Recruitment Team Key To Newcastle’s Future Success

We’re not really sure whether Richard Dunne was ever a real target for Newcastle, but if he was the likelihood is that he will be joining Tottenham Hotspur.

Richard Dunne – now likely to join Spurs

The news that came out a few weeks ago indicated that Dunne was too old for Newcastle but at 28, that seemed ridiculous, and it now seems that his wage demands were just too high for Newcastle.

It may be that owner Mike Ashley wants Kevin Keegan, with the help of Dennis Wise and his team to bring in younger players that would both cost less in the transfer market, and have lower wage expectations.

That may be our strategy for the summer, but that cannot fill the Newcastle fans with a lot of hope since it’s a very difficult thing to do.

If it was easy evey club would be doing it.

Of course Arsenal in particular have been very successful at bringing in great young players, and you rarely see Arsenal having to spend big bucks for players, since they do bring in a lot of youngsters, and most of them seem to make the grade, either at the London club or elsewhere.

But it’s not easy to do and that’s why the club has invested heavily in Dennis Wise, Jeff Vetere, and Tony Jimenez as an executive recruitment team.

The fruits of this strategy will lie in their ability to ferret out good players that we can sign each summer, or even in the January transfer window.

We’ll just have to wait and see how well they do this summer.

Comments welcome.

Spurs are welcome to him as far as I am concerned. As for the R-Squad I really hope they are doing a swimming duck routine. But get airborne soon.

im starting to think that Mike Ashley want young talents because he wants to sell them in high prices when they become superstars,
he wants us to become a selling club because this is business
    he just wants to earn!

    hopefully my thought is wrong:)

bloody hell! this “building on future” has to be an easy thing to do. Like making long-time predictions – nobody can prove you wrong at the moment.

I want R-team building on present! Bring some quality in!

the wave of euphoria following KK’s return will be completely gone if they fail to back him 100% in the transfer market. The only reason we signed the players we did last time was because of 1 reason – Keegan. We have a trump card and he isn’t even allowed to negotiate with players! Instead, potential signings have had Mort and Wise to go by – exciting or what???!!!

We need to starting making these purchases soon, before we’ve sold the whole squad.

Apart from the four that went a few weeks ago, we’ve now sold Emre and Milner will probably find overtures from Liverpool,Villa and Everton hard to resist if we’re going to stick with the 4-3-3 that’s been so successful for us.

PULL YOUR FINGER OUT DENNIS WISE!!!

well these sorts of storys make me very wary of mike ashley’s intentions

wise vetre jiminez are fools i think i guess they are getting paid about 3-4million between them per year… thats a footballers wages. if they are going to do this youngsters thing why bring wise in he has no record of it…. someone like glen roeder would be better for it and wouldnt cost as much

    plus he is a geordie

If MA is not prepared to pay the wages for big signings then why haul KK over the coals for his comments about not being able to compete with the top 4. Without the financial backing of MA then KK is absolutely right.
As for looking to buy young up and coming players because they are cheap and their wages are low, yes its a good idea but only if these players are bought as back up for the first team. We will never even get close to the top 6 never mind the top 4 without top class players.
A word of wise to MA, we will always be behind you as long as we can see you are committed to providing the best possible team for us to support. If as it looks to me you are looking to do this on the cheap then i am afraid when we see our team struggling again at the foot of the table there will only be one head we will be calling for and it wont be KK`s.

I would rather see 3 premiership proven midfielders (and some defenders) who can score this summer, plus we all know we need one striker especially with Viduka out for a while.

Once we have these they can play about with fresh new players from around the World, the list of superb non premiership players who were no good is endless, the odds of finding the whole of our midfield, defense and one striker who are instantly good from a bunch of players who havent played in the premiership before is very low and could just make fools of us.

The stands are full, their is no debt the club is in good shape providing it moves up the table, it would be very easy for it to slip down the table and the stands start emptying again if the board force the wrong moves on Keegan. Ashley being a business man and involved with retail must already know a business is nothing without customers.

The reserves should be feeding the first team, but for some reason the first team seem slow to accept good players like Lua Lua and Edgar and dump rubbish like Carroll, and then move along the next with Fabio in the reserves, that is where the inexperienced hopefuls need signing, only chancing one or two straight in to the first team if they are absolutely amazing and long before they are chosen for their country.

On his day Dunne is immense. It’s not his day every day, but as he’s been getting older, his days are far more often than they used to be.

Plus he’s played in front of Given for a long time now, that would have to be a bonus.

how come we can sell players but we cant sign any? The recruitment team is a absolute joke just another way of giving the fans false hope a recruitment team is actually meant to sign players not offer them to teams like spurs. At the this rate we’ll be lucky if we can field a team of 11!!! Ashley is here to make a bit cash then he’s going to leave.

Dunne is fb. Anyone saying otherwise either has very little football knowledge or expects us to be able to sign a world class defender that is totally unrealistic.

I’ll be disappointed once again if we miss out. It’s definitely someone we should be targeting and if we’re not then Wise, Vetere and any other nutjob aren’t doing their job properly.

We need DUNNE! why we always lose to Spurs in term of players? I rather have dunne rather than new non-proven premiership defenders. cuellar played for a scottish team but dunne got years of premiership experience. Some people might said he is the reason man city lose 8-1 but thats just one match. He played with distin and then with micah richard and both player improve drastically….this guy can shape up taylor to become a world class defender. trust me!
