Good news today from the England Under-19 squad in Minsk, who won their first game in the final qualifying round of the European Under-19 Championships by a 2-0 scoreline against Poland.

Andy Caroll - played full 90 minutes for England
This is formally called the elite round of the European Under-19 Championships, and the Under-19 side have to play all 3 qualifying games before the end of the month.
They got off to a great start today and it was two goals from West Ham United striker Freddie Sears that saw England U19s beat Poland 2-0 tonight.
In the first of three games for Brian Eastick’s team this week, Sears opened the scoring just before 30 minutes had gone on the clock, and the young England side had that precarious 1-0 lead at half time.

Freddie Sears of West Ham - scored both England’s goals
The win was finally secured just five minutes from time when Sears added his second goal from the penalty spot.
England are in action again on Wednesday morning when they face Serbia at the same venue.
Andy Carroll from Newcastle United played the whole game for the England side, for his 5th cap.

Aluko didn’t play. The squad list shows he was withdrawn. Don’t know how good he is really. Only seen him once. vs Bayern Munich and he was immense on the left wing.
