs will be able to compete for players, when the next dictionary is out abramovich will be in as a definition of hyperinflation.

i reckon keegans got the huff becuase he dared asking for the kind of backing roman gives chelsea not the now average 50m transfer budget half the pl seems to have.

It isn’t easy being a Toon fan but this “southern press” biased reporting is infuriating.

We haven’t even finished the season yet and I can’t see it getting any easier before the start of next season.

Hopefully we’ll be able to add a few quality players and shut the media up again for a while.

All of this because we lost to Chelsea!!!!!

that article backs up what i was thinking… that keegan had asked for big big money 2 spend (80m as the article says) maybe thats what ashley had hinted when he brought keegan in and now the amount if keegan even knows what it is, is much much smaller.

Although KK was dissapointed after the match I thought his comment about the owner was really aimed at Man City and the situation Sven is in.

Why so much pressure on KK when we have a scouting staff to bring new players in!

Also (Ernie lol) Wise is pished because he cannot play golf because he has to attend the meeting with MA n KK….. I can see where his priorities lie.

I’m really worried about this supposed situation concerning keegan.

I hope and pray that he’s getting the backing that we think he will get. MA will surley back KK, and I believe the comments were said to lay down a challenge to MA.

Mort has a very difficult job at the mo. He needs to be seen supporting KK, but at the same time not giving much away. Whats the point in leaking a story stating we have say “100m” to spend when all that would do is push any given asking price up.

Keegan should have a job for life with the toon, he’s the only man that we’d ever put up with, Sir Bobby aside. It’s time for trust and with time KK will deliver !!!

I just really hope that this story is made up and MA doesn’t do something silly. As i’m writing this I’m thinking how long the “Sven to the toon” rumours take to get going 🙁

Who ever is manager here would want funds available, that is any manager with ambition.

Sven spent a load at City and imo did well this season.

I also think the press loves to put the cat amongst the pigeons where Newcatle are concerned. Making a mountain out of a moal hill etc.

Hopefully MA isn’t furious but wants to assure KK what the plans are and who they are trying to get and I believe the money is available for the right players at the right price.
That was always my understanding, like Woodgate and Modric. Unfortunately both these chose somewhere else for other reasons(or at least thats again my opinion).
