Newcastle United have received news that Manchester City are willing to listen to offers for their captain Richard Dunne, according to The Northern Echo.

Sven Goran Eriksson’s future at the club is uncertain, to say the least, but it looks like Thailand owner Thaksin Shinawatra is willing to sell any current player at the right price.
Seems strange that he would not wait until a new manager is installed, but there again Shinawatra seems a strange guy, with far too much ego for his own good.
Newcastle could be lining up a bid for the City defender, with a fee around £6M being quoted, but the bad news is that Arsenal have emerged as surprise contenders for Dunne’s signature.
If it’s head to head between Arsenal and ourselves, we’ll probably lose out, all things being equal.
But there again Richard may be persuaded to join his old manager, who he seems to like a lot, and we trust that Kevin will get a chance to discuss his plans with each of our summer transfer targets, including Richard.
But it does seem that the Dunne saga could come to an end fairly soon. Dunne has the chance now of being first through the door this summer – we hope so.
