Newcastle Want Both Emre and Turan on Tyneside

There have been multiple reports that our Turkish International Emre is unsettled on Tyneside.

emre-5757.jpg

Emre – can help Turan settle if Newcastle successful in bid

But Kevin Keegan is adamant that is not the case, and he spoke to the Newcastle Journal this morning about Emre:

“I keep saying that he’s not unsettled,” “A lot of people say he has been, but I don’t see an unsettled player here.”

“I see a player who is obviously very keen to play in the Euro 2008, which he will for Turkey.”

“It will be good for Emre to get games.”

There are rumors that Emre may have to be included in the package to get 21 year-old Galatasary star Arda Turan to Tyneside, but Newcastle would prefer to keep Emre at the club.

arda-turan.jpg

Emre will be able to help the youngster settle on Tyneside.

Reports today suggest Galatasaray hope to raise at least £11M from Arda’s sale, and Newcastle have apparently bid £8M at this stage, but may raise that fee if it means securing the transfer of the player. Initial reports of £16M seem way off the mark.

But right now is a worrying time because other bigger clubs may move in, so it’s important Newcastle strike a deal quickly.

The Turkish club have huge debts that are estimated to be around £45M, and so they have some incentive to do a cash deal up front for one of their stars.

It would be a good deal for Newcastle if they can get the job done, but the longer it goes on, the less chance we will have, since it’s now out there that we want him.

It will also make the Turkey games in Euro 2008, even more interesting to watch if we secure Turan.

Wonder where Tottenham are?    😀

i for one don’t mind if Emre leaves. he is our most creative CM but if we replace him with someone who has more work rate and stamina whilst equally creative then our team will be much stronger.

i dont really care either way, however he hasnt really cut it and he has had enough time and i can imagine his wages being quite high too – would rather try and pull ramsey in – be more exciting seeing him come on rather than emre in my opinion.

Also read that this transfer will push duff out and Blackburn are interested and Pompy. I would try and broker a deal to give Duff plus 10 for Bentley.

Ed this is worrying times to be frank . Arda is worth more than 11 mn and if we really crib to pay that extra 3mn and lose him to another club . its a SHAME !

toonaholic – almost a disgrace, we need to get one name in to make a statement too, then it will attract others in seeing that we are going places and hopefully get rid of the press

I’m swiss, so I usually don’t rate turkish players that high…unfortunately I was sometimes right in saying, that they have fantastic skills but also have a bad character on the field 🙁

Well, but if EMRE and other turkish players can start to control themselves (I really hope so!) I think it would be a good signing…but I rate ARSHAVIN much much higher

metzelder would definitely be worth a try, but I don’t think we can attract these players at the moment…

What worries me most is that there are so many names arround, that we might miss all of our realistic targets and that are in my opinion DUNNE,SHOREY,GOMIS.

After that we can discuss a “dream” signing like ARSHAVIN, or other’s

AGREE TOONOHOLIC, IF WE LOOSE OUT ON THIS PLAYER THRO NIT PICKING OVER A MEASLEY 3MIL THEN ITS PATHETIC, WHY DO WE ALWAYS HAVE TO TRY ND LOWER THE TRANSFER FEE INSTD OF JUST PAYING IT, THEN WE ALWAYS END UP LOOSING OUT!!!! WE NEED TO LOOSEN THE PURSE STRINGS MR ASHLEY!!!!

Turn and Zarate – that’s more like it!!
It’s a shame our cover get’s blown on these deals a la Modric. It’s as if teams just use us to smoke out better deals elsewhere.
Having said that, could you imagine the difference between a team containing Zarate, Turan and Veloso to that of Smith, Duff and Barton. Bentley would be lovely too, but we the fans have been wound up so much you wouldn’t exactly put your mortgage on any of these coming off, but we are at a real crossroads now and need something to happen .

We won’t sign that Turan guy, I guarentee we wait too long or try and haggle for a cheaper price and another club like Spuds come steaming in and offer the asking price.
I am a bit disillusioned at the moment with our recent activity in the transfer market (or lack of it), I don’t expect to be signing players left right and centre but the MODRIC carry on was a f***kin joke, how many more times will it happen this summer????

This deal is becoming very similar to the Modric one. We haven’t seemed to have learnt our lesson that if we don’t strike a deal quickly other clubs will come into the mix offering more money. Lets hope the deal is further along than we think and we are negotiating a contract with Turan rather than still negotiating a fee.

geordie nick, if we did that we would suffer huge losses on players such as chelsea. i agree an extra 3 mill would be nowt to big mike, but if we went head first in there with 11 mill they would have asked for 14. see what i mean?

The figures are all different denominations imo, as:

    £8mil = 11mil euros=$16mil

And what’s with all this ‘why do we try to lower’ rubbish? We offered a higher transfer fee and higher wages for Modric. He chose Spurs cos of Ramos.

In fact name me one player we’ve missed out on ever by trying to pay too little?

if we keep on losing out on our transfer targets I would have to question what Messrs Wise, Jimenez and Vitere are doing to justify their wage. It might be an idea that we play our cards close to our chest. Who ever is leaking our targets to the gutter press is also alerting other clubs to our intentions. Modric was in the bag according to alan oliver. The rest is history

geordie gerrard agreed, we went with 8 and then they said 11. so why not close the deal at 11 now ? already the first move has been made smartly , now they just need to tie up the deal . And speaking of 11 mn = 2 alan smiths .
i think i wld take a risk of young energetic kid like turan than have 2 alan smiths in the team !

geordie gerrard – if barca were going for him i reckon, just reckon we didnt have a chance!!

Re: Nick Dryden – that midfield is a dream especially if you could add bentley to that.

plus Gomis, the standard 5 real youths that we will sign, like last summer and Jan.

re:scottish Mag – think metzelder would be class, i think that we would have a chance there too – he hasnt really played this year, but he might be the long term replacement for cannavaro though.

It’s been well documented that Spurs had the deal done and it was us that we’re coming in late.

I do think we should have had more of a contribution from Emre by now. But, like others we have had, he seems to prefer the comforts of the treatment room. Turan would be a good talented addition as well. But two Turks when only one can start a fight in an empty room? Don’t worry – a Spurs scout is lurking behind the shitehouse door somewhere.
All we do now it seems is alert other clubs to players who they then go and get. We are a sort of agency ourselves and Oliver is the manager.

if emre went to gala ,i dont think we would get turan. It would be so much easier to give them the 11m they want and we keep emre .Emre would help the young lad settle in,having knowing each other from the turkey set up.Providing emre could stay fit ,how much better would our midfield be with those 2 playing.turkish delight !!!lol

I am an Arsenal fan but have many friends that support Newcastle and i would say that i follow Newcastle. At the moment you must be finding it hard to attract the types of players that KK would love because of the lack of Euro footy. However reading some of these comments a few seem to be off the mark. You do need to strike quickly to be able to secure the players you want but they wont necessarily go somewhere else for more money. Modric actually took a contract offering him less money at shite hart lane but can offer him euro footy. KK will get in the players that he wants i am sure of that but don’t be surprised if they are not massive names. I am sure that you will qualify for the UEFA cup next season so it will be this time next season that i think that a few ‘Big name’ players will see Newcastle as an attractive option as i believe it should be.

if we dont nail this dealin the next few days lads forget it. the longer it goes on the thinner its looking to be honest. i dont think we wil lget him anyway with our epxert negotiating team of mortisha, wise etc. bunch of cocks. we should send o ver keegan owen and shearer, that would be enough, chuck in emre too, he would sell it too i should think. it would be a good mid field, turan, zogs, barton and swp. that has some serios attacking flair, with owen/martins and crouch up front. we done need dunne at the back though, he is so much better than what we are giving him credit for!!
three days i should think, otherwise its sianara argain to another awasome talent.

I’ll be pretty disgusted if we lose out on this guy because we spend too long haggling the price.

Maybe we haven’t ‘definitely’ lost out on a player over transfer fee/wages yet, but dallying over such details gives every other club interested the chance to make their move, which is where we lose out – e.g., Zarate went to Brum because they got there first, and he agreed he’d go to them.

We might have had Modric had the deal gone through quickly and quietly!

We have nothing to offer compared to clubs like Spurs and Everton so if the board really think we’re in with a shout of signing players like Arda and Modric they can’t afford to be tight-arsed about it!
