Newcastle After Young Galatasary Star

7:02 pm, Friday, May 16th, 2008 by Ed Harrison · 128 Comments

Newcastle United have bid for Galatasaray’s star player Arda Turan, the 21 year-old winger.

Arda Turan - Newcastle have already made bid

There are reports in Turkey filtering through to us from our readers there, that Newcastle have offered Galatasaray £16M for 21 year-old Arda Turan, and offered the player annual wages of $2M.

Some translations have been sent to us from one of readers there, Peter, which are taken from the Turkish Newspaper ‘Sabah’.

Apparently Newcastle would like to complete the transfer of the player before Eur 2008 starts, but Galatasary are not keen to sell their star player yet.

Arda Turan, has helped Galatasaray to the top of the league this season, and is said to be receiving lots of offers – many of the proposals have been coming from European clubs.

Arda can play on either wing, and seems to also have a knack for scoring goals, which cannot be bad. :D

We don’t know exactly where Newcastle stands in the bidding, but it does look like we have again been the first with a firm offer.

That was also the case with Luka Modric, but let’s hope we have more luck this time. Middlesbrough may also be keen on the youngster.

Arda said:

“I want to stick with Galatasaray.”

However, Galatasary management would like to wait until after Euro 2008 before any transfer, and are quoted as saying:

“We should at least wait for EURO 2008. The situation can change if Arda’s price doubles.”

“However, we will keep the offer on hand for now.”

It seems that Newcastle would like to have the transfer all completed as soon as possible, not surprisingly, but the Turkish club would probably like to put Ardan in the shop window of Euro 2008, in the hopes that his transfer price goes up.

www.usfa.com describes him as a combative young midfielder with high levels of vision and technique, and exceptional passing ability.

Arda scored his first hat-trick as a Galatasaray player against Sivasspor on May 4th this year.

The youngster has already played for Turkey 16 times and played for Galatasary 64 times and scored 20 goals.

Years Club App Goals

2004–2005 Galatasaray 4 0
2005–2006 Manisaspor (loan) 15 2
2006–present Galatasaray 60 20

2004-2006 Turkey U-19 18 8
2005-2006 Turkey U-21 3 1
2006- Turkey 16 0

Let us know what you think – comments very welcome.

  • 2 Geordie Gerrard7 // May 16, 2008 at 7:05 PM

great goal record for a tricky winger, be over the moon if we get him quickly. wonder if chris mort could clear this up lol

  • 3 CRAIGG // May 16, 2008 at 7:14 PM

Never seen him play so i cannot comment, Although he sounds great if the other comments are anything to go by

  • 4 Taiwantoon // May 16, 2008 at 7:15 PM

Tried to find the video of his on the you tube, seems to be a player with good close control and good body balance. New Ginola? Hope to hear from someone who knows the Turkish league well!

  • 5 Toon1978 // May 16, 2008 at 7:16 PM

They dont want to sell him until EURO 2008 , we need to push a little harder for this one.

  • 6 scottish mag // May 16, 2008 at 7:18 PM

is it not 16m euros, £8m that we have bid 4 him

  • 7 Alex // May 16, 2008 at 7:19 PM

well Emre is still well thought of in Turkey so lets try to use him as a part of the bidding. 10 million plus emre might do the trick.

  • 8 CRAIGG // May 16, 2008 at 7:20 PM

I was going to say Emre could help him settle in at United if this happens,

But Galatasaray will probably want Emre and Money in exchange.

  • 9 CRAIGG // May 16, 2008 at 7:20 PM

Alex you beat me by a minute in saying that!

  • 10 Toon1978 // May 16, 2008 at 7:21 PM

    GET HIM and ARSHIVIN lol

  • 11 emantoon // May 16, 2008 at 7:23 PM

hey..i buy him in game PES for master league.

    he is superb~

    but dunno in reality

  • 12 Nick C // May 16, 2008 at 7:26 PM

Wheres Tom Toon when you need him!

  • 13 Nicke Alvaro // May 16, 2008 at 7:27 PM

He does look very good indeed, but Im going to have to be a bit pessimistic about after the whole Modric saga.
However has anyone else seen the video on Youyube of him sticking the bean on some guy and laughing? Hmmm not sure if he has a temper, that being said if he can make top players look like mugs, i.e. Liverpool lol. Ill be the first to get his name on the back of my shirt.

  • 14 Tom_Toon // May 16, 2008 at 7:29 PM

Here now. Ed, i think its £8 mil from what i read of the article.

  • 15 scottish mag // May 16, 2008 at 7:29 PM

we wanted him in january but galatasaray were not prepared to sell, i think he was valued at £4m then, now £8m(16m euros)

but he is a quality player, snap him up quick wise

  • 16 Mehzeb // May 16, 2008 at 7:33 PM

We shouldn’t wait for his price to escalate to £16m… it was £4m in January, now its £8m, so you know what’s going to happen after Euro 2008.

Snap him up now. He’s quality.

  • 17 Hadrian // May 16, 2008 at 7:36 PM

great stuff , i just hope we plan on keeping these youngsters once the fulfill their potential .

  • 18 joe // May 16, 2008 at 7:38 PM

he is a tremendous player, with a superb goal record. A cheap Cristiano Ronaldo! If he turns out half the player he will be a good signing for anyone!

    Get him in.

  • 19 Nick Dryden // May 16, 2008 at 7:38 PM

Dollars not sterling Ed and sadly doesn’t seem likely. Yet another false dawn probably

Ä°ngilizler’in resmi teklifi de önümüzdeki hafta sarı-kırmızılılara gönderecekleri öne sürüldü.

Sarı-kırmızılı kurmaylar, son olarak “En azından EURO 2008′i bekleyelim. Arda’nın fiyatı katlanırsa durum deÄŸiÅŸebilir. Ancak ÅŸu an için yıldızımızı elimizde tutalım” fikrinde.

Just need someone to translate that now

  • 23 Tom_Toon // May 16, 2008 at 7:41 PM

Really i avent seen much of him, but i saw him aganst liverpool and he was immense. Not the quickest, but clever, skillful, could split the defence and cross.

  • 24 Nick C // May 16, 2008 at 7:42 PM

Thats a midfield worth paying to watch.

  • 28 Danny // May 16, 2008 at 7:44 PM

We cant wait for him to have a good tournament….although that sounds like what galatasaray want to do!! Interest and his price will grow!

We need to push this deal through ASAP!

  • 29 Ryan // May 16, 2008 at 7:45 PM

So, we should grab him asap from others

  • 30 Danny // May 16, 2008 at 7:46 PM

Lets hope this time we are more successful!

  • 31 Dp the geordie // May 16, 2008 at 7:52 PM

hmm. Good prospect this lad. Can play either left or right, but from what i saw of him, he’s predominately right footed like’s to cut in from the left. The only thing I would say is he’s quite short if I remember right and he gets knocked off the ball a bit. However, a great prospect IF he can beef up a bit, and endure the prem. Not sure if anyone else can elaborate..tom_toon??

  • 32 Nicke Alvaro // May 16, 2008 at 7:54 PM

Who would you guys prefer out of Arshavin and Turan? Ideally both but I greatly doubt it. Just who do you think is more likely to join and who would benefit the team more?
I would prefer Arshavin myself but this guy looks tops too.

Evening all, sorry to be the pessimist, but deep down you all know that this is just another pipe dream for us. As soon as deals like this go public, it basically means we have failed to entice yet another quality player. Basically we have nothing to offer these players, ie european football at any level. we all need to stop dreaming about this type of player coming for the next few years. Hope I’m wrong though………Hmmmmmm!!!!!!!!

have you guys noticed that this guy has a better goal per game ratio than oba martins has had at nufc( not saying oba isnt good or anything) but oba has made 64apps scoring 20 goals in league and turan has 20 goals in 60 apps( 1 in 3) and he is a winger. he is quality ronaldo in the making

    http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=mxL8j54U5G0

  • 42 Jeff D // May 16, 2008 at 8:10 PM

If we can get Arda Turan i’d be Very surprised as he’s just done for Galatasaray what ronaldo has done for Man U. He’s a very simular player to Ronaldo in lots of ways…… But hey!! here’s wishing!!!

  • 43 Fernando // May 16, 2008 at 8:11 PM

will be a good signing, an imporvement of what we got.

  • 44 CRAIGG // May 16, 2008 at 8:19 PM

To be honest as i said i dont know this guy so i cant say nowt about him.

The news that ive been most excited about this week is the restructuring at the academy if it comes off, Peter Taylor and Alan Thompson would be terrific role models and teachers for our highly talented youngsters.

  • 45 Nicke Alvaro // May 16, 2008 at 8:22 PM

Id love to be able to sign someone of his skill, after watching that video of Turan vs Ronaldo it just shows me he is a top player indeed, although it also made me think we may struggle to sign someone like that.
Also after hearing we would offer a 2 mil salary, is that something like less than 50k a week? Not that any of us would complain but we all know what football players are like these days.
I think if we really wanted him a wage of Smiths calibre would be much better used than on that useless git.

  • 46 TomPoon // May 16, 2008 at 8:25 PM

sounds good, doubt we will get him.

  • 47 scottish mag // May 16, 2008 at 8:25 PM

nicke remember we are apparently trying to cut the wage bill, cos we have no money lol

  • 48 Nicke Alvaro // May 16, 2008 at 8:30 PM

True, but you know… If Smudge is on a reported 60k I think he deserves shooting and if it was someone so trivial as like a 20k wage either way, Id be totally gutted, and didnt we supposedly offer Modric quite a nice sum?
I dont know Im clutching at straws I guess. Lol

  • 49 daiv // May 16, 2008 at 8:44 PM

Anybody noticed a real improvement in Alan Smith in the last few games?

  • 50 Nicke Alvaro // May 16, 2008 at 8:45 PM

No…. Did I miss something? Maybe a few shots or?… Lol
    Worst signing of the season.

  • 51 Reformed_Mumbler // May 16, 2008 at 8:46 PM

If it’s in a newspaper then it must be true.

    Yawn.

Neither do we have to make a signing right bloody now ffs. Patience and a more critical eye of the persistent stream of folly is required.

  • 52 daiv // May 16, 2008 at 8:49 PM

Neither did I. Just waiting to see if anyone would bite! Sorry for the wind up but it did give me a laugh.

  • 53 ende // May 16, 2008 at 8:55 PM

Able to play both wings alone makes him valuable.

  • 54 daiv // May 16, 2008 at 8:56 PM

There is talk of clubs being interested in SMITH and a substantial transfer fee. Who would want to sign Smith? I am his worst critic but I think we should all big him up to get rid of him for some sort of fee. Any opposition manager thinking of signing him only has to look at this blog to realize that we think hes the worst signing of the decade. We’ll never get rid of him.

  • 55 Nicke Alvaro // May 16, 2008 at 8:59 PM

Can live in hope though cant we Daiv?

  • 56 valle // May 16, 2008 at 9:05 PM

So Bulut class him like Laudrup huh?… Well,i got news for you Bulut, there were 2 Laudrups. But if he is like Michael Laudrup then sign him up ASAP… Since he is more of a winger i guess he means Brian Laudrup, which wouldnt be too bad either.

I just feel that creative central midfielder should be first priority…

  • 57 nightfall // May 16, 2008 at 9:05 PM

get him..and if all the players are up for sale, we should go after dunne, richards (but i bet he’ll join arsenal), chorluka, bojinov,..

  • 58 Tom_Toon // May 16, 2008 at 9:23 PM

KK has a list of 20 players so here are mine (25) (from outside the premiership and who we havent been linked with):

DEF: Wendel (Bordeaux), Bruno Alves (Porto), Asatiani (Lokomotiv Moscow), Torosidis (Olympiakos), Westermann (Schalke), Grimi (AC Milan), David Luiz (Benfica), Escude (Sevilla).

MID: Hilbert (Stuttgart), Dzsudzsak (PSV), Kahlenberg (Auxerre), Eremenko (Saturn), Srna (Shakhtar Donetsk), Afellay (PSV), Zhirkov (CSKA Moscow), Kallstrom (Lyon), Tziolis (Panathinaikos), Rodriguez (PSG), Katsouranis (Benfica), D’Alessandro (Zaragoza), Binya (Benfica).

ST: Pandev (Lazio), Zigic (Valencia), Suarez (Ajax), Elmander (Toulouse).

Obviously there are loads but i managed to get it down to 20.

  • 59 Leo // May 16, 2008 at 9:32 PM

well it would be a sign of intent to revert back to 442 for sure.

  • 60 gallowgate31 // May 16, 2008 at 9:32 PM

never heard of him but judging by the u tube video he looks like a ‘ decent honest version’ of that winking little sh*t Ronaldo,

All these names that are being thrown around are really starting to make me nervous ( haven’t even had the ticket renewal through yet ).

We are gonna have to make at least one big signing real soon, and if we lose out to spuds again ( re Cuellar, latest to be linked ) I really don’t know what my feelings are gonna be towards the new regime. ie denis ‘wobbly eyes’ wise, and whoever else is on a YT sceme with a directors title.

Here is the challenge to MA, show us what your intent is now before you announce that ticket prices are on the up for what has been the poorest season in the epl. ( granted equal worst points tally ) .

I want to see at least 50 mill on first team and a further 10 mill spent on youth, with player sales that might just put us ahead of the mackems spending power.

    OFF TOPIC ….

Nice to see former toon youngster James Coppinger playing in the Coca Cola League One play offs, scoring a great hattrick for Doncaster. He had the comentator purring about his goals! :)

Also Lewis Guy got a run out too as a sub …

With regard to this winger …. seems good on paper but we all know the games played on grass (no lol not the type you toak on)

  • 66 Marat18 // May 16, 2008 at 10:40 PM

    Tom Toon

please remove Asatiani (Loko Moscow) and Eremenko (Saturn) from your list – they are nowhere near EPL quality.

BTW, Paul Mertesacker (spelling?) is still in Werder Bremen. Quality CB, german international and still young I reckon. Worth a try?
we were linked with him a year ago.

As for this turkish bloke – hope he is good and we will sign him – but I would choose Arshavin if I have a choise between these two – he is more proven (not in EPL, but at least on international level).

  • 72 Spyro // May 16, 2008 at 10:58 PM

any decent player that we go for, Spurs are going to go for also, its a case of them using us a second scouting system. They know that we will be aiming high, so they wait until we make a move and then they swoop in and offer their UEFA Cup football. It is going to be like this until they are finished making their signings

  • 73 Spyro // May 16, 2008 at 11:00 PM

Obviously they know that if a player would come to us, then he will go to them also

  • 74 Fernando // May 16, 2008 at 11:01 PM

if that’s the case, then why not we mislead them. we go for someone crap

  • 75 Hamas (51times) // May 16, 2008 at 11:01 PM

  • 77 Spyro // May 16, 2008 at 11:04 PM

Spurs will spend a lot this season. They have already bought around 35million worth of players this year, and if Berbatov goes they will probably spend that amount again in the summer

  • 78 Tom_Toon // May 16, 2008 at 11:13 PM

    No chance in Mertesacker sadly.

wow, this is what i come home to ?? Arda Turan…….brilliant player if you ask me, he’s like Quaresma for me and he’s in the same situation too, he’s transfer is long overdue.

It would be close to a small miracle if we get him, he’s very sought after in Europe, if you ask me a switch with Emre and some cash is our best chance of getting him as Emre is still a legend at Galata…

plspls Newcastle do your best to get him…..

  • 81 Geordie Gerrard7 // May 16, 2008 at 11:44 PM

toon king. how much you seen him play mate, iv only seen him a hanfull of times anf hes been a different gravy

  • 82 Tom_Toon // May 16, 2008 at 11:45 PM

  • 84 Geordie Gerrard7 // May 16, 2008 at 11:49 PM

thats what i thought, i think if emre over comes his injurys he could be class

  • 85 ToonKing // May 16, 2008 at 11:56 PM

i’ve seen him play a fair amount, i like watching Turkish games, especially Galata as they have terrific atmosphere at their home games, i’ve actually seen him play live once too against Besiktas in September 2006.

he’s a different class in that team and he is destined for higher things, problem is he is very devoted to Galata plus the club wants to hold out until they receive an offer they really can’t refuse and the competition for he’s signature is really intense all over Europe.

as i said it would be a small miracle if we get him but i’m keeping the faith, we’ve seen bigger miracles happen haven’t we…..

  • 86 Tom_Toon // May 17, 2008 at 12:02 AM

Darijo Srna should defintely be another player we try for, his transfer is long overdue.

  • 87 Geordie Gerrard7 // May 17, 2008 at 12:04 AM

i have once witnessed the most random game live, 1 fc koln v fennerbache, i was on a football tour in eastern europe and we went to watch a game and we sat in the fenerbache end, was class atmosphere and the mad turns were throwing flares onto a bloody pitch in a friend for god sake. i remember lukas podolski scoring two great free kicks for koln and piere van hoijdonk scoring for fenner, till this day i still want to go watch another turkish game as the fans were smashing

The problem with Turan and other sought after players is there are many teams who would be interested who can offer more than we can. I think the club are trying to bargain and haggle the prices of players we go for, but we are in no position to do so with the likes of Turan, Veloso etc. But if we give them an offer they can’t refuse and pay over the odds we’re seen as still a soft touch so we’ll get extorted on every deal we try to do…right now I think I’d accept the latter.

srna can play right or lrft back cant he?

  • 90 Tom_Toon // May 17, 2008 at 12:18 AM

Hes a right mid who can play rb (plays rb for his club and rm for country). Free kick specialist aswell.

It’s just taken me about half an hour to read all these blogs, with all these stories in the press it looks like we have more leaks than the Kursk
(sorry all you Russian submariner fans)
Would love to see something concrete on the NUFC official site, even if it was the departure lounge……I think if nothing happens in the next couple of weeks there are going to be a lot of pissed off toon fans. When are the season ticket renewals due to hit the nations doormats??
That’s usually a good time to invest in new players…….

Hi Tom Toon, don’t you ever sleep, make the most of your footie now as you will have no time at all when you are married with kids…….
    be warned….

  • 94 Hamabi // May 17, 2008 at 2:26 AM

Looks good but one concern is that he doesn’t seem “tough” enough for the Premiership.

  • 95 domtoon // May 17, 2008 at 2:34 AM

I often think Smith gets a bad press, but it’s mostly down to the fact that despite his hard work rate, he has virtually zero effect in any of the games he’s played for us.

You can imagine my horror when I read this :o|

  • 96 seetow // May 17, 2008 at 3:10 AM

tom toon – i love two of the players on your list.

srna – quality player, can play anywhere along the right flank. great at set pieces too, so byebye geremi.

zigic – i’ve been purring about him all transfer season. we ought to get a big man, and 15m sterling for crouch is just like 20m for fraser forster, no sense in such a deal. zigic is a big forward who isn’t too old and has experience playing at the very highest level. would get him if i were chris mort!

  • 97 Toooooooooooooooooon // May 17, 2008 at 4:46 AM

we always lose good players to clubs which are NOT the top 4. example campbell to pompey, modric to spurs, woodgate to spurs.

  • 98 Hamas (51times) // May 17, 2008 at 4:54 AM

Roeder didn’t go for Campbell, I remember him saying in the paper that he wanted to come up here though.

  • 99 keeganpleasecomeback // May 17, 2008 at 5:35 AM

HE REALLY LOOKS LIKE MICHAEL LAUDRUP…the way he holds the ball up and his dribbles – its like watching a young Michael….Boy would it be a scoop if we got him…….
TOM TOON why is kahlenberg on your list – he cant even get the starting 11 for auxerre?

  • 100 OzZyMagpiE // May 17, 2008 at 6:29 AM

here we go again… we get our hopes up on a class player like turan, we watch youtube vidoes of him, we dream of him playing right wing n zoggy on da left, we wake up ponderin about wut number he wiil choose and then he signs for spurs!

    =p

  • 101 Hamas (51times) // May 17, 2008 at 6:34 AM

I think a lot of people have learned after the Modric incident to just take transfer speculation with a pinch of salt.

  • 104 Arshavin4Toon // May 17, 2008 at 8:42 AM

he does look a future star – 15m euro Emre will be a good deal. let’s dream about that
but Turkish talents never quite make it in other leagues. Sukur was the God playing striker for Galat. when Emre moved to Inter he seemed like taking on the whole Serie A. Basturk, Nihat, Altintop are decent players but hardly superstars of their resp. leagues
so even if 15m does it i’d rather have Arshavin, more proven, mature and experienced enough to strengthen our squad immediately, and cheaper as well

  • 107 Tommy // May 17, 2008 at 9:22 AM

16 million euros is roughly 12 million quid..

Never heard of him, but from everything I’ve read, he sounds good..

  • 108 Ian-Djibril Cisse in for us // May 17, 2008 at 9:26 AM

I like the idea of buying a player with an excellent scoring record, let us face it, if his goals dropped to just 4 per season that is higher then we currently have except for Butt.

That is why I was so annoyed we didnt offer Sibieski a two year contract he guaranteed goals and if he had been moved back in to his normal midfield position it was clear he would still bring in a few goals for us.

No matter how good the player if they dont contribute with goals we will never reach the higher levels of the premiership.

I go back to my usual statement with Djibril Cisse if we buy him, we buy goals, he has always scored, we could do with reducing the chances of failure.

  • 109 robertsa // May 17, 2008 at 9:46 AM

i like the look of this kid like. chuck away emre and 6million at them and they will accept that no bother. Must say like our talent scouts are brilliant nwhat with kadar zamblera and now this guy. you can’t DIS wise that much like.

  • 110 dylan2k8 // May 17, 2008 at 10:09 AM

what about sultan cem 18 (i think) and has scored 77 goals in 33 games for there youth team he has potential

  • 111 Toonboy // May 17, 2008 at 10:59 AM

Snap him up quick, but will this mean the end of Zog ??

  • 112 Andy1 // May 17, 2008 at 12:44 PM

Turan looks like a right footed left winger so I am pretty sure he could play well on the right. I really want Zog to stay – I think he’s one of the most exciting players in the league and can only get better. Turan on one wing and Zog on the other would be immense.

  • 113 Geordie Gerrard7 // May 17, 2008 at 1:04 PM

does anyone know of any more news?

  • 114 Ian // May 17, 2008 at 1:33 PM

Geordie Gerrard 7 only new news I know is that Djibril Cisse has confirmed he is looking to move to the premiership as he isnt happy with the way the fans were with him at the start of the season when he was a little off form (booed him etc) even though he has scored 14 goals and they are now raving about him he doesnt know if he can forget it, his manager says he unfortunatly will have to let him go if the transfer price is met (he doesnt want to sell him) but we arent mentioned only West Ham and Manchester City.

  • 115 Geordie Gerrard7 // May 17, 2008 at 1:38 PM

to be honest ian, i cannot stand cisse, i would prefer us to pay the 14 mill for gomis, but its all about opinions. he had sooo much promise at auxerre, left to go to liverpool and wasted all his talent. why are the marseille fans hating him?

  • 116 Bob // May 17, 2008 at 2:39 PM

It’s worth noting that Galatasaray are in financial trouble and therefore a large offer would most likely be accepted.

  • 117 Ian // May 17, 2008 at 3:10 PM

geordie gerrard they did at the start of the season now they are raving about him and they want him to stay, so does the manager but he isnt happy as his scoring record is excellent he just had a poor start and they all got on his back. He says in contrast if he is in Liverpool they treat him as if he is still one of their top players.
He is just £8m according to new reports.
His personality is the problem, however that allows teams like Newcastle to have a go at getting him otherwise we wouldnt get a chance, his scoring is excellent especially when he hasnt been first choice striker most of his career, yet he beats most of the big names in the premiership, he would be around fourth in the premiership player table with this years goals but often he scores more than that. If West Ham get him or Spurs everyone will see his quality, I have watched him most of his career, he has always been in top teams where it is hard to get a place, in a club like ours his true ability will be shown, especially with Keegan as he is perfect for that style of play.
I think Keegan could easily handle his personality at our club, he would link up well with Martins and owen if he is still here, remember he has scored the same number of goals as Owen, not been first choice and had a bad season!!
He has won silverware almost every year he has played and he has scored key goals to get those wins, he is now 27-28 and has lost none of his speed, he doesnt suffer from injuries like Owen or Viduka.

  • 118 Ian // May 17, 2008 at 3:30 PM

New news Newcastle are supposed to have offered £9m for Gomis. They want £12m.

  • 119 Geordie Gerrard7 // May 17, 2008 at 3:46 PM

    ian- source?

  • 120 Nicke Alvaro // May 17, 2008 at 4:08 PM

If they want 12m, and if Gomis is as good as people think he is. We had better pay them 12m. I mean jeez if he can win a few million on a roulette wheel then Im sure he could consider that expendable, ooooo if I was a billionaire and in charge of our club!

    Cardiff for the cup!

  • 121 Ian // May 17, 2008 at 4:11 PM

    Sorry Mirror.co.uk – gormis transfer

He is a good player, I agree and has had two good seasons, he may well be the next best striker in the premiership, but there again…

However it still would be Cisse for me, he is a proven goalscorer year in and year out for 6 years and he is cheaper it could be Cisse and a defender for the same money.

  • 122 KADIR // May 18, 2008 at 12:21 AM

iám turkish.. and ofcourse.. i know the turkish leauge well!!

    let me tell you this..
arda is the best turkish player in turkey at the moment…
he is considered to be a very valuable player for galatasaray.
(they are playing the champions leauge next year and will need arda turan very well)
so they don;t really want to sell him.. but ?? if someone come’s with a good offer why not !!

newcastle is not the only one following this player in europe.. but they are the first with an offer?? if you ask me.. contract this player..

  • 123 chuck // May 18, 2008 at 12:42 AM

Having read most of the above, I am even more convinced, that any name linked with the Toon will result in a chorus of BUY HIM NOW`S!
(before Spurs get him)it`s called panicking.
But gotta hand it to you guys, you know your sh**, anything about anybody who ever kicked a ball in his life, you got the stats on him. From Argentina to Uzbeckistan, you guys got it covered, take my hat off to you.
Hope Ashleys checking out this site, could get rid of his scouting staff and get whatever info he needs right here, help with the wage bill like.
Soh! keep up the good work guys, and for ch***t
sake lets hope we make a major signing soon.
    Be happy to get Veloso.

  • 126 Baran // May 19, 2008 at 3:39 AM

Im a bigtime Galatasaray fan and have watched a lot of Arda’s games and i know hes a very talented player. He has scored some big goals for Galatasaray and im not too sure he will want to leave, but if Newcastle do get him he will definitely impress. Hes got a huge career in front of him no matter where he ends up.

  • 128 turkish footy // May 22, 2008 at 12:50 PM

arda wont come to newcastle not this year anyway and he probably would prefer another team ,the reason is because of wats happen to emre, everyone knows how emre is one of the best players in newcastle, but does he get to play NO,excactly
