There have been multiple reports that our Turkish International Emre is unsettled on Tyneside.
Emre – can help Turan settle if Newcastle successful in bid
But Kevin Keegan is adamant that is not the case, and he spoke to the Newcastle Journal this morning about Emre:
“I keep saying that he’s not unsettled,†“A lot of people say he has been, but I don’t see an unsettled player here.”
“I see a player who is obviously very keen to play in the Euro 2008, which he will for Turkey.â€
“It will be good for Emre to get games.â€
There are rumors that Emre may have to be included in the package to get 21 year-old Galatasary star Arda Turan to Tyneside, but Newcastle would prefer to keep Emre at the club.
Emre will be able to help the youngster settle on Tyneside.
Reports today suggest Galatasaray hope to raise at least £11M from Arda’s sale, and Newcastle have apparently bid £8M at this stage, but may raise that fee if it means securing the transfer of the player. Initial reports of £16M seem way off the mark.
But right now is a worrying time because other bigger clubs may move in, so it’s important Newcastle strike a deal quickly.
The Turkish club have huge debts that are estimated to be around £45M, and so they have some incentive to do a cash deal up front for one of their stars.
It would be a good deal for Newcastle if they can get the job done, but the longer it goes on, the less chance we will have, since it’s now out there that we want him.
It will also make the Turkey games in Euro 2008, even more interesting to watch if we secure Turan.
Wonder where Tottenham are?   😀

Comment #42“Yet again United are being linked with all sorts of players, the latest being Galatasaray’s midfielder Arda Turan.
But the Keegan camp insist they have no interest in the Turkish international.”
Just got that off http://www.chroniclelive.co.uk , couple of good articles just released there.

Comment #43Id rather see us sell him and bring in Kitson from Reading who scores and remains fit, look for the likes of Turan to play alongside him, take a gamble on another potential young superstar midfielder, sell Smith and Ameobi and bring in a proven Striker, two if someone leaves.
We need players who definately score goals while others settle in or are out due to injury.
