come on you cant be serious, how can anyone call owen a moneygrabber, shouting for him to leave, before suggesting we sign anelka? probably the biggest mercenary the premier league has ever seen?
he’d play for your local every sunday if the money was right.

I like him, and think he’d be a great signing. That said, unless he’s on a free, and prepared to accept Â£200.00 per week then I can’t see us getting anywhere near him. It pains me to say it but Ashley’s a tightwad and I think we should steel ourselves for another summer of discontent. It’s amazing to think that after last season’s massive 9m net spend, plus the fact that we have some of the highest gate receipts in the prem’, and the fact that we are now debt free…unlike the ‘big four’, that we are having to lower our sights at all. Remember being linked with Batistuta? Rivaldo? Ronaldo? Come back Fat Fred – all is forgiven!

I sometimes wonder if Anelka has to stop and look to see who he is playing for before he goes onto the pitch. He is the ultimate footy mercenary, having said that he is a class player and if we got him he would be a good addition to the squad, even better if we actually kept him for a few seasons.
