Sir Bobby Robson Foundation – Friendly Match Petition

We’ve seen on TalkoftheTyne that Bobby Robson has started a petition for Newcastle to play Ipswich Town in a pre-season friendly every year, with the proceeds going to The Bobby Robson Foundation.

We’d like to follow TalkoftheTyne’s example and support Bobby in every way we can in his great new endeavor.

Please show your support and sign the petition .

Here’s the statement from the great Sir Bobby Robson on the status and great success of the foundation:

It is exactly 7 weeks to the day on Tuesday 13th May that we launched the Sir Bobby Robson Foundation and I am delighted to announce that we have raised a grand total of £526,310 which I am sure you will agree is an amazing achievement in such a short period of time, however, we still want the donations to continue as we will be announcing new projects over the coming weeks.

I would like to thank everyone who has contributed in any way – with donations and also the hard work that has gone on behind the scenes. I couldn’t have done this on my own. The generosity of the general public has been absolutely fantastic and I have to say that I am absolutely honored and proud to have been involved in this project. I think everyone knows by now how I feel about “teamwork” …. and it just goes to prove that great things can be achieved if we all work together.

Thanks to you, The Sir Bobby Robson Cancer Trials Research Center at the Freeman Hospital will be up and running on schedule and the people of the North East will be the very first to benefit from this state of the art facility.

I know a lot of people out there are planning fund raising events over the coming months and I just want to let you know how thrilled I am about that and to say that every penny you raise will help cancer sufferers in the North East…. so please KEEP DONATING !!

Best wishes.

Sir Bobby Robson CBE

A great idea. A brilliant cause, organised by a brilliant bloke – who’s also a geordie boy through and through.

Sir Bob wants a few quid and some signatures?

He could be collecting for Al Qaeda and I would help!

It’s not Sir Bobby who has started this! It is some of the lads from they came up with the idea to get an annual pre season game between Ipswich and Newcastle going all proceeds going to his charity.
