Everton vs Newcastle – Match Preview

everton-fc_crest.png nufc-crest.png

It seems to have gone past very quickly, but the end the season is at Everton tomorrow, in a game which has a 3:00 pm kick off.

In fact all games in the Premier league tomorrow have the same KO time of 3:00 pm, so by 5:00 pm we’ll know who the Premier League Champions are, and also who the 3 teams being relegated are.

We have no preference about the relegation teams, although Roy Hodgson will have done a tremendous job if he can keep Fulham up.

We think it would be good for the league if Chelsea somehow managed to win the league, just to spread it around a little bit between the top 3 clubs. A little variety, since the 17 other teams never have a chance of winning the league.

Newcastle will be without the injured Mark Viduka, who rather surprisingly may be out for up to 6 months following his Achilles tendon operation, and Joey Barton cannot play, because of his bail conditions. James Milner is short of match practice, and we also understand he will not play.

Kevin will have the chance to play someone in midfield in place of Joey Barton, and since Emre is off to join Turkey for the 2008 European Championships, we’d like to see N’Zogbia given a shot at that position.

With uncertainty surrounding Charles’ future it could well be his last appearance for the club, whether he starts the game or is used as a substitute, but we expect him to play at some stage tomorrow.

Up front we hope Andy Carroll gets a well deserved start, but we have a sneaking suspicion Kevin will start Alan Smith.

We hope not, in all honesty, but if Alan does start, he needs to start scoring goals, since he still hasn’t scored for Newcastle, although he did score in pre-season. Kevin sees him only as a striker and the striker’s role is to score goals. Sorry to be so pedantic.

The game tomorrow is another complete sell-out, and after Everton lost at Arsenal last weekend, they need a single point to confirm a fifth place finish and a UEFA Cup spot.

This is also another chance for us to record a double, since we beat Everton 3-2 at St. James’ Park last year, when Emre came on after 74 minutes and scored one (after 84 minutes) and and made the winner for Michael Owen (on 90 minutes).

This is the team we hope Kevin put out tomorrow:

Beye Taylor Faye Enrique
Geremi Butt N’Zogbia
Martins Carroll Owen (c)
Subs: Forster Edgar Cacapa Duff Lua Lua

It would also be good if young Kazenga Lua Lua was given a run-out

For Everton Mikel Arteta (stomach), James Vaughan (knee) and Tim Cahill (foot) are all out injured.

Everton: (from)

Howard, Hibbert, Yobo, Jagielka, Lescott, Baines, Valente, Carsley, Neville, Osman, Fernandes, Pienaar, Johnson, Yakubu, Anichebe, Wessels, Rodwell, Gosling.

It would be great to finish the season with a win, but you can be sure Everton will not want to end their season with a defeat, and the possibility that Aston Villa will beat them to 5th place.

We have 43 points so far this season, which equals last season’s total, which was the worst ever in the Premier League.
But Kevin will have the lads going all out for the 3 points, you can bet on that.

Comments welcome.

A win should be the target. But we’ll be lucky if the boys can scrap up with a draw.

SMITH will play and we will lose. No goals in 30 games for NUFC. Last league goal was THREE YEARS AGO. Playing with 10 men if SMITH plays. 3 1 to Everton who have something riding on the game.

think we’ll get beat in all honestly tomorrow but lets hope not.

id like to see youngsters given a chance as we cant move up or down but cant see it happening.

    beye taylor faye jose
    lualua butt duff
    martins carroll

subs: forster kadar tozer geremi smith

no nzogbia cos he will leave in summer so wats the point. cacapa or diatta will leave also imo.

tbh i think smith will play insted of carroll and i think zog and duff will probs play as well as geremi. dnt think thers any chance of the above side but thats wat id like to see.

ed who is this ‘WE’ u speak of when u say we think it wud be good if chelsea won the league, u think its gud for the game for clubs to buy the league? lets see how long roman sticks around if they win nothin for the next couple seasons, hell get bored and then well see exactly what chelsea are made of without the money, ill tell u what theyre made of, plastic fans who only turn up once they get billions to spend, a sh*tty little stadium, and a load of overpaid prima donnas. i hate man u with a vengance but id rather see them win the league any day over chelski, i hate EVERYTHING that chelsea fc stand for

Hope Smith does not score because one goal this season guarantees him a place in the team for the whole of next season. cannot go through another season with SMITH in the team.

I hope to God that Smitth starts, just so that KK can confirm how shit he is! The sooner we get rid of that waster the better!!

And I tell you what, I know theres been talk of Geremi and Butt being really good this season, but by God, is that the best we can hope for!? Geremi has wasted so many balls its beyond belief, and while Butt hasnt been too bad, it really is a sad state of affairs when you have people like Zig and Emre, yet Butt starts!

Dont get me wrong, I reckon the new Le Sulk (Zog) will go, but hes a mile better than Butt.

Here’s hoping Smith, Shola, Butt, Geremi, Roz, Carr, Ramage, Cacapa and Duff go. (I know some have been released already). We would need to get in a top CF, AM, RB, LB, CB and we’re done as the young lads we got in will be good enough to cover where needed.

I’m looking forward to the summer, and I tell you what….5th place would do me just f*&king fine thank you very much!!!

it hurt me most when Ramos says Berbatov will go, on sale, set price
then all team including Chelski,Manyoo all declare interest and want buy..
Its hurt me when we know the fact that Berbatov is Shearer and newcatlse no 1 FAN and we didnt event try!!!!!!!

Berba wont come here because he has loftier ambitions and sees himself as someone who should be winning the league. Thats why he is such a grump becasue the spurs aint never gonna win.

Geordie Nick, I never thought I’d see the day when I would want Chelski to win anything, but I hope they do the double over that odious gum chewing oaf Fergie. Which imbecile proposed him for a knighthood?

I live in London but am TOOON thru and thru , However I see the swaggers and the prawn sandwich brigade at Chelski , and they think they own the league cos they have bought everyone .
However my geordie bloggers these guys are pettrified of going to moscow to watch their own team because they think its not safe there , They will be watching it in their Kings road flats swigging Lauren Perrier and Bolly .
If TOON were there we be fighting russians in the street to get a ticket , SO who do you want to win , personally I don’t want to see a double by either , MANU will not get beat by Wigan so they should win the premier and i suppose alth it pains me I would like Chelski to trounce Fergies boys 5-0 in Moscow , and those prawn eater can think wish I was there …its yer own cockney yellow livered faults man…

Oh re Everton game , couldn’t give a toss its academic I’ll be in the garden with me big hose out , fnnaaa Finbarr Saunders…..

It is Sunday again and another rancid slur from the NOTW. This time the rumour machine says Manky Utd want Owen for 7 million. Get this bloke on a new contract asap. The Sunday Express says he is going to do the dirty on us too.
Sick and tired of this bitter crap from the gutter press. Do Everton over too lads. Up yours NOTW.

Have emailed the NOTW and asked which of their reporters sat in on the KK meeting with Ashley. Also asked for the substantive evidence for their other speculations in their rag today. Odds on me getting an answer? Derby have got more chance of not being relegated. If the Owen speculation does turn out to be based on some facts – then I think 7 million to compensate for disloyalty would be acceptable. OK Owen – lets have an answer from you.

I really want Owen to stay but why would he when KK almost said you won’t play CL again and the chairman wants to cut his wage up to 40%! (If that’s true)

I’m sure around 60-70k, most top half teams with european place, even big 4 would want him and he knows it.

All that Owen has ever said (as far as I can see) is that he wants to play for and sign for the Toon. So untill something to the contrary happens I will take him at his word and not the the fairy tales from the tabloids.

As for todays game I am with Steeley, if Smith starts and has a crap game (probable) then KK can see what sort of player he is. A quick sub for Carroll then we may start to see the future.
