Popular Press Becoming Mischievous Again

The popular press are loving the fact that Kevin Keegan made some outspoken statements on Monday night after the Chelsea game.

Kevin Keegan – press trying to stir things up – again

And news in the Daily Mail this morning, that stalwart of truth in reporting, that Kevin is close to resigning from Newcastle United.

They are trying to say there are battles going on behind the scenes between Kevin and Dennis Wise and the recruitment team, about who the club should be signing.

But that’s complete nonsense, because Chris has already said today, once again, that Kevin is in charge of who the club goes after.

Kevin chooses the players he wants, and it’s then Dennis Wise’s job, with Tony Jimenez and Jeff Vetere, to go out and get the players.

Let’s see if we can find the right words to describe this report in the Mail – it’s a complete load of tripe.

But there’s no smoke without fire, and we think something is definitely bugging Kevin, and as we reported earlier today. he will be having clear-the-air talks with Chris Mort this week, even today.

We fully expect whatever problems there are, to be cleared up quickly.

But until then, we are sure there will be some outlandish stories in the press.

The last thing we want, after gaining some good stability on the playing side of things, is another media circus surrounding the club.

Comments welcome.

What I would like to see is a public flogging at St James of the idiots who purvey this sort of rubbish. Now that would be real newsworthy.

sick of hearing this shite, we gave chelsea, one of the best teams in europe a good game, and took the play them. Now we are reading this rather than talking about some positive football.

Just an idea for you ED HARRISON:

We are all sick and tired of the press twisting Newcastle stories and making our club look like arse.

Therefore I suggest (as the bset supporters in the world) that we make a stand for our club and try to get some coverage on it.

    Say we targets Skysports News.

We got every possible Newcastle fan we can to email Skysports stating that we are pleased with the way things are going with the club and beleive we have the set up to make the club huge in the next few years.
Also stating that it is not our expectations to breech the top 4 and that we have faith in both our manager and the board!!!!!
We then state that no matter how much nonsense is printed to stir trouble at our club it will only unite the supporters behind the club and management!

If we can get everyone on the blog to do it and spread the word. Surely we can make some sort of impact.

At the end of each article state your name, support for the club and country.

Ed perhaps you can write something we can copy and paste and add our names to via email?

Exactly the Mail isn’t popular with anyone out side of the mothers of the home counties association.

The fact is a lot of what is happening in the press, outside of the Daily sh*t, is coming from direct documented interviews. There is an issue with transfers, transfer budgets and contracts and people have to accept it this time.

Spyro – why ignore it when we have the ability to do something about it? just because they have always done it doesnt make it ok with the TOON faithful!

Keegan has said that he is just a coach at Newcastle, clearly things aren’t all rosy behind the scenes

Keegan just didn’t look happy when coming onto the pitch after the Chelsea game. I don’t think it was the game or result that bothered him – we weren’t that bad (who Knows?).

There would be no speculation whatsoever if he had stuck to talking about the game at the post match press conference.

Of course the press do have an agenda – and giving us real news is rarely part of it. Having said that, I suspect that a large number of the press staffers know Keegan inside out. They know there is potentially a story and know just how to go about getting a result.

    Stami –

Because they will twist it round and make us look desperate. It’s this kind of thing gives them impetus to have a go in the first place! It’s a newspaper not Gospel, just don’t read it.

I’ve said it before, the reason the press have a go at us is simple; it’s because they know alot of Toon fans are stupid enough to buy the papers and read about themselves being had a pop at.

Yes the press is annoying.. but quite how you, Ed, can write an article like this is bizarre… Most of your articles are taken directly from papers… just adding fuel to the fire.

Now matter what the newpapers have an effect on the players and managment even if they are false.

You lot are like our players, when you go one down you put your heads down and give up.
If thats the case no wonder we have never won a thing.

I really dont see how it could cause harm or make us look desperate. Angry yes but not desperate. It would show the players that we are in full support and show MA just how much support he would get if he backed Keegan.

It cant be all bull, why would KK make statements as the below one, when asked about transfers?…

“I am just the coach at this football club.”

Shut up JJ, some of us don’t need to write to the papers to show our support to club, we do it week in week out. No player will question the faith the Toon army have in the club by reading the papers.

What your saying is akin to reacting to someone who is trying to get a rise out of you. It might feel good but serves no real purpose other than to give the reaction they we’re looking for all along and make you look as stupid as they do. Let it go.

Great website and blog. First time of writing – and sadly it’s as a result of JJ’s language. I’ve supported the Toon for nearly 50 years, had season ticket a fair bit of that time. I can recall some dreadful seasons – players like Tony Cunningham – he could trap a ball further than most people could shoot! Mark Stimson, Frank Pingel – the names trip off the tongue like a half-chewed bad peanut. I try never to get too up or down and NEVER to believe the newspapers – remember, they are NOT in the business of telling the truth, only of selling and making money.
My problem? I am a “Yid”. Does that mean I can no longer support Newcastle United? Are you going to allow other offensive language – after all I see lots of loyal, enthusiastic Toon supporters who are clearly from Indian subcontinent families? Do you want to offend them?
    Not appropriate.

jj the reason we havnt won anyfin for 100’s of years is because of the players bottling it when gettin near the final or us as a team not being good enough simple as.

the main reason we hvant won anything is down to the results we get in the cup nowt else. i dont take any notice of the media sh1te and espeically papers like daily telegraph and daily mail. they tek tha p1ss yes wer all sick of it but nothing we can do but win games and get back up the table. media – tw@ts.
