Chris Mort has already spoken about Newcastle’s hopes of retaining Steven Taylor at the club and it seems like Steven is only too happy to sign a new deal at Newcastle.
Steven Taylor – hopes to sign new contract soon
In his interview this afternoon with Sky Sports News, Steven also went on to talk about how much Kevin is respected by all the players at the club.
This is what local lad Steven Taylor said to Sky Sports News this afternoon:
“I’m a Newcastle United player for 13 more months and hopefully I’ll get a new contract, that’s what I’m playing for now.”
“We’ve got one more game left this season, and then we’ll take it from there.”
“Hopefully we can come to some agreement, I’m sure we can. Everyone knows I want to be at the football club, so we’ll take it from there.”
Taylor is quite sure that Kevin Keegan is the right manager to lead Newcastle, after he was a ball boy at Newcastle the last time Kevin was managing the club.
And 22 year-old Steven was one of our best players last Monday against Chelsea, along with 23 year-old Oba Martins, and we know both these players have skills galore, and will only get better with time.
Kevin Keegan is to meet owner Mike Ashley in London tomorrow to discuss various things including our transfer targets, and potentially getting some contracts signed, like Steven’s, and we think the outcome of that meeting will be very positive for the club.
Taylor talked about Kevin:
“He’s got the respect of every single player, the staff and all the people involved with the football club. The fans absolutely love him.”
“This club will be moving forward, and hopefully next season with Kevin Keegan it will be.”
“It shows how much he loves this club, he wants this club to succeed. We are going forward and the form of late has been good.”
“At the start of the season our performances weren’t the best, but the fans stuck behind us through hard times.”
“Of late, they’ve been absolutely fantastic, and hopefully next season we can give them something to shout about.”
Kevin certainly is a very popular guy, not only in Newcastle, but he’s also well liked and respected throughout the world of football, and should be a great ambassador for the club.
But hey – first things first – let’s get Steven’s contract signed.
