News today that 13 Newcastle players who face an extended season because of their international commitments.
Michael Owen – included in England squad for two friendlies
Several of our players will have some heavy schedules, with Emre and David Rozehnal, who spent the second half of last season on loan at Lazio, taking part in Euro 2008 in Austria and Switzerland.
.
Emre of course will be lining up for Turkey and we must watch their games since we haven’t seen Emre play since early February, but he could still be a top player for Kevin Keegan.
Rozehnal will represent the Czech Republic and will have a chance to impress during the tournament and then maybe stay at Lazio, which he would like to.
Our captain Michael Owen is included in the England squad for two summer friendlies against the United States and Trinidad and Tobago.
Our famous four African quartet, who played so well for us after the African Cup of Nations, to get us out of relegation trouble, Geremi, Habib Beye, Faye and Obafemi Martins are preparing for four World Cup qualifiers with Cameroon, Senegal and Nigeria respectively.
Damien Duff will also play for the Republic of Ireland against Serbia in Dublin on May 24.
Tamas Kadar is with the full Hungary squad for two friendly games, and Fabio Zamblera and Olle Soderberg will be involved with youth games for Italy and Sweden respectively.
Andy Carroll will be playing for the England Under-19 team in a tournament in Belarus later this month, and Charles N’Zogbia will again be representing the France Under-21 side.
Count them up, that’s 13 players in total, but it could have been a lot more.
Shay Given, Mark Viduka, James Milner, David Edgar and Tim Krul are currently all recovering from injury.
England Under-21 captain Steven Taylor and James Milner have both been given a welcome rest from the England Under-21 squad by manager Stuart Pearce.
Comments welcome.
