Solid Foundations Already In Place at Newcastle

Kevin Keegan talked to the Evening Chronicle today and firmly believes the foundations for his new team are already in place at Newcastle United.

Kevin Keegan – foundations already in place at Newcastle

The Newcastle manager is currently relaxing a little, after his stellar performance at Newcastle last season, once he had got the playing squad sorted out, and Kevin finally had them playing great, for much of the last 10 games of the season.

Keegan is hoping to add up to five new faces to his current squad, which while small is still full of class. We don’t expect the size of the squad to change much for last season with Ashley keen to keep the overall wage bill under control.

Kevin Keegan is optimistic about the new season and it seems he cannot wait to get started again.

He said today:

“We’ve already got some quality players and we hope to add to that.”“It’s hard to predict.”

“I can say better when it is the start of the season when I have all the squad together.”

“If you ask me then I can look round and say this is what we are going to go with.”

Kevin had a difficult time when he started back at Newcastle and had to go 9 games until he captured his first win against Fulham 2-0.

Kevin continued:

“I’ve enjoyed it.”

“We’ve changed a few things at Newcastle.”

“When you come into a club, everybody has different ideas, and that’s no criticism of what had gone on before.”

“Our main aim was to try to make players here enjoy coming to the training ground.”

“And by doing that make sure they do the right kind of work.”

“If you can get that right it’s a pretty good formula.”

Kevin certainly seemed to handle the pressure very well and was always upbeat about his players and the future, during last season.

And he transformed a lot of the playing staff and had players like Beye, Faye, Barton, Butt, Enrique, Taylor, Martins, Viduka and Owen playing their very best at any time at the club.

Not too bad for a a manager who has only just returned.

We’re just waiting now to see who the club can bring in during the summer that will top off our squad and hopefully have it bee good enough to challenge Everton, Tottenham, West Ham and Aston Villa for that 5th place spot.

But we know we have the right manager at the club now, that’s for sure.

As usual, its a case of having to wait and see!!!

At the moment it would be easier to list the players we HAVEN’T been linked to. I think KK will do his usual stunt of pulling out a transfer thats going to cause a few “WOWS”, get the fans going again and ensure that all the season tickets are sold. Ashley will be a happy man!!!

    Cooldj-how old are you?
You sound like a twat sorry.

    “that 5th place spot”

Talk about deluded there is no way that we will get a 5th place spot-here are the real challengers
west ham, spurs, villa, everton, man city and portsmouth to name a few.

These boys will be spending some serious wedge as well during the window and we won’t be that is the difference.

No communication at the club, tight chairman, contracts not tied up,bozo recruitment team, small squad and no ambition we will finish similar to last season.

Yeah, the wall virginity thing is a bit pointless.

Regarding Keegan’s positive remarks, I’m just happy that he’s happy. I was worried that the so called “restrictions” on his buying and selling would have him on his way out of the door, but it doesn’t look like that’s the case.

Hopefully he’ll get at least a couple of the people he really wants and we can progress from there.

I’m keeping my fingers crossed that we still have Owen, Oba, Taylor and Milner at the beginning of the next campaign. Wouldn’t mind seeing Achille Emana there as well. Geordie Gerrard 7 put a youtube link up with some of his goals on a little while ago and he reminded me a bit of Tino.

    Fingers crossed.

Looks like Spurs are getting Dos Santos in the next few days, and possibly Dunne, to add to the Modric deal.

    what are we doing??

If Newcastle aren’t careful, we are going to be pushed further down the pecking order of good Prem teams.

    I’m very worried.

If its a top 5 spot Utd. are looking for, it will be the Eto`s not the Davis`s, that will get the club there.
Look at the quality being signed by competitors Spurs and Portsmouth.
Looks like another mid level finish for a fifth place expenditure bill.

well my take on the whole wall virginity thing is that some people use it because they have nothing good to say and wont take the time to think of something interesting to say on the subject we are discussing…

i sometimes do it but then make my arguement in the same wall about the article.

ok now on the solid foundations i feel maybe something big is around the corner for newcastle, i am not going to hold my breath but i will live in hope

I have to admit it worries me when you see a team like spurs doing good business, bringing in quality signings and all we get are stories.I think our major problem is Ashley wants to trim the wage bill which means KK needs to get rid of a few of the big earners eg Smith and Duff who hvae been a complete waste before bringing anyone in.The trouble is who will buy them after the season they have had?
