£15M For Liverpool’s Crouch – Get Real

Liverpool manager Rafael Benitez yesterday said it would take £15M to persuade him to part with Peter Crouch – but we don’t think so.

Peter Crouch – £15M is silly money for Peter

Benitez says today that Crouch was offered a new contract in December, and then amazingly says the fact that the striker could leave for nothing next summer had not put extra pressure on Liverpool to sell. Oh really.

Benitez said:

“If we receive a very good offer, and by that I mean £15M, we will consider it,”

“I’m reading about £8 million, but if we only receive that, then I’d rather keep him. We’ve offered him a new contract.”

We don’t blame Benitez for trying to get £15M, not at all, but we think Crouch is worth at the very most around £10M, and we think Liverpool may receive offers up to that amount.

If Liverpool decide to turn these offers down, fine, and Peter will move next summer for nothing or in January for a greatly reduced fee.

That’s the truth.

We are interested in the report because we like Crouch as a player, and think he would do just great at Newcastle – but not for £15M.

What do you think?

Comments welcome.

15m is the going rate though! he’s a top 4 striker who when he has a decent run in the team – scores. he also is an england regular – and a player many of the rest of the top 4 find it difficult to play against.

15m today is like 6m when Sir Les signed.

15m? not too bad a deal (but certainly far from the best) if it’s in US$ … yup he’s about half (or less) as good as Sir Les in the same age 😛

I like Crouch but I can’t ever see him setting the world alight. He’s a likeable character and a great pro who I would welcome to St James, but £15,000,000!?

No way. Benitez is trying to play a hard bargain, that’s all. For me £7-£8m should be more than enough to take him away from Anfield.

In any case, there are strikers like Ashton and Gomis who we could probably get for less.

It’s a no-go for me on this one.

Think they would get at most £12 million, considering his contract is up next season. They are probably just trying to up the bid from £8M. Would definitely be an asset to the club, as would Gudjohnsen. Although we could do with more players with pace.

They barely play him, he could walk out for nothing next year and they paid £7 million for him and yet they want more than double that much to sell him.

Benitez says that “would not be unreasonable”.

The crazy thing is that someone will be desperate enough to have him that they will pay that sort of money for him now rather than give it a year and pick him up for nothing.

By the way, I saw him in Ibiza at Space last summer. He was busting out his robot moves, and I had to laugh. His bird is well fit though!

Forget him – whether £15,000,000, £15.00 or nothing. Not for NUFC at all. Gudjohnson could play him off the pitch.

15 million ?? He is no alan shearer or michael owen !! for similar fees !! i would rather wait a year but no doubt would be a good addition to our squad !!

I’m very much a fan of his but not at that price but there are clubs who would probably be prepared to cough up that amount. Look what the Spuds paid for Bent and he is nowhere near as good . I don’t think you would get much change out of 15m for Gomis now either as I reckon his price has been hyped up.
Back to the transfer board fellows.

It’s got to be a ploy by Benitez to get clubs to offer more.

“Consider it for £15M” ? If someone offers £15M, Benitez won’t be able to take that deal fast enough. Chelsea aren’t buying him (they already have £45M of strikers on the bench), so who do they think will cough up that much money?

i think its a good replacement for viduka,
£10m will be a steal if we get him will get 15 goals as a first team regular.

    crouch or gudgonsen for toon.

gomis unproven in prem and hasnt got a class goals to game ratio like crouch (especially in a gay england shirt) or gudjohnsen

ashley get your wallett out biatch!

Aye, target man he is (the lanky twt!), but not for bloody 15mil! No way. Reckon 9 at a push.

But maybe it’s a double-team; one not signing contract, other has crazy values for the player.

I still hope we go after Gomis. Crouch is not my preferred player, but it would not be that bad. From the strikers we’ve linked with recently; this is my list in order to pick them out:
    1. Gomis
    2. Gudjohnson
    3. Henry
    4. Pandev
    5. Crouch
    6. Ashton
    7. Bent

we should not at all be after him anyway, so why discuss this here?? Should some stupid manager pay for him, but not we!!

He can buy out his contract (it is possible after three years) but only if he’ll go to play for a club in another country. So in this case he cannot buy out his cntract.

2 words for you NUFC fans re the 15 million asking price for Crouch – Darren Bent – he went for 16.5 million , Crouch is worth more like 20 nillion in this day and age…he scores regularly , is an England International who scores so you tell me why he is not worth 15 million – you paid 16 for Owen, even Luke Young was 10 mill…
