Kids family is from DRC, so thats who he is,regardless where he was born(accident of geography)
Only thing is,it might be tougher to get a place on the DRC team than the Engerland team.

He was born and raised in England so really its a no brainer as far as I can see. Mind you if he has an Irish second cousin I suppose they will be having a look as well.

I hear ya on that one Leo, Scotland do seem to dig into players family roots these days to try an unearth some evidence of them being eligble to play for us – Scotland that is!!

Heronmag, I dont know what kind of Scottish connection Carroll has, but if he ‘had’ chosen Scotland perhaps thats where his family pride lays? He chose Eng anyway hasnt he…enough said! Just hope he cuts it at the top for the toon

Ok, bad example on the Giggs thing. But I still say it’s nowt to do with appearances or how likely you are to get silverware. At national level it’s all about national pride – play for anything else and you’ll be useless anyway.

Think I’ve got to go with Sal. If Kaz classes himself as Enlgish then he should pick England. If he feels a loyalty to the DRC then the Congo.

It’s up to him.

As for Carroll – he’s English, he’s a Geordie. If he did choose Scotland he would regret it the rest of his career coz if he makes the grade for the toon then an England call up would soon beckon.

Let’s face it. What self respecting Englishman would rather wear a Scotland shirt?

Jus to clarify this with giggs, he couldnt have played for england, he was born in wales to welsh parents and both sets of grandparents are welsh aswell, he didn join wales by choice and the only time he played for england were in the england school boys. he didn play for england under 21s and he couldnt have.

Has either the England set up or the Congo enquired about Kazenga playing for their junior teams? England obviously haven’t because that is how they operate. The Congo may not have an international junior XI. As long as he gets into our team and stays I don’t care really. It is NUFC that will bring him along not England or the Congo.
