Nicky Shorey Available - Will Newcastle Bid?

May 21st, 2008 · 200 Comments

Reading are now willing to listen to offers for Nicky Shorey, their England left full back

nicky-shorey-23.jpg

Nicky Shorey is now officially available

Shorey has been with the Reading club for seven seasons now, and has been linked with moves to West Ham United, Aston Villa and Newcastle United.

Nigel Howe, the club’s chief executive, said they need to cut the wage bill:

“Nicky Shorey and a few others will be looked at as potential people to leave,”

“Nicky has made it clear for a long time that he hasn’t been too happy at the club. Well, let’s hope that somebody comes in with a good offer.”

Steve Coppell, the manager, is thought to have already accepted a £500K pay-cut to remain at the club.

Boy, it must be nice to be getting so much money that you can take a half million pound cut in wages. :D

Howe continued:

“We have said to Steve that, if he trades well, it should release enough funds to go forward,”

“But he won’t have money unless he sells. At the moment we are just trying to balance the budget.”

“The concern is to keep as many of the core squad together. But Steve does want to reduce the squad so he is expecting to receive offers for players.”

“If Steve wants to keep all the players on the same salaries, there won’t be the release of funds. If he reduces the wage bill, he will have funds.”

“Even though we get the £11m parachute we have still got very highly paid players - even with the reduction in wages - so we will have to budget for a small loss.”

“Salaries have to be at the middle range and some in the upper range for the Championship.”

There was news last week that Newcastle may bid £2.5M for Shorey, but we think a higher bid will be needed to capture the player.

He would be a good buy for Newcastle, since he’s a proven Premier League player, and would do well at our club.

Comments very welcome.

well, if we do bid, expect the Spuds to put one in right after us…

  • 2 Tom_Toon // May 21, 2008 at 16:54

Wouldnt go higher than 3 mil for back-up

  • 3 JJ // May 21, 2008 at 16:54

Bid 3Mil max, he is ok but not fantastic and we do need cover at left back. Would get Enrique working a bit harder in training.

  • 4 JJ // May 21, 2008 at 16:55

Hey Tom, great minds think alike…

  • 5 Az // May 21, 2008 at 16:55

He is worth about £6m IMO
we should make a bid before spurs!!!

  • 6 Tom_Toon // May 21, 2008 at 16:56

    Aye :)

  • 7 leavy // May 21, 2008 at 16:59

why does everyone thing that enriques so amazing
shorey attacks and defends better than him
so i think you will find enrique will be back up for shorey

  • 8 Geordie Gerrard7 // May 21, 2008 at 17:03

everyone should shut up about the spurs thing its getting boring

  • 9 Micky Toon // May 21, 2008 at 17:05

Leavy, I agree. I’ve seen nothing from Enrique to say he should start in the 1st team. Probably becuase he’s foreign people instantly think he’s better. It seems to be a running theme on this blog, foreigners are better than home grown players. Shorey would be a good buy. People on here talk about signing promising young players, who by the way haven’t proven themselves in the PL, from foreign teams, yet over look people like Shorey.

  • 10 scottish mag // May 21, 2008 at 17:08

get him for £3m at the most, good player, good left foot, at least we will have decent delivery from set pieces

  • 11 Steven1979 // May 21, 2008 at 17:12

micky toon: just think about C. Ronaldo, Nani, Hleb, Santa Cruz, Berbatov, Tevez, Mascherano, Torres, Toure,…and 100s more..

  • 12 Graham // May 21, 2008 at 17:13

Off subject a bit - and hopefully something we will never have to contend with…. But getting relegated with all the high paid players on your books could well bankrupt some clubs. Shouldn’t the payments the clubs receive for actually being in the prem league be equal? Even if you finish 1st or last?

  • 13 Hamas (51times) // May 21, 2008 at 17:14

Micky Toon - They are, English players are sh*te.

  • 14 Tom // May 21, 2008 at 17:14

yea go for him. i know a lot of ppl hav been getting a bit frustrated aboout the transfers (or lack of them) so far, (see remy post), ive got a good feeling that the club might just pull something out the bag in the next couple of days to make everyone sit up again. Just think, we’ve got 3 people there who have been working since january on identifiying targets and maybe even negotiating some - i wouldnt be surprised if we’ve already tied some deals up. The clubs been very quiet recently, but i think soon we’ll see a press conference where not one, but hopefully a couple of players are unveiled. Howay the lads!

oh, and does anyone know of any pre season friendlys yet?

  • 15 Graham // May 21, 2008 at 17:15

Steven1979 - lets not forget Marcellino, Basedas and Andreas Anderson in there too!

  • 16 Tom // May 21, 2008 at 17:16

oh and btw hamas how the hell are english players sh*te??? the england TEAM is but most of the players in that team could fit into any team in the world.

  • 17 Graham // May 21, 2008 at 17:16

Tom - Were playing Rangers (with or without Cuellar) and some Jonny foreigner side whos name escapes me at the minute!

  • 18 Tom_Toon // May 21, 2008 at 17:17

On average english player are shite. Yes you have got the elite like Terry, Owen, Gerrard etc. But on average they arent anywhere as near as good as average players in other nations.

    Graham - Valencia

  • 19 leavy // May 21, 2008 at 17:17

hamas and others who constantly criticise english players teams etc f$ck off
many players in the lower leagues will not be given a chance because there english
but foreigners are expected too be better also steven hleb ronaldo etc
how many of them play for teams worse than us none

  • 20 toonoholic // May 21, 2008 at 17:20

not more than 3 mn and 30 k a week.
Serves him right for sticking with reading last season :P

  • 21 Hamas (51times) // May 21, 2008 at 17:21

Foriegn players on average have better passing, better ball control and superior football intelligence. I will be laughing myself silly when England fail to qualify for the World Cup.

  • 22 leavy // May 21, 2008 at 17:22

    hamas where are u from??

  • 23 Spyro // May 21, 2008 at 17:23

    3million

  • 24 Obafan // May 21, 2008 at 17:24

GeordieGerrard - Indeed the Spurs saga is getting very irritating.

  • 25 A geordiedoonsooth // May 21, 2008 at 17:27

I don’t think Shorey is the answer he is very good going forward and has a sweet left foot. However he is not the quickest of players and can get done by a winger with pace. If he cost £3m then he may be okay but any more than that would be to much. Don’t forget Coppel dropped him for the Arsenal game becasue of their quick players

  • 26 Geordie Gerrard7 // May 21, 2008 at 17:35

irritating yes, look they have signed one player that didnt snub us for them it was that it was basically a done deal before kk entred the race to sign him. we lost out on modric as he met ramos, and we didnt show as much passion to sign him than spurs did. fair play to them even though i hate them, my best mate supports them thats why.

they are owned by a bunch of money grabbing jews, who will run and leave the club without a paddle when things start to go tits up.

We have an all english continguent, An owner who is a die-hard fan. A god as manager. An unbelievable captain, best goal scorer in the world.

we are being run as a proper club for once and we are enquiring about signing the best young talent in the world. eg: Turan, Veloso, Modric just to name a few.

just to sum things up here lads, stop banging on about mike ashley being tite, he cleaned us of debt. we dont owe a buck to anyone, and we have money to spend i can say that without a shaddow of a doubt.

Even though i have been getting frustrated with lack of concrete news on deals, its because there is sooo much excitement being built up around this club again, and its just great to be a supporter. KEEP THE FAITH!!

  • 27 Obafan // May 21, 2008 at 17:39

We should defo go after him. He could give KK 2 options:
    1. if he wants to play a defensive side then he can choose for Enrique as LB; cause José IMO is the better defender of the 2.
    2. If he wants to play an attacking side then he can choose for Shorey as LB; cause Nicky is the better in going upfront and giving good passes and crosses.

  • 28 Hamas (51times) // May 21, 2008 at 17:43

leavy - I am from Newcastle.

  • 29 JP from The Rock of Gibraltar // May 21, 2008 at 17:43

Graham- Sorry to say but English players aren’t as technically gifted as foreigners. If you want players that perform tricks or could if they wanted to you can’t go for English players because the majority don’t know how. Some are gifted like for example Joe Cole but really foreigners are better equipped in that department. English players are strong and powerful and if you can mix that with great foreign talent then you have the makings of an exciting team in your hands. I think the blame must go to the English coaches and the England set-up. England needs foreign coaches to improve the technical ability of British youngsters or else it will never change.

  • 30 Steven1979 // May 21, 2008 at 17:48

this kind of players are good for bench.. may be for injuries..but we cant play whole season with this kind of guys if we want to play for title or CL or Uefa..I dont see any diffrence about to finish as 17th or 12th or 9th..
I think this club deserves to play for title..and for this we need a good youth academy that brings smt. and shining Stars..Ambitious young players we need..Players like Turan and Gomez..
I dont want to watch this guys against us to play for arse or spurs or chelsea..i want to see them in black n’ white(of course not like joey) in St. James..

  • 31 ronaldeano // May 21, 2008 at 17:53

Hamas, i too am from Newcastle and i would also laugh my tits off if England failed to qualify for the world cup. I say this because ALL my respect for England went up in smoke when i witnessed Owen get that terible injury in the last world cup. England dont qualify= Owen stays fit.

  • 32 Hamas (51times) // May 21, 2008 at 17:56

Historically Newcastle is not a hotbed of England support anyway. My national team plays in black & white…

  • 33 Andy1 // May 21, 2008 at 17:57

At a reaasonable price, Shorey will be an excellent signing to provide competition for left back. He is a consistent player and always delivers quality into the box.

  • 34 Tom_Toon // May 21, 2008 at 17:58

    Hamas, Germany?

    Oh great, another over-rated player.

  • 39 Steven1979 // May 21, 2008 at 18:23

yesterday..we talked about TURAN, Mario Gomez and Vesolo..it was nice to dream about this kind of players..
today back to our f. reality..Shorey(relegated?),Loic Remy (even smith is better than him) ,Cuellar(avarage and too expensive)..
    I’m sad..really sad..
With this sort of guys like Shorey the Best placement next year 11th (may be somebody gonna happy about that, its still better than this year)..
    No cash no success..

  • 40 craig chisholm // May 21, 2008 at 18:24

well, i think its a big no for shorey, not cos he is good or crap or anything really. its just a fat no cos our board and recruiting debt are a joke. we have wisey and his henchmen down in london and swanning around the globe and all they are doing is fcuking the dog.. christ, get shot of them and we could have bought bloody turan by now! i think we are buying absolutly no-one of any real importance. its not helping that mort is leaving (although i am glad that he is) as it means more crap right on transfer window time. we have brought no-one in for ages now and plenty have left. there is no way the wage bill can be 72% now. they said that before, look how many have buggered off, stacks. our wage bill must be about 0.3% now, its just the geordie jackpot lad left! we are not even going to be re-signing the ones we have. i must be daft or something really, cos either owen wants to sign or he doesnt, if he doesnt them put him for sale, if he wants to sign just do the deal, bloody hell. as for taylor, his situation should be resolved very quickly, he has no desire to leave us and he will not be demanding the world either, christ almightly mort! i rememebr that ashleys original first chice was fdavid dein, now that would be the best signing we as a club could make this year!

  • 41 valle // May 21, 2008 at 18:29

English players were some of our best last season, Owen, Butt and Harper… While our very own Legend was English too, as a matter of fact, we have never had a foreign legend in our history, so just how is English players shit?.

I also agree that Enrique should be the one learning his trade behind a proven left back. He had trouble ajusting to our game and KK reveiled to the papers that Enrique had some trouble and he would be looking for a new left back even when we where playing our best of the season.

  • 42 Tom_Toon // May 21, 2008 at 18:30

    Smith isnt better than Remy!

  • 43 Steven1979 // May 21, 2008 at 18:40

Tom Toon: have u ever seen Remy playin?
believe me he is rubbish..he has to pay 1 million to us to wear black n white for half an hour..

  • 44 toonoholic // May 21, 2008 at 18:42

craig , calm down buddy . we understand whats going through your head . the feelings are mutual .

  • 45 Tom_Toon // May 21, 2008 at 18:46

Yes i have for Lens and he really wasnt that bad, he is far better than Smith. We paid 6 mil for smith and pay him 65k a week, he hasnt scored a prem goal in 3 years.

  • 46 Steven1979 // May 21, 2008 at 18:58

remy was subs. in Lens, they are relegated..he is the 4th choice of trainer in 1 team that relegated in French League, or i have to say Lyon-league..and we wanna buy this guy now?
at least Smith was good once when he was in Leeds..lol
We have martins and owen they are much better than this guy..
we have to spend the money for better players.. strikers like Gomez or Gomis (St. Etienne) or Cisse..may be Anelka..Patrick Helmes (Cologne)..1 of them..

  • 47 Nick Dryden // May 21, 2008 at 18:58

he would be on big money, not happy on the bench for enrique and plus we have Edgar, Tozer and Kadar who could all cover.

  • 48 Punk Skunk // May 21, 2008 at 18:58

I’m with Hamas et al, england suck!..
    …Not even worth a capital e…
…Shorey could do a job for us, he’s probably better up front than smith also?..
…Wouldn’t wanna pay too much for him tho’!..

  • 49 toonoholic // May 21, 2008 at 19:01

Graham , then i think i wld love the scottish league too :P

  • 50 Tom_Toon // May 21, 2008 at 19:04

I dont want Remy but id take him over Smith any day.

Helmes already agreed to join Levekusen like 8 months ago.

  • 51 Nick Dryden // May 21, 2008 at 19:05

Off subject I know but most of Allardyce’s signings have been totally shocking.

    Rozenthal - couldn’t hack it
    Cacapa - couldn’t hack it
Geremi - legs have gone and shocking set pieces.
Smith - utterly useless on huge wages
Barton at her majesty’s on huge wages
Viduka - perma crock on huge wages
Enrique - Good for KK. Demoralised under Sam
Faye - hit and miss and aged 31
Beye - good but aged 30.

KK stumbled on a system and with a little tweaking it could still work.
    Harper
    Beye Taylor Edgar/ Kadar Enrique
    Milner Faye N’Zogbia
    Owen ? Martins

  • 52 Steven1979 // May 21, 2008 at 19:14

Helmes free to leverkusen i know.. unfortunately.
we have to pay more than 10 million to get him next year..with better scouting we can get such young and hungry players very cheap..but we prefer to pay for old and lazy..
Nick: i understand what u mean but probably with ur team we can join Derby and Reading next year..

  • 53 Nick Dryden // May 21, 2008 at 19:16

Craig Chisholm - do the math. It’s not sustainable. Ashley has just cleared another 100m of Shepherd’s debt. We have the 3rd highest earners, but we are nowhere near the top 4. People have been coming to NUFC just for the money for years. I know who I’d rather have in charge and it’s not the scrap metal merchant.
We may not like it, but blame Shepherd, not Ashley and Mort.

    Wages

    Viduka - 3M a year
    Owen - 6 M a year
    Duff - 3 M a year
    Smith 3.5 M a year
    Barton 2M a year
    Given 3M a year
    Butt 2.5M a year
    Faye 1.5M a year
    Beye 1.5M a year
    Enrique 1.5M a year
    Taylor 0.5M a year
    N’Zogbia 0.5M
    Milner ??
    and on and on !!!!!!!!!!

  • 54 ToonKing // May 21, 2008 at 19:20

nice debate here lads, i’m to lazy to write a long post so i’m just gonna summarize : foreigners are better then english players and yes, i too would laugh myself silly if England fail to qualify for the world cup.

oh and yes, almost forgot, let Reading keep Shorey, unless his willing to come for no more then 2 mil and no more then 25.000 grand a week and happy as a sub.

  • 55 ToonKing // May 21, 2008 at 19:24

by the way i heard that Everton are closing in on Jonas Olsson, if the press is to be believed ( :D ) we have been watching him too.
he would be a very decent squad player, although defenders from the dutch league is not something a manager should desire.

  • 56 Martins // May 21, 2008 at 19:32

News coming in from Turkey today that KK has met Gala’s chairman to discuss Arda. It seems to be some complications with the transfer fee though. Don’t know how reliable the source is.

  • 57 Tom_Toon // May 21, 2008 at 19:37

ToonKing - What do you think of Constantin, i hear Ajax are still tracking him.

Id like Chygrynskiy for CB, a brute that can dribble the ball out of defence :)

  • 58 craig chisholm // May 21, 2008 at 19:39

nick dreydon…. not a bad pitch i will give you that, now its my turn. we are the fifth highest in wages dude - not third, we also have the third highest gates in prem. furthermore, if you look at the money paid out in tv last year we got more than some teams above us including spurs(cant say it without choking on vomit). We are the only team in the prem without a single penny of debt. manure service a 600 million debt and still buy big, liverpool a 360 million pound package and still make it work. the players you mention above come to less than 30 million in salaries. our gates are over 20 million a year. plus new tv rights at shit loads, plus all the merchandise too. you can now knock barton off the list too dude as he’s off pay- other than 5.25 from the queen a week. duff is getting moved on so he is out too thats us down to 25 million, smith (vomit) will be gone thats us down to 22.5 million and there will be others going too. we aint saying keep the dross we have nick, we are saying dump smith, duff and that frees off enough salary paying power to easily bring in our turkish friend…. who has already said that he is in shit money at gala and would come for around 40 grand a week and above all, we have found a talent that WANTS TO COME - instead of fcuking us off. so, get rid of the dross, bring in the new blood and save on the salarys too. tell me i am wrong nick?

  • 59 toonoholic // May 21, 2008 at 19:42

    Complications would be like this

kevin - how much for that kid ?
polat - 12 mn for you so far
kevin - i brought ashleys empty cheque book along, lets get the deal done then ,shall we ?
polat - no , we have to wait
kevin- for what ? turkish new year ?
polat - for totenham to come with a 15 mn bid !

  • 60 toonoholic // May 21, 2008 at 19:46

btw are polat and borat related ?

  • 61 ToonKing // May 21, 2008 at 19:49

MArius Constantine is a good player, if good enough i don’t know, problem is he’s a bad boy to, on and off the pitch.

out of the too i would much rather have Chygrynskiy, he’s my kind of defender, he’s still young, and if he could bulk up another 2-3 kilos he would be an absolute monster.

  • 62 Tom_Toon // May 21, 2008 at 19:53

Yep im a fan of Chygrynskiy and Rusol. Cant believe Rusol still plays in the Ukraine although he probably wouldnt suit the prem because he is a technical defender. I wouldnt want Constantin for a starter from what ive seen i was just asking your opinion of him. Id defintely try for Chygrynsky he is going to be very good and would already walk into our back 4.

  • 63 Steven1979 // May 21, 2008 at 19:54

I read KK met Polat today..Polat wants 13mn. now.Not to negotiate..I think its a fair price.
If not wait the end of Euro..then may be 23mn. No one knows.

  • 64 Nick C // May 21, 2008 at 19:57

First NUFC then England. Proud of both….

  • 65 ToonKing // May 21, 2008 at 19:58

yeah Rusol is great, he won’t stay long at that crappy club, although i agree he wouldn’t suit the EPL very well, he’s kinda like Cacapa, but faster and more skillfull. i don’t really like small defenders. he would do well in Spain.

  • 66 Nick C // May 21, 2008 at 20:00

Who is everyone supporting tonight? Cannot stand either of them. However, it would be nice to see the look on that Scottish get’s dial if the mancs got turned over!!

  • 67 Tom_Toon // May 21, 2008 at 20:01

Ye, Rusol is just not strong enough.

Dont know if you watch the serbian league but i saw Zoran Tosic play for Serbia, he still plays there looks pretty handy player, also Milovanovic is apparently quite good.

  • 68 Tom_Toon // May 21, 2008 at 20:02

Chelsea definitely, it would be Man utd if they didnt have Baby Rooney and Rudolph.

  • 69 ToonKing // May 21, 2008 at 20:05

saw Tosic a few times he seems very promising. Milovanovic looks like he reached his top to me , don’t think he would be good enough for us, but he’s decent.

  • 70 Tom_Toon // May 21, 2008 at 20:09

Havent seem Milovanovic so i dont really know id just heard he allright, played almost 250 for red star and captains them and is only 24, its bizarre he hasnt been called up so he can be too good.

How good is Tisza from the hungarian league? And do you think Dica is good enough for the premiership, because all reports suggest hes a good player but whenever iv’ve seen him plays yes he scored but never really wowed me.

Asatiani looks a very good defender too.

  • 71 Punk Skunk // May 21, 2008 at 20:27

  • 73 valle // May 21, 2008 at 20:41

No no no, n0t the Chelsea cheaters… If any of those two should win it, it must be Man Utd. They are easier on the eyes and arent half as dirty as Chelsea…

  • 74 paddyq // May 21, 2008 at 20:50

anyone heard anything more of this rubbish of mort leaving?
it was on tribal football after all but still, not good to see being spread around.

  • 75 valle // May 21, 2008 at 20:51

As to Sams signings… Get over him will ya?… Sam got 8 months and he had allot of fans against him before the first ball was even kicked. And saying his signings are bad is simply bull!!!

Allot of you guys seem to be very happy with Enrique, then there is Beye who imo is the best right back we have had in modern days. Lets not forget Faye who if any has been our rock at the back heading everything away that comes close to our box… And Geremi old and useless at set pieces??? you must be joking, he has been one of the reasons we rescued our season putting in great crosses and free kicks. As for the Dukes, try asking Oba how he feels with dukes in the side.

The bad signings have been Smith for his lack of ability and Roz for his attitude… Cacapa has looked good aswell as bad depending on the match and must be counted a good squad player and since we got him for free, you cant call it a bad buy.

Looking back to our great Sir Bobby, how many bad buys did he make alongside the gems?… Cordone, Cort, Viana and Gavilan to name about §20 million of wasted money… You can say allot about Sam, but his buying wasnt bad at all, and everyone able to look beyound their dislike of the man must admit that.

he has the touch of a horse out there.

  • 78 Toon1978 // May 21, 2008 at 20:56

HAMAS that is a shallow thing to say mate IMO at the end of the day these ppl have children and family aswell as anybody else i am sure you dont mean what you say. Enjoy the game without such comments anyway any hints at signings today?

  • 79 Taiwantoon // May 21, 2008 at 21:07

    I don’t think we don’t owe anyone a penny.

I am not a genius in finance, but I just wonder how many top business people would clear that huge debt by cash rather than other aviliable financial solutions.

Regarding the signing young talent policy, I think it is basically a good one. But I am shocked after learning Dunne is too old for us. I don’t rate Dunne, but I am bemused by the reason we are not after him. Just hope it is not true tho, even Arsenal has some experienced top defenders to help guiding their younger players.
Anyway, I am just trying to say that CDs at age of 29 is not bad at all IMO.

  • 80 Hamas (51times) // May 21, 2008 at 21:15

Of course I mean what I say. Give me the chance and I’ll kill them myself.

I don’t understand the sympathy for Man Utd. Did they have sympathy for us when the put six past us? I very much doubt it, they loved seeing our club in a downward spiral.

  • 81 valle // May 21, 2008 at 21:22

Wishing people a plane crash is way beyound shallow, i wont go into what i think about that statement tho as this site is a football site.

  • 82 Danish_Magpie // May 21, 2008 at 21:25

Hamas mate, come off it. We are not interested in comments like that on here. You might not sympathize with United - I sure as hell don’t either - but you just sound like an idiot talking about wanting them to crash or killing them. Don’t forget on the net there are young kids who may not understand your comments and misinterpret them and things. I’m all for saying what’s on your mind, but let’s not fall to that level. You’re not impressing anyone on here.

Anyways, let’s enjoy the rest of a good game in Moscow.

  • 83 Hamas (51times) // May 21, 2008 at 21:27

You’re not even a Geordie, you wouldn’t understand. Any born and bred Geordie who doesn’t hate Man Utd shows just how plastic they are. I’m the real deal, a proper supporter.

Most Newcastle supporters are as plastic as Carrick or Bruce nowadays though. People used to think we were hard…nobody’s hard in Newcastle now though, full of middleclass scum and puffs.

  • 84 Punk Skunk // May 21, 2008 at 21:28

Five mancs, six mancs, seven mancs more
Scratching at the windows…banging on the door

    Help, help, help, help, hot…

  • 87 ToonKing // May 21, 2008 at 21:39

dunno which Tisza you refer too Tom_Toon, there are a few, it’s a common name.

The reason why Dica didn’t amaze you is cause he’s crap. not crap crap but decent at best. not nearly as good as his reputation. he had a good run of form with Steaua in europe the last 2-3 seasons but he’s inconsistent and average.

  • 91 ToonKing // May 21, 2008 at 21:42

    lol Hamas.

tbh i’m not rooting for anyone (except penalties), but i want Manure to take it more than the Chelski scum. extra-time now, i can’t wait to see the look on Lampard’s face when he misses the penalty and Manure win it.

  • 92 ToonKing // May 21, 2008 at 21:46

lol lampard, and Chelski hit the bar again, the scum blues are looking dangerous.

  • 93 vin // May 21, 2008 at 21:47

Hamas…you must very tough and hard for saying rubbish like that. Keep that in your small mind please. I hate Man Utd too, but to wish death on someone for the sake of football?? How old are you, 15?? Maybe you were one of those very intelligent people at Shearers Testimonial, there not to watch the final game of a legend, but to shout sectarian abuse at no one in particular in front of young kids, and probably canteven put any of what they were blabbing into a historical context. Knob.

  • 102 Hamas (51times) // May 21, 2008 at 22:04

Mackems are so insignificant I won’t even bother slagging them off.

Also I love how loads of people love to praise Bobby Charlton and talk about how class he was. Did you know he didn’t even show up to his own mothers funeral? Are you saying somebody who thinks he’s too important to go to his mothers funeral doesn’t deserve to die in a plane crash? That was the biggest tragedy of it all, that he made it out alive.

  • 103 Toon1978 // May 21, 2008 at 22:09

Hamas i am a true NEWCASTLE UNITED FAN AND I HAVE BEEN FOR 25 YEARS. I have taken my young boys spending an absolute fortune to HOME and AWAY games and games in EUROPE and because i dissagree with your pathetic childish comments this makes me a plastic supporter for not hating Man utd. Get real mate, CARRICK is a WALLSEND lad and i only live down the street from his parents and i played at WALLSEND boys club with CARRICK and believe you me he aint no plastic geordie. WHO WOULDNT want to play for one of the biggest clubs on the planet i personally think CARRICK has done exceptionally well for himself and deserves to be where he is. Anyone who is really hard doesn’t sit online at 11pm writing that he will fight anyone who doesn’t say they hate Man Utd. I would just shrug my shoulders at Hamas as I find him sad…. but it does take up space on an otherwise excellent blog.. Like I said in my first post, I don’t think any of us are impressed that you will “cut their throats”. Probably the wrong crowd. I am sure there are people that will look up to you for saying stuff like that, but it doesn’t scare, shock, impress, or move us. You are boring us, if anything.

What a game btw. Feel sorry for Terry. Noone deserves to feel like he is feeling right now, esp. not someone who loves and fights for his club and is captaining it. I don’t like Chelsea though so that part of it makes me happy. In fact i wanted both teams to lose tonight :-)

To be chairman of a football club i always thought you would at least have to be passionate about the club whereas this guy is a West Ham supporter. If he was a Man U supporter i wonder what Hamas would do with himself? lol Not sure about this new appointment though, i hope it doesn’t cause any disruption to proposed transfers. Arda’nın rotası Everton
    22 Mayıs 2008

İngiliz kulübü, G.Saray’ın yıldızı için 10 milyon sterlini gözden çıkardı.

Milli futbolcuyu renklerine bağlamaya kararlı olan Evertonlılar önümüzdeki günlerde sarı kırmızılılarla temasa geçecek. Tarafların anlaşmaya varması halinde bu transferin 10 gün içinde sonuçlanacağı belirtildi.

GALATASARAY’ın ve A Milli Takım’ın genç yıldızı Arda Turan, İngiliz kulüplerini peÅŸinden koÅŸturuyor.

EÄŸer anlaÅŸma saÄŸlanırsa, Arda’nın Everton’a transferi 10 gün içerisinde sonuçlanabilir.”

    (a) Im pretty sure someone is just using Hamas name and posting claiming to be him as he hasnt seemed like this much of a tool before

    (b) and if he hasnt been hacked, and is such a massive toon fan, why does he have a Rangers link when you click on his name?

wow, quite a blog, made for interesting reading after watching an epic of a cup final, head full of red bull, there are some things that should have been said, lets just brush it under the carpet

Hamas YOU ARE SCUM!!! ive never read such rubbish in all my life. Dont ever bring Wor Jackie or Joe into that context again. shows that your no fan just sick. Im proud to be a northerner and support the toon, but with comments like that id only piss on you when your on fire to save the toon shirt on the back and then happily light you up again SCUMBAG!!!

Sorry mates, have been away for a while due to courseworks.

Anyhow I checked that link out regarding Arda’s possible move to Everton. That’s not a source you can really trust I’m afraid. Hurriyet is one of the highest selling newspapers but its’ sports news are known to only draw attention and most of the times not accurate at all. They don’t quote or give reference to anything but just draw up their own conclusions.

Just to confirm. Thi story is not being picked up on because of the Champions League Cup final.

Chris Mort is leaving and his replacement is already lined up:
