Remember When Diane Would Love To Play At Toon?

PSG striker Amara Diane has talked down the chances of a move to Newcastle United.

Amara Diane – denies quotes were made

L’Equipe is reporting that Diane has denied quotes attributed to him this week.

Diane had been reported as saying he was excited about the prospect of joining Newcastle United in the summer, and of course we were only too willing to report that news, whether he was any good or not.

The 25-year-old forward had seemingly said to Sky Sports last week:

“Kevin Keegan is a dream coach, his team always plays offensive football and playing in England would be a great opportunity,”

“I know there is some contact between the two clubs and if an agreement is reached, I will go to Newcastle.”

“To play with Michael Owen would be great and there is also Obafemi Martins who is a top striker.”

“The Premier League is attractive and some of my Ivorian friends are there so I would be in good company.”

Well, it turns out the quotes were made up by somebody, and were not actually said by the player. So how come Sky Sports was involved, since they are usually a solid reporting outfit?

What a shame – it’s always nice to hear a player singing the praises of our club.

Oh well, another false report – unfortunately.

I would hardly class Sky Sports as a solid reporting outfit!

I’m afraid we are going to get loads of unsubstantiated rumours in the coming weeks. Best just to ignore them all until something concrete happens – problem with that ed is that you wouldn’t have anything to write about.

All true…but, as I said when this first came up, if you research him there is always a fair bit of self perpetuated rumours and interest that eminate from this guys camp when it comes to him being transfered. Will more than likely be his agent.

As much as the press are scum they will very very rarely print a quote that is made up. Has to be from source. Stories they will make up from nothing as they can be argued to be conjecture. Quotes are ‘supposed fact’ and will be confirmed from a source. So either you’ve seen the mother of all slackness gone on or this will have been 95% said by him or his agent.

its actually getting anoying because people are trying to make our club look a mockery, making up quotes, maybe it was ramos trying to see if we were actually interested in him. the bstrd

I wouldn’t mind betting that similar cr*p is going down at all of the top clubs with any player anywhere looking for a move is being linked to them. I don’t think there is need for us to be paranoid. As Chris has said when we sign someone we will be told.

Meanwhile I hear we have been linked to this wunderkid who is playing for a tribal team in the upper Amazon who has 3 legs.

Hope we get this guy soon. I don’t think we are any closer to signing him though because the report has the same info we got a couple of days ago. But now they are saying the fee is around 11M where as before it was said to be 8M.

Just waiting for Spurs to hijack this one aswell.

Just watched TURAN on you tube and his ball control is world class from what i saw, but a distinct lack of goals was shown which is a little worrying, and apart from that why arent the top 4 interested in signing him,

Toon1978 Santa Cruz wasn’t on the top four radar….would have been happy with him though at the price Blackburn got him at. If we go for players the top 4 want we are not likely to get them we need to unearth some treasure.

Well at least ArdaTuran looks a bit more robust and tenacious than that Moroccan midget Boussoufa we were linked with the week before.
But in any case, hang onto Milner and Zog and we are doing fine for wingers. Both are improving with Godsmark and LuaLua in reserve and (hopefully) a fully fit Duffer.

Get real Ed, ALL the media outlets regularly fabricate football stories at this time of year (and the rest of the time), otherwise they’d have to lay-off half their sportswriters; the season has finished, you see. My favourite is when some scumbag journalist pens a story that they dreamed up in the pub one evening, thier paper prints it, runs with it for a few days, and then gets a week of genuine stories about the fallout from the original made-up story. I’m sure the process must be included in the paper’s business plan somewhere. You’d look less of a tit if you didn’t simply keep repeating their garbage.

This is all getting quite exciting. I really want us to get Turan, Gomis, Arshavin, a CB (probably Dunne) and a LB (probably Shorey or Riise).

If we get those players or ones of similar quality i believe we could have a squad capable of challenging for a UEFA spot next year and could well be on our way to 5th place. As long as we don’t lose any of our own quality players.

Sky sports is owned by fox network and they are the biggest bunch of bullshits in the world. They really dont actually care if what they report is true. All they broadcast is lies……..so theres no point in believing anything that comes from them……..about anything , let alone sport !

From the French league I would like, Gomis, Wendell, Cris, Bakary Kone and Feinduono. I was never very excited over Diane.

And yes all of the above Kudos and more to Ed, even the grammatical errors are interesting 😉

The NUFC has changed and it is harder to access to some of the interesting bits and you can’t really blog it.

Whoa there “Proud to be Black & White formaly (sic) know as John” – that high horse of yours might just throw you off – and talking of off you’d do better to save the ‘f’ offing for some other boards. I happen to find this board very interesting as it happens but Ed’s less than critical acceptance of all the tripe that appears about us in the media risks getting a lot of people a little bit over-excited. The messages coming out of St. James’ Park this summer already are ‘don’t get too excited’ – you don’t have to be a genius to realise that. Since you’re so fond of debate then please allow me to offer a contrary view – after all it makes the debate more interesting.

I dont think we were ever officially in for veloso.Talksport are reporting that the spuds have outbid us for arda.. I will be seriously annoyed if they beaty us to another player.v Where were the spuds when we bought alan smith. They could have saved us a fortune by scuppering that deal.
