you know after keegan has finsihed as our manager in the future i really think our next manager also has to be a geordie because we trust our own, much more than we do some person who does not understand us geordies…

that is why we have to make sure we have people training to be manager in the future such as alan shearer lee clark adam sandler etc… we need to keep it inside the club i say

But if we spend like others without first looking at our situation, we will fare no way better than FFS except that we have KK in charge.

A club need to be stable in going upwards. It’s the management team to handle all this.

Of course, we as a fan, would like to see our club show ambitions by spending huge amount on top qualities players but which fans do not want their club to do so?

It’s wise to take a step back to leap forward.

totally agree…if we already bid 18 mill for modric i think that gives you a clear indication of our ambition in the transfer market…funds will be available..MA ios a passionate man who wants to win things…hell splash the cash when required..bring in veloso

spendin 20million this season wud be a disgrace, when u think spurs, villa, man city, portsmouth and even scumderland will be probly spendin around the 50mil mark i wud expect, we arent goin to move forward at all spendin 20mil, but its obviously a load of sh*t cos we bid tht on modric, and now 15mil on veloso and u cant tell me tht we are only plannin on buyin a midfielder this summer

Graham> Great analysis. I quite agree with your comments. Mind you I also don’t think that 25m pounds is a shabby kitty t owork with. You can get 3 players that would strengthen us for that money. Maybe not Veloso, but certainly there are quality players out there for 6-12m. If we do sell Zog that’s aobviously a bit more in there as well, meaning we could go in for 1 15-20m player and still add a few others that would strengthen our starting line-up. It’s not all gloom, we just have to act quickly and wisely in the market. When we want a player we have to go all in for him and wrap up the deal before other clubs have the chance to consider it. That way we don’t get a repeat of Modric (and you guys remember how close we were to Rooney right..?)

Add this to the Â£12m or so that we’ll get for Zog (this should be much higher imo but he hasnt played for a while), Â£5m for Emre and threpence for Smith and that gives Keegan around Â£42m or so which isnt too bad

Bailey – is investing Â£250m in a struggling club not risk? I think Ashley must have had a vindaloo in his belly when he wrote those cheques out!

The rest of this is my post on an earlier thread and suggests why a Â£20m transfer kitty isnt too bad….

Lets look at our approx income…..

Prem League & TV – Â£50m
Tickets – Â£26m (inc a few cup games etc)
Merchandise – Â£10m
Sponsorship – Â£5m (nowt left from NR as this was spent on Owen)
Other – Â£5m

Total income this year – Â£96m (rounded up to Â£100m – not much cop at maths)

The last time it was mentioned, the wages at NUFC were approx 72% of turnover – Â£72m. This leaves Â£28m in the bank.

Therefore i dont think that the Â£20m being bandied about at the minute will be far wrong.

Ashley has cleared our debts and will want to run things in a businesslike manor before piling in a load more cash.

I rekon that Â£25m during the summer and possibly another Â£15 – 20m in January is what Keegan will get.

So far Ashley has ploughed in Â£250m of his own cash – or roughly 12.5% of his total worth.

Abramovich has spent around Â£600m – or about 5% of his worth – so Ashley isn’t doing too badly me thinks.

Lets remember – if it wasn’t for Ashley, I doubt whether we would have a club to support looking at the mess we were in with that 72% turnover which isnt too far behind what Leeds were paying – and they were in the champions league!

You should send this article and comment to Mr Ashley then he might appreciate just where KK comes from and why he is so passionate and outspoken. Whilst it has to be appreciated that Ashley is first and foremost a businessman the club will not be up there with the best without some risk and “fire in the belly”
