I am a bit concerned by Mort’s proposed departure, it’s certainly not the best thing that could happen to us at tihs moment of time.

Comment #4Chris Mort is just a commercial decission and he was always going back to his old firm. There is a replacement lined up with plenty of experience it would seem, so I would not read too much into this. I would like to see some activity in the playing staff though – not in the boardroom. LOL

Comment #7So Mort’s future at NUFC is an arranged matter. All above board then. Not a sinister plot by Daily Mail reporters to torpedo NUFC prior to season 2008-2009. An administrative matter and no more. Will check out Footylive as well. Fed up with Setanta.

Comment #8Is this similar to/better than Sopcast etc.?
And wasn’t it made clear at the beginning of Morty’s reign that it was just temporary?

Comment #9Ed, I was reading the diatribe from the person who calls himself Hamas on the “Nicky Shorey” blog last night. I consider myself to be broadminded and like a laugh. But that sort of “humour” is totally wrong. Laughing at people perishing in an air crash is as sick as poking fun at 9/11 or holocaust victims.
I really think you should ask people to register, cos this is a great site and it shouldn’t be ruined by this sort of vile behaviour.

The Euro champs is about to start and not even a sniff of a new player arriving.
Are we resigned to paying over the odds prices and wages after the Euro championships or are we simply not gonna sign anyone playing there?
This is getting frustrating, we only here of board room changes and nothing of changes on the pitch. Your average fan doesnt give a shite about the board room Mr Ashley, personally you could employ the pope as a director and I wouldnt give a shit, i want to know who we are gonna sign as a player FFS!!!

Comment #20I haven’t read Hamas’ contribution that have so many burning the torches and sharpening their pitch forks but Hamas, like the rest of us, does make valuable contributions.
The real breath of fresh air about this blog is the astute simplicity of the articles ‘Ed’ writes together with the ability for anyone to submit comments. We have always been self policing and I for one welcome that freedom.
With the new sponsorship deal and a lot of anally retentive contributors, I suspect that this site is in danger of free falling into the general clique of closed shop tripe that populates so many forums.
Bring in registration, forums and censorship and become one of the masses if you like but the current formula together with Ed’s hard work has made this ‘blog’ the success it is.
As for Hamas… I imagine that a quiet word would have illicited an apology if neccessary and let’s face it, noone was hurt. We’re all grown men and women here, surely.

Comment #21And does the new sponsorship deal mean that I can’t advertise one of the ‘grey’ (and probably the best), free live footie streaming sites:
http://www.p2p.eu
I am very happy that Ed’s hard work has earned him ‘sponsorship’ from the amount of visitors and traffic through this blog but all that glitters is not gold.

Comment #22Jim , Ed did have a quite word as qouted “Hammas – can you please tone down your comments – and have them be appropriate to our web site.
Thanks.”
The reply he got was
“Ed-Please get off busby’s zombie cock, Thanks ”
Ya he gives a great contribution to this site..
Guy needs to be banned..has no respect for anything exspecialy Newcastle United sopporters..Coming round to it, I actualy think the guy is a true mackem fan

Comment #23Jim, if you had read his posts they were nothing short of shameful, and calling some of the posters anally retentive on here, is a little cynical of you. This is a site that is built upon opinion, everybody has their own, and whether you deem other peoples opinion as being anally retentive, this is also your opinion is it not? therefore, the need for insults is not required, people are just getting their opinions across.
As for your quotes re Hamas, valid though they are regarding past posts, the boy overstepped the Mark with his comments re Munich, these boys who were killed were peoples kids, they were doing their jobs and nothing else, they werent harming anybody, and profess such hatred about a football team doing their job and beating us by 5 – 6 – 7 goals……wanting to cut peoples throats…..this is normal???????????????

Comment #24Ok. I’ve read his comments and I chuckled. This is standard terrace banter. Does that make me a bad person?
I do have to add though, perhaps a family targeted blog isn’t quite the right forum for those comments Hamas.
ANON…
I’m afraid that your frail constitution and sense of hurt is the kind of retentive attitude I was referring to, sorry to say. Lighten up and put things in context. Football isn’t real life. It’s always been an escape, a fantasy world of tribal passion filled with elation, heartbreak and downright hatred. That’s why we love it.

Comment #26After reading the complaints about Hamas’ comments, I went to have a look at the Nickey Shorey thread and I have to agree, they are pretty offensive.
This is a person who seems to think that being a “true” Geordie in some way involves hatred and finding humour in the tragic deaths of Manchester United footballers. He seemed keen to attack anybody that differed in their opinion and was offensive and childish throughout his posts.
I appreciate the point that was made above about freedom and the other benfits of the excellent site, but there are always going to be people who over step the line of decncy and taste.
This offensive little man should be barred from posting. Though I don’t condone violence, if anybody knows who he actually is, he deserves to be taken up on the offers of fights he was bandying about last night.
Get rid. Worse for Newcastle United supporters than any of the bad managers or expensive donkey’s we’ve had in the past.

Comment #27Well, this ISN’T the terrace is it, it’s a public forum, that kids frequent…& people from all walks of life!..
…It’s only natural that some will be offended by various comments!..
…Sometimes bloggers just ‘didn’t think’ what they say will offend, but, ‘sometimes’ they know full well what they’re sayin’ will & carry on regardless, diggin’ a deeper & blacker hole!..
…I think it’s the latter that most people are talkin’ about here?..
…Does that make sense?..

Punk Skunk…
I agree with your comment in general but some people will always be offended by some opinions but referring to my earlier comment
“I do have to add though, perhaps a family targeted blog isn’t quite the right forum for those comments Hamas.”
Now I’ve vented my spleen, c’mon the Toon. Stomp, stamp, barge, shove and generally batter your way to the top of the Premiership. Let’s kick a few Mancs, gouge a few Cockneys and defile the image of the cheeky Scouser on the way!
And if you think that’s out of order you never saw the full blooded final last night. Broken noses, raised passions and men exerting their physical presence on a game that’s fast becoming a non contact sport. Bring the glorious game back to it’s roots! (That goes for bloggers, too)

kool man, i’m not talkin’ about ‘soft asses’ who’ll be offended at everything…I just think we should know when to shut our trap, knowarramean?..

…After all, it’s a football blog, not a ‘petty prejudice’ blog, ain’t it?..

Comment #33Jim what HAMAS said was wrong, end of!! There is a difference between banter and sick comment, and in hamas case, the difference was massive!!
But not to dwell on idoits like Hamas who insults everybody, blog owner included, I do agree that the toon should be battling their way to the top, but they will only do this if they F***in sign someone!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Comment #38Sad Man U fans continue to post their rhetoric…what are you all even doing at a Newcastle blog anyway if you have no loyalty or love to show to the Toon? Do none of you happen to hear the songs they sing about us even when we’re not playing them? How can people so weak even survive?

Comment #39I really don’t know why I try to bring a little bit of humour into the blog, it seems to get swallowed up in dross. Personnally I normally ignore the unpleasant stuff it just aint worth responding to. Suggest everyone else does the same. If their is no response then there is no satisfaction to the perpetrator.
